Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Hunting Guide – Legendary Animals Locations, How to Hunt

Our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Hunting Guide will allow you to learn all you need to know about finding Legendary Animals and hunting them in the game.

The world of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey can both be a beautiful and dangerous place at once. While there are animals that are friendly and can be tamed, there are also predatory beasts which would rip you apart should you get close to them. Our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Hunting Guide will look at some of the animals you may expect to come across while roaming Ancient Greece.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Hunting

All animals in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey fall generally under two categories i.e. those that can be hunted and those that can be tamed.

Of course, there is some overlapping between the two but we are cover all of that here. Hunting animals will award you with their furs, skin, and other resources that can be used for crafting and upgrading purposes.

Taming animals, on the other hand, ensure that you do not extract them and yet keep them alive to be used as your companions alongside you in your travels.

How to Hunt

Apart from crafting resources, you can always sell or trade the leather acquired from almost all animals. This is done at the local blacksmith or marketplace vendors or traders.

In return, you get a decent amount of coins to be spent elsewhere on weapons, armor, and other equipment. As a useful guide, you can use your pet eagle, Ikaros, to track animals.

The hunted come in two categories: the prey including deer, some fish, and domesticated animals like cats and dogs as well as the predators, the bears, lions, and menacing wolves.

The prey category of animals is generally easier to hunt down as they carry less vitality. Though these are super fast and may flee at the first sight of you, try to take them out as soon as you get close to them.

Other times, you may find that some of the predators have done the hard job for you. In such cases, you will come across some dead prey. You can approach them and loot the corpses for valuable items including leather.

The predators are a lot tougher to hunt down and we recommend keeping as far away from them as possible. Use bow and arrows for this purpose.

Should you find being too close to them as to be in their melee attacks range, always play a defensive game and keep dodging. Avoid facing a pack of these beasts at all cost and instead lure them one by one if possible.

Legendary Animals

Later on, you will acquire a quest, The Goddesses’ Hunt from Temple of Artemis to hunt down Legendary Animals that will award you with legendary gear and items.

The Legendary Animals are one of a kind and cannot be encountered again after putting them down.

To acquire this quest, you will need to speak to one of the Daughters of Artemis, Daphnae in the Temple of Artemis, Phokis.

Your first Legendary Animal hunt would be a Kalydonian Boar and from there, you can choose from a number of animals to hunt whenever you feel like as part of a side-quest.
