To help you find Smithing Stones early on in the game, we have prepared this guide where we will walk you through all the Elden Ring Smithing Stone Locations.

What Are Smithing Stones Used For?

Smithing Stones are one of the most important items in the game. These consumables are needed to upgrade your weapons in Elden Ring.

Though they are not a particularly rare item to find, Smithing Stones are hidden quite well around the world of Elden Ring. You’ll find them naturally as you play through the game, but if you know the best locations to find them beforehand, you will be able to upgrade your weapons much earlier.

If you find a bunch of Smithing Stones early on, you’ll be able to quickly upgrade your weapons using a Smithing Table in the Church of Elleh. This will allow you to have a much easier time beating the early-game mobs and bosses.

Smithing Stone Tiers and Upgrade Levels

Regular Smithing Stones come in eight numbered tiers, and each tier covers three upgrade levels for standard weapons and shields. The Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone takes an armament to its final +25.

Every tier is covered below, from Smithing Stone [1] through Smithing Stone [8] and the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, with map locations by region, farming spots, merchants and the Bell Bearings that unlock unlimited purchases.

Smithing Stone Prices and Upgrade Costs

Standard armaments need two, then four, then six stones of a tier to climb its three levels, so a full run through one tier costs 12 stones. Taking a single weapon from +0 to +24 uses 96 Smithing Stones in total, and the final step to +25 needs one Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. The table below shows what each tier costs once the Twin Maiden Husks stock it and which Bell Bearing you need to hand over first.

Buying every stone for one weapon from the Twin Maiden Husks comes to 129,600 Runes, on top of the reinforcement fee the blacksmith charges at each level. Where to find each Bell Bearing is covered at the end of this guide.

Smithing Stone [1] Locations (+1 to +3)

The best early-game locations to get Smithing Stones 1 in Elden Ring are mostly Stormveil Castle and the entire Limgrave region in general.

Stormveil Castle

1. For the first Stone, you need to make your way to the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle. From the Liftside Chamber locked door, you need to head south and look for a corpse in the alleyway. Looting this corpse will give you two Smithing Stone 1.
2. From the first smithing stone location, head east and find a glowing statue in the middle of the patio. To break open the statue, you need to take the help of the troll located North in the Secluded Cell Site of Grace. Once the troll is in front of the statue, he will do the job of opening up the statue and give you five Smithing Stones 1.

1. Head further east from the patio until you come across Nepheli Loux in the room. The same room will have four Smithing Stone 1 on the corner behind some crates.
2. Stormveil Castle has an enemy called Lion Guardian that the players will encounter after traveling to the Tower Bridge Site of Grace. You will loot Smithing Stone 1 once you have defeated the Lion Guardian.
3. To get the fifth stone, you need to head towards the Gateside Chamber Site of Grace. Make your way towards the top of the bulwark Northwest of Site of Grace, where you will find the Smithing Stone 1 under the catapult.
4. The sixth Smithing Stone 1 can be looted from the corpse located at the bottom of the hill near the Stormveil Main Gate Site of Grace.

Limgrave

1. For the first stone, you must head to the Site of Grace located north of Limgrave, Highroad Cave. Once there, you need to get inside the cave to get three Smithing Stone 1.
2. Grey Scarab will drop the second stone, which can be located by traveling to the Deathtouched Catacombs Site of Grace. Head west from the Site of Grace to the top of the building, where you will find the Smithing Stone 1.
3. Travel to the Summonwater Village Outskirts Site of Grace and head northeast in front of the large tomb. Here, you will be able to loot Smithing Stone 1 from the corpse located beside the tomb.
4. For the fourth stone, you need to travel to the Saintsbridge Site of Grace. From there, you will be able to find Smithing Stone 1 by traveling North.
5. This stone can be found inside the statue located Southeast of Warmaster’s Shack. The statue can only be opened by luring a giant located nearby. Once the statue is destroyed, you will get five Smithing Stones 1.

1. Look for a corpse located southeast of the Stormhill Shack Site of Grace. Once located, the corpse will give you three Smithing Stones 1.
2. Travel to the Murkwater Coast Site of Grace and cross the river to the east side. A Teardrop Scarab will be waiting for you on the other side that can be looted for the Smithing Stone 1.
3. If you travel further east from where you found the last stone, you will come across a dead body. Looting this dead body will give you the Smithing Stone 1.
4. For the ninth location, you need to make your way inside the Limgrave Tunnels. Here, you will find Smithing Stone 1 on top of the platform beside the Stonedigger Troll fight room.
5. Make your way inside the Church of Elleh located southwest of Limgrave. Once inside, you need to look for the smithing table which will have Smithing Stone 1 on top.
6. From the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace, you need to make your way east to the bridge. From there, you will find Smithing Stone 1 by looting the corpse.
7. If you travel south from the bridge, you will come across another corpse which will yield Smithing Stone 1.
8. Travel to the Cave of Knowledge Site of Grace and find a corpse hanging right over the entrance. Looting this corpse with give you the Smithing Stone 1.
9. This stone can be found inside Fort Haight located east of Limgrave. Once inside, you need to look for a corpse located close to the southwestern wall. The same corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 1.
10. The next stone can be found inside the Church of Dragon Communion. You need to look for Teardrop Scarab that will drop Smithing Stone 1.
11. Travel to the Bridge of Sacrifice Site of Grace and look for a corpse hanging over the side. Looting this corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 1.

Weeping Peninsula

1. The Morne Tunnel contains up to nine pieces of Smithing Stones 1, making this an excellent farming location in Elden Ring.
2. Travel to the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace and head southeast to find the corpse. Looting the same corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 1.
3. This Smithing Stone 1 can be found by looting a corpse located close to the Behind the Castle Site of Grace.
4. Make your way south from Beside the Rampart Site of Grace. After getting there, you will find Smithing Stone 1.

Liurnia of the Lakes

Liurnia of the Lakes has only one stone that you can find by traveling to the Folly of the Lake Site of the Grace. Once there, you need to head Northwest and look for a corpse lying on top of the chair. Looting this corpse will yield you the Smithing Stone 1.

Ainsel River

1) If you can fast-travel to the Ainsel River Downstream Site of Grace, move northeast into the ruins to loot three pieces of Smithing Stone 1 in Elden Ring.

2) The second Stone location in Ainsel River is right next to the Ainsel River Sluice Gate Site of Grace. You will only get one piece here, though.

Purchase Smithing Stone 1 – Nomadic Merchants

In Elden Ring, you have the option to buy Smithing Stone 1 from Nomadic Merchant once you reach Limgrave for 200 Runes each. At any single time, you will only be able to buy three Smithing Stone 1.

The merchant can be found in three places in Limgrave. All of these locations are marked on the map below.

Twin Maiden Husk

When you reach the Roundtable Hold, you can interact with the Twin Maiden Husks NPC to purchase Smithing Stones 1 for 200 Runes each.

It is important to know that the Twin Maiden Husks need to be given a unique key item before they start selling Smithing Stones 1 in Elden Ring. This is the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 1, which can be obtained by defeating the Crystalian boss inside the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel.

Smithing Stone [2] Locations (+4 to +6)

A major chunk of the Smithing Stone 2 locations in Elden Ring can be found in the Stormveil Castle in Limgrave and the Liurnia East region. In contrast, others are spread out across the Weeping Peninsula, Main Limgrave, and West and North Liurnia. Limgrave and Liurnia also serve as the best early-game locations to farm Smithing Stone 2 in Elden Ring

West and North Liurnia Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• This Smithing 2 location is found in the western part of the Liurnia region in Elden Ring where you can find three Smithing Stone 2s. You will have to travel toward Caria Manor. As you search the garden there, look in front of the fountain to find them.
• The second Smithing Stone 2 location is closer to the Four Belfries in Liurnia West. Traveling here will take you to an Elite Enemy called Lesser Mad Pumpkin. He will be patrolling the entrance to the camp here, look to the right to spot them. You must defeat this Elite Enemy to receive a whole host of loot rewards, including a Smithing Stone 2.
• You find 3 more Smithing Stones 2 at the Testu’s Rise temple area in the Liurnia region of Elden Ring. Search the altar area and look in front of the statue to find them.
• The next Smithing Stone 2 is in Liurnia North. Travel to the indicated location on the map to take you to the Frenzy Flaming Tower. Search the area below the tower to find a corpse. You can loot the corpse to find 2 more Smithing Stone 2.
• The last location in north Liurnia is another Elite Enemy spawn point. You must search the area in front of the Ainsel River Well to find this spot. This time you can defeat the Halberd Golem to obtain a few items including a Smithing Stone 2, Smithing Stone 3, and Golem’s Halberd.

East Liurnia Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• You can find three Smithing Stone 2 in the first location in the Liurnia East region of the Elden Ring. Search the area just below the Temple Quarter to find a Gazebo. Fight off the Squid monsters guarding the area to collect the Smithing Stone 2.
• You can find three Smithing Stones 2 in the small shrine by the water level, just below Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia.
• There are three more Smith Stones just before the Academy Gate Town in Liurnia. As you go past the Giant Crab look for a corpse along the way. You can loot this corpse to obtain the Smithing stones.
• You can find three more Smithing Stone 2 by searching the gazebo in the area just before Boilprawn Shack. You’ll have to fight off the lobsters in the area to get there.
• Follow this location to take you toward the poison swamp entrance, look underneath the mountain to see it. Here you need to look for the tree with small crabs surrounding it. You will find two Smithing Stone 2 once you get there.
• There is one Smithing Stone 2 at this location, which two Ghouls defend. The area is close to the Moonfolk Ruins; search by the large tree and rock to find a swamp area where you will find the item.
• This Smithing Stone 2 location takes you inside the Lakeside Crystal Cave in Elden Ring. As you travel to the end of the pit, you will find three dead bodies. You can loot all three bodies to obtain a Smithing Stone 2, Smithing Stone 4, and Lump of Flesh, respectively.
• You can find three more Smithing Stone 2 at the Purified Ruins in Liurnia. You will find all the on Altar, just behind the statue.

Limgrave Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• This Smithing Stone 2 location can be found in Main Limgrave at the Church of Dragon Communion island. As you head to the southern end of this island you will find one Smithing Stone 2.
• You can find another Smithing Stone 2 in Stormhill, Limgrave. The location indicated on the map will take you to a cracked maiden statue. You’ll have to lure a giant toward it to make them destroy the statue. Upon the statue’s destruction, you will receive a Smithing Stone 2 as well as 5 Smithing Stone 1.
• You can find yet another Smithing Stone 2 in Stormhill, Limgrave. This location is just near the Highroad cave so follow the point indicated on the map to get there.
• There is one more Smithing Stone 2 just past the Summon Water Village in Main Limgrave. Search the corpse sitting on the stone surface in the water to obtain the item.
• The last Smithing Stone 2 in Limgrave can be found in Mistwood. Travel to the Mistwood Ruins and open the chest in the middle to obtain the stone.

Stormveil Castle Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• In the Stormveil Castle main, search the area behind the barrels to find a Smithing Stone 2 on the Rampart.
• You can find two more Smithing Stone 2 in the Underground Crypt. Look for a corpse resting on a stone ledge and loot it to obtain both Smithing Stones. Alternatively, you can also access the area by taking the Living Jars Area Hidden Passage.
• This Smithing Stone 2 can be found by looting a corpse that you find resting against a castle wall. Follow the location on the map to find it.
• Head to the courtyard in Stormveil Castle and search its middle section to find a glowing statue. You need to break this statue open for which you must head to the Secluded Cell in the northeast direction. You will find a troll here, lure it to the location of the statue to have him destroy it. Once the statue breaks you will receive a Smithing Stone 2 and 5 Smithing Stone 1.
• Before heading to this location, you must first collect 8 Kukris after which you can leap over the wall and follow the route that leads to the marked point on the map. You will find three Smithing Stone 2 at this point.
• This location will take you to an alleyway inside Stormveil Castle. As you get to the end of this passageway you will find one Smithing Stone 2.
• You must traverse the rooftops to find this location. The Smithing Stone 2 can be found by looting a corpse that is resting on the roof of a building just behind a tall tower.
• Follow the location indicated on the map to take you to a corpse that you can loot to obtain the Smithing Stone 2. You can find the area just by the Ballistae.
• As you walk to the marked location on the map, you will be led to a broken wall structure. Leap over this wall to find a corpse resting by the wall, you’ll spot it as soon as you look to your left. You can loot this body to obtain a Smithing Stone 2.

Weeping Peninsula Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• You can loot a corpse sitting next to a wagon found in the western part of the Weeping Peninsula to obtain one Smithing Stone 2.
• This location is for the Nomadic Merchant in the Weeping Peninsula, who will sell you the Smithing Stone 2 for 400 ruins.

Castle Morne Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• The first Smithing Stone in Castle Morne is found by the southern battlements. To get to the area you’ll need to head to the eastern section of the central battlements. From there, you’ll need to take a ladder to drop down to the southern battlements area. You’ll see the smithing stone once you get there.
• Upon entering Castle Morne’s main area, you must head to the far left side to find a few battlements. This is where you’ll find another Smithing Stone 2.
• This Smithing Stone 2 is found at the far rear end of Castle Morne. You’ll need to search the area where you drop down next to the wooden beams. You’ll find the Smithing Stone 2 just on top of this wooden beam structure.

Ainsel River Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• You must fast-travel to the Ainsel River Downstream Site of Grace and track in the western direction to find the location where you will find three Smithing Stone 2 pieces in Elden Ring.

Siofra River Smithing Stone 2 Locations

• This Smithing Stone location is just past the Hallowhorn Grounds in Ainsel River. Head toward the Nokron Bridge and drop down to enter the structure. You will find a corpse here looting which will give you a Smithing Stone 2.
• You can fast-travel to the Worshipers’ Woods Site of Grace and track in the north direction to find a corpse sitting beside a rock. You can loot this corpse to obtain 3 Smithing Stone 2s.
• You can fast-travel to the Worshipers’ Woods Site of Grace and track in the south direction to find a corpse. You can loot this corpse to obtain 3 Smithing Stone 2s.

Merchant / Vendor you can buy Smithing Stone 2 from

You can also purchase Smithing Stone 2 in Elden Ring. A few NPCs can sell you the Smithing Stone 2, the first of them being the Nomadic Merchant you find at Castle Morne Rampart. He will sell you only 1 Smithing Stone for 400 Runes.

You can buy the next 3 more Smithing Stone 2 by heading to the Weeping Peninsula where an Isolated Merchant NPC will sell them for 400 Runes each.

You can buy another 3 Smithing Stone 2 by heading to Liurnia of the Lakes, where a Nomadic Merchant NPC will sell them for 400 Runes each.

While these merchants will eventually run out of Smithing Stone 2, there is a way to get unlimited amounts of this upgrade material.

Once you unlock the Roundtable Hold, you can purchase an unlimited amount of Smithing Stone 2s from the Twin Maiden Husks NPC. However, the option to purchase the Smithing Stone 2 only becomes available after you give them the Smithing Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 1.

To find Smithing Stone Miners Bell Bearing 1, go to Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel. From the Liurnia of the Lakes site of grace, head north along the coast until you see an indentation in the cliff face. Go in, and you’ll be at the entrance.

Traverse the tunnel and kill every enemy you find because there is a lot of loot to pick up here, and a few enemies can even drop some Smithing Stone 2 at the entrance. Once you reach the end of the tunnel, you’ll encounter a Crystalian boss fight. Killing him will give you Smithing Stone Miners Bell Bearing 1, which you can give to the Twin Maiden Husks to acquire an unlimited amount of Smithing Stone 2.

Like all other merchants, they sell it for 400 Runes each.

Where to Farm Smithing Stone 2 in Elden Ring?

There are several areas in Elden Ring where you can farm Smithing Stone 2. While purchasing them is undoubtedly the easiest option, if you find yourself without enough Runes, you can go this route as enemies within these areas drop this item fairly regularly.

The Limgrave Tunnels in Limgrave are an excellent place to farm Smithing Stone 2; killing the enemies in the tunnel will make them drop this item very frequently. They also drop Smithing Stone 1. Stormveil Castle is another place where you can farm Smithing Stone 2. After you’ve picked the area clean, you can return here, and on occasion, the enemies will drop Smithing Stone 2.

Redmane Castle is another excellent place to farm Smithing Stone 2. The skeletal slim enemies frequently drop Smithing Stone 2 here, and they are fairly easy to defeat.

How to use Smithing Stone 2 in Elden Ring

Smithing Stone 2 allows you to upgrade your weapons and shields to +6. After you’ve acquired enough stones, go back to the Roundtable Hold and locate Smithing Master Hewg. Enter the hallway to the left of the fireplace and then take another immediate left.

Talk to him and select the Strengthen Armament option. All weapons that are ineligible for an upgrade will be greyed out. Select the weapon or shield you want to upgrade and confirm. Apart from the Smithing Stones, upgrading weapons and shields also costs a few hundred Runes, depending on what level you’re upgrading to.

You can also upgrade weapons using Smithing Tables. Smithing Tables aren’t as robust as Hewg and only allow upgrades to a certain degree. They can be found all over Elden Ring, including the Church of Elleh.

Smithing Stone [3] Locations (+7 to +9)

Smithing Stone 3 is used to upgrade your armaments up to +9 in Elden Ring. Doing so will make your weapons and shields even more deadly than they already are.

Most Smithing Stone 3 pieces can be found in and around the Liurnia of the Lakes in Elden Ring. Since this is one of the earlier areas of the game, both this and Limgrave serve as the best early locations to acquire Smithing Stone 3. Areas beyond Caelid pose a greater threat and are better for mid to late game.

Liurnia of the Lakes

1. The first Smithing Stone 3 can be found atop a corpse. You can reach the upper level to find the corpse near the massive land octopus.
2. This Stone is found just before the lift, inside a tunnel. You will find it atop a corpse.
3. You will come across 2 Singing Bats with a corpse in front of them. The Stone is found atop the corpse.
4. You will find a small door to the left wall just before reaching the main gate to the Royal Knight Loretta. You must go down to the cemetery and head down the cliff. Find a corpse to the right side behind a tomb that is guarded by a couple of Giant Living Jars. This is where you will find the Smithing Stone 3.
5. You can find three Smithing Stones 3 in front of a statue in a small shrine here.
6. Make your way to the rooftop in this location and then head over to the stone ledge around the tower to find two more Smithing Stone 3 pieces.
7. This Stone is found just past the guards atop a corpse.
8. There are three Stones found at the altar. You can find them at the front of a statue which is guarded by a Giant Glintstone Flower.
9. The three Stones can be found atop a corpse sitting on a chair which is guarded by a Giant Glintstone Flower.
10. This Smithing Stone 3 can be found at the pond. There is a corpse that you will find inside the pond near a few tombs. The Stone is found atop the corpse.
11. This Stone is found atop a corpse. To reach it, simply use the platform to drop down the side of the cliff. Hop onto the rooftop of a house to come across the corpse.
12. The three Stones can be found at the altar at the front of a statue.
13. This Stone can be found near the altar with a sending gate. Simply loot the corpse there to find the stone.

Limgrave

1. You can find Smithing Stone 3 just past the Manor Towershield on the outcrop.
2. To find this Stone, you must head past the aggressive Stormhawks to come across the stone at the end of the cliffside.

Caelid

1. This Smithing Stone 3 is found at the back of the wooden watch tower. You can find it atop a corpse.
2. You can find this Stone on the bulwark. Head left from the Flamberge and Pumpkin Head to find it atop a corpse.

Ainsel River

1. You will come across a corpse at the edge of the route. The Smithing Stone is found atop the corpse.
2. Two pieces of Smithing Stone 3 can be found on the beam which you are required to jump on.
3. This Stone is found atop a body that is guarded by a massive ant.
4. To find this Stone, you must head inside the tunnel and find it atop a corpse.

Siofra River

1. To find the first Smithing Stone 3 in this region, you must head over to the Nokron Site of Grace found behind a wall. There is a corpse near a Fallen Hawks Soldier with the Stone on it.
2. This Stone can be found behind the Imp Sealed Statue atop a corpse.
3. Two pieces of Smithing Stone 3 can be found inside the Wooden hut that can be entered through the wooden ledges at the top.
4. The last Smithing Stone 3 can be found atop the large rocky structure, on a corpse.

Where to farm Smithing Stone 3 in Elden Ring

While the areas we’ve described above can only be picked through once, some enemies found within certain locations tend to drop Smithing Stone 3 more frequently which makes them a perfect place to farm this commodity

• The guards found at the southern entrance of Raya Lucaria drop Smithing Stone 3. They aren’t awfully common but you should be able to accumulate a good amount after a while
• Mount Gelmir is another place where you can farm Smithing Stone 3. From the area’s first Site of Grace, head west until you come upon a group of soldiers. There are a lot of them, so you do need to be careful, however, your chances of picking up a Smithing Stone 3 are much increased.
• Gael Tunnel, which connects Limgrave to Caelid is another excellent place to farm Smithing Stone 3. The path is littered with enemies, greatly increasing your chance to pick up this resource.

Where to buy Smithing Stone 3 in Elden Ring

The Twin Maiden Husks are the only merchant from whom you can purchase Smithing Stone 3 in Elden Ring. Smithing Master Iji is often mentioned as a second seller, but his stock is limited to Somber Smithing Stones.

Smithing Master Iji

Smithing Master Iji is a Troll NPC and one of the many Blacksmiths found during your journey in Elden Ring. He sits on the northwestern side of Liurnia of the Lakes, on the road to Caria Manor. He does not sell regular Smithing Stones, but he will reinforce your armaments with the Smithing Stone 3 you have collected, which saves a trip back to the Roundtable Hold.

Twin Maiden Husks

Another way to purchase the Smithing Stone 3 is by visiting the Roundtable Hold and buying it from the Twin Maiden Husks. This Merchant will sell you the Stone for 600 Runes each.

However, do note that to purchase the Stone from her, you must give her the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2 or Iji’s Bell Bearing.

Elden Ring Smithing Stone 3 Bell Bearing Location

To get the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2 to acquire unlimited amounts of Smithing Stone 3, you need to make your way to the Sealed Tunnel which resides on the outskirts of Leyndell.

The easiest way to reach the tunnel is to locate the Minor Erdtree in the Altus Plateau. Right below it, you’ll be able to spot a river. Following the river to the south will eventually bring you to the Sealed Tunnels entrance.

Once at the entrance, follow the path inside, and keep heading straight until you locate the area’s Site of Grace. From there keep to your left and strike the walls as one of them is illusionary.

Beyond the illusionary wall lies a room full of enemies. Killing them will allow you to open the chest which contains the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2. Giving it to the Twin Maiden Husks will not only give you access to Smithing Stone 3 but also to Smithing Stone 4 and Cracked Crystal.

Smithing Stone [4] Locations (+10 to +12)

• Academy of Raya Lucaria
• Gael Tunnel
• Ravine-Veiled Village
• Leyndell
• Forsaken Ruins
• Purchased at the Roundtable Hold from the Twin Maiden Husks after getting the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell 2

Academy of Raya Lucaria sits in the middle of Liurnia of the Lakes.

As for the Gael Tunnel, it is found west of Caelid between the border going to Limgrave. This one is on the wall on the left side.

To find the Ravine-Veiled Village, you must visit Liurnia and head towards the north side of the lake.

Leyndell is found at the southeast side of the Altus Plateau and can only be entered through the northern outer wall.

Head to the west side of Caelid to find the Forsaken Ruins (south of Shack of the Rotting).

Smithing Stone 4 sits at the awkward middle of the game. Limgrave and Liurnia have very few, while Caelid, the Altus Plateau and the underground rivers have plenty. The pickups worth the detour are grouped by region below.

Liurnia of the Lakes

• Ruin-Strewn Precipice: the mining cave that climbs from the north end of the lake up to the Altus Plateau holds 13 Smithing Stone 4 in total, mostly embedded in the crystal walls and on the miners’ corpses. It is the single best spot for this tier.
• Caria Manor: on the altar of the small chapel inside the manor grounds.
• Four Belfries: in the chest at the enemy camp just below the belfries.
• Artist’s Shack: on a corpse sitting in a chair to the northeast of the shack.
• Lakeside Crystal Cave: on the lower levels of the cave, alongside the Smithing Stone 2 mentioned earlier.

Caelid

• Gael Tunnel: eight stones spread through the chambers of the tunnel that links Limgrave to Caelid. Clear it room by room and check every corpse.
• Swamp of Aeonia: three stones on a corpse sitting in a chair on the southern bank of the swamp.
• Redmane Castle: one on the pile of corpses near the main gate and one on the corpse above the building in the centre of the castle.
• Forsaken Ruins: on a corpse inside the ruins, south of the Shack of the Rotting.

Altus Plateau and Mt. Gelmir

• Leyndell, Royal Capital: four pickups. Drop to the platform below after the first Oracle Envoy, check inside the small chapel, and look for the corpse on the patio in the cemetery district.
• The Shaded Castle: two stones, one on a hanging corpse inside the wooden structure and one in the stable area.
• Volcano Manor: four stones on a fallen column in the lava caverns beneath the manor.

Underground

• Siofra River: three stones, at the base of the waterfall, in the room with the Giant Poison Flower, and on a dangling corpse in the south of the river.
• Ainsel River: one on a corpse on top of the tall archway, and another on a corpse in the cave at Ainsel River Main.
• Deeproot Depths: one on the corpse where the first Giant Ants fly around, and two more over the gravestones in the northwest.
• Uhl Palace Ruins: on a corpse leaning against a wall.

Where to farm Smithing Stone 4 in Elden Ring

The miners working the walls of the Ruin-Strewn Precipice ignore you until struck and can be backstabbed without sneaking, so a lap of the cave is the fastest farm for this tier. Radahn Soldiers and the miners in Gael Tunnel also drop it, and the Stone Diggers of the Ravine-Veiled Village sit right outside the precipice.

Where to buy Smithing Stone 4 in Elden Ring

The Twin Maiden Husks sell Smithing Stone 4 for 900 Runes each once you have handed them the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2 from the Sealed Tunnel.

Smithing Stone [5] Locations (+13 to +15)

If your armaments have reached +12 in the Elden Ring, you must find Smithing Stone 5 to strengthen them further, up to +15.

The Smithing Stones 5 are scattered throughout the game, and a maximum of 999 can be held by a player at a time. Most of them are looted from corpses. They are also present in the three underground regions.

Redmane Castle

1) Go to the building south of Redmane Castle; the stone can be looted from a corpse you encounter there.

2) Go to the Redmane Castle’s southeast and climb the ladder on the tower. Once on the roof, you will find the corpse with the Smithing Stone 5.

Sellia Crystal Tunnel

1) In the open field in Caelid, at the location marked on the map above, there will be a bunch of Mushrooms. You can loot the stone piece from here, but beware of the raven that guards it.

2) Go to the north of Sellia Evergaol and the location marked on the map above. You can find three Smithing Stones 5 within a statue here, but to access these stones, you must break the statue, which can be done by luring a Dragon found east of the statue.

3) Sellia Crystal Tunnel is easily one of the best farming locations for Smithing Stones 5 in Elden Ring. All you have to do is farm the Glintstone Miners here.

You can get up to seven Smithing Stone 5 pieces in one go by heading to the storage room, the main cavern, and then the rest of the tunnel.

The same Miners also drop Somber Smithing Stone 4, so you can farm both upgrade materials simultaneously.

Raya Lucaria Academy

1) At this location, you will come across Bloody Finger Hunter Yura, who will require your help defeating the Bloody Finger Assassin. Win the fight and then converse with Yura, who will reward you with the required stone.

2) In Raya Lucaria Academy, reach the point marked by taking an elevator and accessing the underground level. Loot the Smithing Stone 5 from the corpse found here.

3) Look for the curved staircase at the end of the Iron ball trap. You will find the Smithing stone pieces here.

Leyndell, Royal Capital

1) At the point marked on the map above, look at the side of the road, and you will see a corpse. Loot the stone from this corpse.

2) Go to the area marked on the map where giant golems are present. The stone piece here is also looted from a corpse.

3) This stone piece is located inside the Sealed Tunnel in a cavern. To find this stone, go to the lower level by defeating the Abductor Virgin enemy and head northwest.

4) Loot the Smithing Stone 5 from a corpse hanging from a house.

5) In the Fortified Manor, access the lower level behind the Armory Room where the corpse with this stone is present.

6) Look for the room with swords displayed on a table in the Fortified Manor. Go to the balcony near this room to find a corpse with the Smithing stone.

7) Go to the roof at the marked location on the map. A corpse has taken possession of the stone here.

8) look for a room filled with pipes in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds. Here, you will come across a corpse that can be looted for the stone.

9) Go to the cliff that is facing Erdtree. Loot the stone from the corpse present there.

Altus Tunnel

The Altus Tunnel south of the Minor Erdtree is an excellent location to farm Smithing Stone 5 pieces in Elden Ring. You can farm up to six Smithing Stones 5 here.

Start from the first cavern, where you will find the first stone. Move to the second cavern, where you will find three more stones: one in the entryway, one under the wooden walkway, and the last near a big root.

Now move to the cavern with the boss door for the rest of the 2 stones. One will be present near the entryway and the other near the boss’s door.

The Shaded Castle

1) Go west from the Shaded Castle and look for a corpse leaning against a rock behind a giant. Loot the stone from this corpse.

2) Go to the western ramparts and head north till you see a corpse guarded by the Giant Miranda Sprout. Defeat it and loot the corpse for the stone.

3) Go to the northwest building and cross the northern ramparts. Now, climb the stairs till you reach the roof of the northeast building. Here, you will come across a Wildlife Creature known as the Rotten Stray guarding a corpse with the stone you are looking for.

4) Go to the east of the Shaded Castle into the inner courtyard and then climb the ladder there. You will reach the point on the map, and a dead body will possess the stone.

5) Look for the Poison Pond between the dead tree and southern ramparts. A dead body here can be looted for the stone.

6) This Smithing Stone 5 can be looted from the dead body in the rampart near the roof.

Altus Plateau

1) In the Volcano Manor, drop down from the higher roof to reach the lower one. A corpse will be hanging from here that possesses the required stone.

2) You will find a corpse in Mt. Gelmir lying on the ground. Loot it to get the Smithing Stone 5.

3) This stone is inside the Wyndham Ruins. Go to the south inside the ruins till you see a dead body with two skeletons near it. The stone is found on this body.

4) Head northeast from the Abandoned Coffin Site of Grace till you reach the point marked on the map. A corpse will be present there that possesses the Smithing Stone 5.

5) Near the Ravine Veiled Village Site of Grace, a dead body will be present in a small building. Loot the stone piece from this corpse.

6) Go to the caves running through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice till you ride an elevator. Halfway up the elevator, you will see the stone.

Castle Sol

1) Look for a wooden structure opposite the main gate. A corpse with the Smithing stone will be present under this structure.

2) Look for the church in Castle Sol and go to its right. A hanging corpse possesses the stone here.

Deeproot Depths

1) In the underground Deeproot Depths, a corpse will be present on the ground at the marked point, and a few soldiers will be around it. The Smithing Stone 5 is on this corpse.

2) On the rooftop here, look for a corpse lying on the ground and loot it for the coveted stone.

Ainsel River

1) Go to the caves of the main Ainsel River. You will find a corpse here that possesses the stone.

2) Another Smithing Stone 5 is on a corpse located on the stairs of the Grand Cloister.

Siofra River

1) Near the Siofra Aqueduct, you will encounter a corpse sitting on a chair. Loot it to obtain the stone.

2) Reach the marked point in Nokron Eternal City and loot the stone from the dead body.

3) The Smithing Stone 5 will be at the marked point with a pillar with some raised area.

4) In Nokron Eternal City, you will come across the bridge ruin after fighting off the boss known as Mimic Tear. The dead body present here will give off the stone.

5) In the graveyard of the Nokron Eternal City, at the point marked, you will find a dead body with the Smithing Stone 5.

6) Go to the courtyards of Nokron Eternal City by the rooftop path, and here, you will find the dead body with the stone in a corner.

Where to buy Smithing Stone 5 in Elden Ring

One merchant NPC in Elden Ring will sell you Smithing Stones 5 in exchange for Runes and a key item.

This NPC Merchant is the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold, looking like two conjoined Finger Readers. You can buy Smithing Stone 5 here for 1200 Runes, but only after you have to give them the Smithing Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3, which is in the Zamor Ruins of the Mountaintops of the Giants region.

Smithing Stone [6] Locations (+16 to +18)

Most Smithing Stones 6 can be found in Volcano Manor, Leyndell, Royal Capital, and late-game areas like Deeproot Depths and Ainsel River. This section covers every location where you can find this item and how to acquire an unlimited amount of it.

Volcano Manor

1) You must get to the Volcano Manor Grace’s top floor and search the dining hall’s corner to find the corpse holding the Smithing Stone 6. An Inquisitor Ghiza will protect the area.

2) There is a corpse dangling from the rooftop at this location. Climb over there to loot the corpse for a Smithing Stone 6.

3) Head to the Smoldering Shield area and drop to the lava lakes. There is a little piece of land here you need to get to loot a corpse with two pieces of Smithing Stone 6 in Elden Ring.

4) You can find two Smithing Stones 6 in this location. The marked location will take toward a building near the Guest Hall Grace. You will find a corpse hanging by the rooftop edge. Climb the building and loot the corpse to obtain both smithing stones.

5) You can get three pieces of Smithing Stone 6 from this location. All you have to do is lure the nearby Rune Bear to charge into the stone statue. That will destroy the statue to reveal the Stones.

6) This smithing stone is found in the southeastern part of the volcano manor, where you’ll enter the lava-filled caverns. The pillars allow you to access the corpse, which you can loot to obtain the item.

Leyndell, Royal Capital

1) The first location is inside the Sealed Tunnel, where three Smithing Stone 6 will be found. The sealed tunnel entrance is by the Capital Outskirts area. You can head to the western entrance to the Leyndell Royal Capital to find the access point near the lake.

2) This smithing stone is found within a wooden structure inside the Leyndell Royal Capital. You’ll need a stone sword key to enter the tower. Once inside, search for a corpse and loot it to obtain the item.

3) Head toward the Sanctified Whetblade, and, from there, move toward the location marked on the map. This will lead you toward a manor. You must search the stairs of this manor to find a corpse holding the Smithing Stone 6.

4) Follow the location marked on the map to lead you toward a rampart. You will notice a corpse resting by the corner of this rampart. Loot the corpse to obtain the Smithing Stone 6.

5) This Smithing Stone 6 location can be accessed by heading toward the Western rampart in Leyndell and using the large tree branches to get to the broken bridge. You will find a corpse dangling near this run-down bridge, which you can loot to obtain the item.

6) Follow the marked location to the Ulcerated Tree spirit area in Leyndell. The Smithing Stone 6 can be found on a corpse here.

7) This Smithing Stone 6 location is near the residential area in Leyndell Royal Capital. So, the corpse holding the stone will be found next to a house in the area.

8) This Smithing Stone 6 location is inside a little garden in the Leyndell main area. The garden will be protected by a Page that you must take care of before looting the corpse that holds the Smithing Stone 6.

9) This Smithing Stone is found atop a building within the Leyndell main area. You can get to the roof by jumping off the SeedBed Curse floor.

10) This Smithing Stone 6 location is close to the previous one. You can access the court by using the roof of the previous building, where you found the last Smithing Stone 6. You will find a flower pot here, and right next to it, a corpse holding the Smithing Stone 6.

11) Head to the Forsaken Depths Site of Grace and start moving toward the marked location through the corridor. You will find a corpse inside this corridor, which you can loot to find the next Smithing Stone 6.

12) The last Smithing Stone 6 location in Leyndell has two Smithing Stones for you. Head to the marked location, lure the Runebear over and use it to attack Maiden Statue. It will break the statue for you and let you collect the items.

Redmane Castle

1) This Elden Ring Smithing Stone 6 is in the northern section of the Redmane Castle. You will be led to a chapel where you will find a corpse holding the item.

2) Head southwest from the Redmane castle gate to find the lookout tower outside. Now turn toward cliffs just south of the castle gate and use them to hoist yourself over the roof of the lookout tower.

Now, climb down to the middle level using the ladder. You will find a corpse dangling by the ledge on this level. Loot it to obtain the Smithing Stone 6.

3) You must head south from the main plaza and approach the easternmost structure inside the Redmane Castle area. The smithing stone is inside a chest on the top floor of a wooden structure. You can start by the eastern gate building and traverse your way across from the rooftops.

Crumbling Farum Azula

Crumbling Farum Azula is a legacy dungeon similar to the Volcano Manor. The Dungeon itself can be considered a mini region that can be entered once you head to the Forge of Giants Site of Grace, where you’ll find Melina. Talking to her will immediately transport you to the Crumbling Farum Azula.

The second way to enter this region is only if you talk with the Three Fingers instead. With this heading to the same Forge of Giants Site of Grace will give you an action choice. “Listen to the Sound of Flames” will allow you to transport here.

1) Head to the Dragon Temple Rooftop Site of Grace to get to this Smithing Stone location. From there, you can reach the point marked on the map by heading northeast, which will take you to a Martyr Effigy statue. You will find a corpse beside this statue, so you can loot it to obtain the Smithing Stone 6.

2) The second Elden Ring Smithing Stone 6 location will lead you toward a corpse dangling by a ledge. You can reach the correct location by starting from the Dragon Temple Site of Grace and then taking the right path. You can identify it by a Banished Knight in the near vicinity. Loot this corpse to obtain the item.

3) This location will lead you toward another corpse dangling to a ledge, this time inside a crumbling attic area. The building can be accessed by heading toward the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths Site of Grace. From there, you must head in the northwestern direction to lead you to the building.

The smithing stone is found on the topmost floor of this building. Head to the next over from the site of grace. You can jump from the balcony to the red roof on your right side.

From here, you can climb to the top of the next building, where you’ll find the corpse holding the Smithing Stone 6.

4) You must head to the southwest part of the Crumbling Farum Azula. The Smithing Stone 6 is found by looting a corpse sitting on the stone path in the central part of the circular bridge platform.

Deeproot Depths

The next 5 Smithing Stone 6 locations are found inside the Deeproot Depths. Once the coffin access point is unlocked, this underground area only becomes available later in your Elden Ring journey. You’ll have to complete the Valiant Gargoyle boss battle in Siofra Aqueduct.

You can also head to the Subterranean Shunning Grounds and travel to the Frenzied Flame Proscription to find another access point through a secret tunnel passage.

1) Get to the top of the building marked on the map above. You will find a corpse on the roof that you can loot to obtain the Smithing Stone.

2) This Smithing Stone 6 is near the Nameless Eternal City site of grace. You can travel from there to the point marked on the map, where you’ll find the stone by the end of the root.

3) This Smithing Stone 6 location will take you to an ancient ruins area protected by 9 Basilisks. You must defeat or get past them before searching for a corpse. You can loot this corpse to obtain the item.

4) For this fourth smithing stone location, you must head to the Root Facing Cliffs site of grace. This will allow you an entry point where you can find the Smithing Stone 6 sitting at the edge of the branch.

5) You can head to the Great Waterfall Crest Site of Grace as a reference point and make your way over to the location on the map. You will be led to the corners of the branch. You will find a corpse that you can loot to obtain the item.

Siofra River

1) This Smithing Stone 6 location is on the northern part of the eastern peninsula in the Siofra Region.

2) The second Smithing Stone 6 is also found on the same eastern island. The location on the map will lead you toward a corpse that can be looted to obtain the item.

3) Following this location on the map will lead you toward a corpse resting on a few rocks holding the Smithing Stone 6. You can identify the correct area by the presence of a Red Albinauric Patrol.

Ainsel River

The next set of Smithing Stone 6 locations are inside the Ainsel River region of Elden Ring which features a vast cavern cave system. You can enter the region through its northern entry point, Ainsel River Main, in two ways.

The first is to head to the Deeproot Depths and use the coffin to travel here. The second method requires you to give the Fingerslayer Blade to Ranni which will open the access point at Renna’s Rise.

You can always get here through the southern entry point accessed by using the Ainsel River Well.

1) This Smithing Stone is found near a building inside the Nokstella, Eternal City. Look for a corpse near the building edge and loot it to obtain the smithing stone. Remember that as soon as you obtain the item, you will be attacked by a bunch of snails.

2) The second Smithing Stone 6 is inside the Nokstella, Eternal City. Move toward the second building, as shown on the map above, and loot the corpse by the side to obtain the item.

3) This smithing stone 6 is found inside the ruins outside Nokstella. Loot the corpse you find here to obtain the item.

4) The fourth Smithing Stone 6 is by the edge of the Grand Cloister. You must search the area near the waterfall to find a corpse that holds the item. You will await an attack by a strange beast as soon as you collect it.

Where to get Smithing Stone 6 Bell Bearing in Elden Ring?

In Elden Ring, you can purchase unlimited quantities of Smithing Stone 6, given you have the right item. The item in question is called Smithing-stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3, and it must be presented to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold.

Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3 can be found inside a chest in the basement of the Zamor Ruins (pictured on the map above). Pick up this item and give it to the Twin Maiden Husks to purchase an unlimited quantity of Smithing Stones 5 and 6.

Smithing Stone [7] Locations (+19 to +21)

Smithing Stone 7 is an upgrade material in Elden Ring. This rare, semi-vitrified smithing stone will take your weapons and shields to a maximum of +21 level, after which you need to get your hands on Smithing Stone 8.

Getting your hands on one is easy since it is found all throughout the Lands Between, most abundantly in the polar regions like Mountaintops of the Giants. The only thing remaining to reinforce your weapon is the help of a trained blacksmith and some runes, both of which are readily available in the game.

The best location to farm Smithing Stone 7 is around the snowy peaks of Mountaintops of the Giants as well as Leyndell, Royal Capital.

Leyndell, Royal Capital

1. For the first Stone, you need to travel to the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace and head Northeast. Here, you need to enter a room full of pipes and look for Scarab beside the two Lobsters. This Scarab will drop Smithing Stone 7.
2. The second Smithing Stone 7 can be looted from the corpse located close to the Leyndell Catacombs Site of Grace. The room will be guarded by a lobster and is filled with pipes.
3. Starting at the Leyndell Catacombs Site of Grace, make your way Southwest and approach the bridge. You will find a corpse on the bridge that will have the Smithing Stone 7.
4. For the fourth stone, you need to get inside the sewer pipe located east of the Underground Roadside Site of Grace. Once inside, you will find Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse guarded by the Scarabs.
5. The fifth stone can also be found in the same sewer pipe located east of the Underground Roadside Site of Grace. Once inside, you will find Smithing Stone 7 after looting the corpse.
6. If you travel further northeast from the last Site of Grace, you will find another Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse.
7. Travel to the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace and look for two Omen Ogres in front of a statue. Behind the statue, there will be a corpse that will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
8. The eight Smithing Stone 7 can be looted from the corpse located west of the Capital Rampart Site of Grace. The corpse will be located in the room connected by the sewer pipes.

Miquella’s Haligtree

1. For the first stone, you need to travel to the Haligtree Town Site of Grace and head Southeast. From there, you need to look for Wooden Bridge that will have a corpse at the end. Looting the corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
2. Travel to the Drainage Channel Site of Grace and look for a room guarded by the three soldiers. After getting inside, you will get the Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse inside.
3. Make your way to the room located west of Haligtree Roots Site of Grace in Miquella’s Haligtree. Once there, you will find Smithing Stone 7 after looting the corpse inside.

Mountaintops of the Giants

1. The first stone can be found close to the Apostate Derelict Site of Grace. From there, you need to make your way Southwest and look for a Statue. Lure the rune bear located on the East hill to smash the statue. Doing so will get you the Smithing Stone 7.
2. To get the second stone, make your way toward the Ordina, Liturgical Town Site of Grace. Once there, you need to travel Southeast White Scarab along the Pillar. Looting the Scarab will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
3. Travel to the Cave of the Forlorn Site of Grace and look for Golem’s Mass Grave. After getting there, you will find Smithing Stone 7.
4. Make your way to the Castle Sol Main Gate Site of Grace and get inside the castle. The castle will have Smithing Stone 7.
5. Head towards the Freezing Lake Site of Grace and find a statue located on the side of the lake. Lure the giant located nearby to break open the statue and get the Smithing Stone 7.
6. Look for the wooden structure located close to the Whiteridge Site of Grace. After getting there, you will get the Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse.
7. Travel to the First Church of Marika Site of Grace and look for a corpse laying on top of a chair. Looting the corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
8. The eighth stone can be found by traveling to the Yelough Anix Tunnel Site of Grace. After getting there, you will find Smithing Stone 7 from a corpse located on the path of the tunnel.
9. For this stone, you need to find your way toward the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace. Here, you will be able to loot Smithing Stone 7 from the Scarab disguised as a tree.
10. For the tenth stone, you need to make your way toward the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave Site of Grace. Once there, you need to head south and look for a corpse near the cliff. Looting the corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
11. Travel to the Church of Repose Site of Grace on the Mountaintops of the Giants. Here, you will find Smithing Stone 7 beside the blackbird.
12. This Smithing Stone 7 can be found inside the mouth of the skull statue located Southwest of the Grand Lift of Rold Site of Grace.

Volcano Manor

1. For the first stone, you need to make your way toward the Prison Town Church Site of Grace. Here, you will come across Abductor Virgin guarding the corpse along the bridge. Looting the corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
2. If you travel further South from the Prison Town Church Site of Grace, you will come across the Magma Wyrm. Past him, there will be a corpse that will give you the Smithing Stone 7.

Liurnia of the Lakes

Make your way towards the Altar South Site of Grace and head North into the Chapel. Inside, you will come across the Red Wolf of Radagon that will have two Smithing Stone 7, one on each side.

Crumbling Farum Azula

1. The first stone can be found close to the Dragon Temple Lift Site of Grace. Once there, you need to look for a ledge located Northeast. You will then come across the corpse that can be looted for the Smithing Stone 7.
2. Make your way towards the Dragon Temple Altar Site of Grace. Once there, head inside and climb towards the ledge of the temple where you will find Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse.
3. For the third stone, you need to head toward Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace. There will be a ruin close by that will have a corpse hanging from the ledge. Looting the corpse will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
4. If you travel to the south end of the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace, you will come across a corpse that will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
5. For this stone, you need to travel north from the Maliketh, the Black Blade Site of Grace. Doing so, you will enter a ruin where you will find Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse next to the Golden Seed.
6. Make your way to the Northwest of the Tempest-Facing Balcony Site of Grace. Here, you will find Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse located on top of the floating structure.
7. This Smithing Stone 7 is also found on a corpse located on top of the floating structure. The floating structure is located Northwest of the Tempest-Facing Balcony Site of Grace.
8. For the eighth stone, you need to travel to the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths Site of Grace. After defeating the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths, you will find Smithing Stone 7 on top of the coffin located in the boss room.

Caelid

There is only one Smithing Stone 7 in Caelid and can be found by traveling to the Sellia Hideaway Site of Grace. From there, you will find the stone from the corpse located on top of the big white cliff north.

Deeproot Depths

1. The first stone can be found in a church close to the Nameless Eternal City Site of Grace. Once there, you need to proceed West where you will come across a corpse that can be looted for the Smithing Stone 7.
2. If you travel North from the Nameless Eternal City Site of Grace, you will come across a building. It has a corpse located if you climb to the ledge which will drop the Smithing Stone 7.
3. The third stone can be found inside the same ruin located north of Nameless Eternal City Site of Grace. Once there, you will find Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse inside the building.
4. This stone can be found inside the cave located West of the Across the Roots Site of Grace. The cave will be guarded by the Runebear and once inside, you will get the Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse.
5. For this stone, you need to make your way towards the church located Northwest of the Across the Root Site of Grace. Smithing Stone 7 can be found on the body located on the roof of the church which can be reached by using Spiritspring.
6. The sixth stone will be located inside the crater located further South from the Across the Root Site of Grace. The crater can be accessed by dropping down from the waterfall. Once inside, you will find Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse.

Siofra River

1. Make your way to the Northwest of the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint Site of Grace. Here, you will find Smithing Stone 7 from the corpse located next to the tomb.
2. The second Smithing stone 7 can be found from the corpse located Northeast from the Dynasty Mausoleum Site of Grace.

Ainsel River

1. The first stone can be found after traveling to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace in Ainsel River. Once there, you need to head East to the edge of the cliff where Smithing Stone 7 can be looted from the body.
2. For this stone, you need to head further north into the building from the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace. You then need to look for a chest in the building that will give you the Smithing Stone 7.
3. The third Smithing Stone 7 is also found in the chest located in the building. You can access the building by heading west from the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella.
4. For the next Smithing Stone 7, you need to defeat the Malformed Star located south of the Ainsel River Main Site of Grace.
5. Make your way towards the Lake of Rot Shoreside Site of Grace and head south towards the building. The building is located along the Lake of Rot and has Smithing Stone 7 on the inside wall.
6. For this stone, you need to head west from the Lake of Rot Shoreside Site of Grace along the edge of the lake. You will then find Smithing Stone 7 on the rocky outcrop.
7. Travel to the Grand Cloister Site of Grace where the bloody waterfall ends. Once there, you will find Smithing Stone 7.

Where to farm Smithing Stone 7 in Elden Ring

While you will be able to find an abundance of Smithing Stone 7 in Elden Ring, once you run out you can turn to the two locations we’ve listed below to farm them.

• Yelough Anix Tunnel: This is an excellent area to farm Smithing Stone 7 in Elden Ring. You will find a guaranteed drop here, as we’ve described above, however, killing enemies in the area will net you even more stones
• Haligtree Prayer Room: This farming location works similarly to the Yelough Anix Tunnel, while there are guaranteed drops here, killing all the enemies in the area will net you a host of Smithing Stones, namely 7 and 8.

The easiest way to get Smithing Stone 7 in Elden Ring is to purchase them. Not only does this eliminate the need to grind but with the method described below you can get an unlimited amount of them in exchange for Runes.

Where to buy Smithing Stone 7 in Elden Ring

In Elden Ring, Smithing Stone 7 can only be purchased at one location. You can buy Smithing Stone 7 from the merchant located in Roundtable Hold known as the Twin Maiden Husk.

For each Smithing Stone 7, you need to pay 2400 Runes. However, to unlock the inventory of this merchant, you must have Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4 with you.

How to find Smithing Stone 7 Bell Bearing in Elden Ring

To acquire the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4, which gives you unlimited quantities of Smithing Stone 7, you’ll need to go to Crumbling Farum Azula, which is one of the last new areas you’ll encounter in the game right after the Mountaintops of the Giants. When you’re in the area, head towards the dungeons until you find the Dragon Temple Site of Grace.

From there, simply head north and you’ll find yourself at the arena of Godskin Duo, the boss you have to defeat to get the bell bearing. After you’ve defeated the boss, simply head back to the Round Table Hold and give the bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks.

Smithing Stone [8] Locations (+22 to +24)

Smithing Stone 8 is an upgrade material in Elden Ring that you can utilize to increase the level of your regular weapons and shields up to +24. These upgrades are crucial as you need powerful equipment against the challenging bosses of the game.

Some areas such as Miquella’s Haligtree, Mountaintops of the Giants, and Crumbling Farum Azula provide great farming opportunities for Smithing Stone 8 in Elden Ring, while areas like Caelid and Leyndell are good for acquiring them early on.

Caelid

1) You can get the Smithing Stone 8 by moving southwest from the location of the Elder Dragon Greyoll in Elden Ring.

Reach the top of the white cliff to bag the stone by interacting with the corpse present at the edge of it. Additionally, you can also obtain one Stonesword Key from the exact location.

Crumbling Farum Azula

The Crumbling Farum Azula is one of the best places to farm Smithing Stone 8 in Elden Ring. You can obtain up to 9 stones quickly from this small area of the game.

1) The first Smithing Stone 8 is accessible if you move north from the Crucible Knight location in Elden Ring.

You need to cross the area to reach the second broken platform. At the edge of the platform, you will find a hanging corpse that you can loot to obtain the stone.

2) The second Smithing Stone 8 can be obtained by moving northwest from the Dragonlord Placidusax in Elden Ring.

You will come across a Skeletal Beastman on your way toward the stone, so make a quick end of it before collecting the stone from the hanging corpse.

3) For the third Smithing Stone 8, you must move west from the Dragon location. You can loot the corpse present right in front of the dragon for another stone in this region.

4) Next, Smithing Stone 8 is found on a floating ruin that you can reach easily in Elden Ring. You have to move northwest from the Tempest-Facing Balcony Site of Grace to find a tower that contains the Ancient Dragon Apostle’s Cookbook 4.

On the left side of the building, you will find a structure that you can use to drop down on the floating ruin. There you will loot the stone with ease.

5) If you move west from the Tempest-Facing Balcony Site of Grace, you will find the 5th piece of Smithing Stone 8 in Elden Ring.

This one is again present on a flying platform, and you have to reach the lowest level of it. You will come across several wormface enemies here, indicating the correct location.

6) You can get the 6th stone by moving east from Crumbling Beast Grave Depths Grace in the game. You will find a corpse inside a corridor that you need to loot for this stone.

7) This region’s 7th Smithing Stone 8 is a pretty easy catch in Elden Ring. You just have to move toward the top of the Broken Bridge. At the end of the bridge, you will find a corpse that provides you with one more stone.

8) To get the 8th Smithing Stone 8, move east from the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths Grace toward the stone path. Almost in the middle of the track, you will find a corpse you can loot to acquire one more piece.

9) The last Smithing Stone 8 of this region is found close to the pond in the game. Moving southwest from the previous stone location to find a corpse close to the shore that has another Stone.

Leyndell, Royal Capital

1) To get the only Smithing Stone 8 of Leyndell, Royal Capital, you have to move toward the Subterranean Shunning Grounds in Elden Ring.

There you will find multiple Scarabs inside the sewer pipes, and close to these creatures lies a corpse that you have to loot to get the stone.

Liurnia of the Lakes

1) Head south from where you encounter the Red Wolf of Radagon to reach a Church. You can find up to three pieces of Smithing Stone 8 here.

2) Similar to the first one, you can bag three more Smithing Stones 8 in Liurnia of the Lakes. Make your way east from the Royal Revenant to encounter an illusionary floor in the Lunar Estate Ruins. Destroy the floor to gain access to a chest with the Stones.

Miquella’s Haligtree

1) The first Smithing Stone 8 is found west of the Putrid Avatar location in Elden Ring. You will spot two Ballistas and a rampart. Just head toward the ledge of the rampart for the Stone.

You just have to move toward the rampart present on the site, and there will be two Ballista at the same place. Move toward the ledge of the rampart to find the stone.

2) You can only get this Smithing Stone 8 by taking care of the Royal Revenant in Elden Ring. The stone is found by looting a corpse present inside the small court. You must reach the tree in the court to get the stone.

3) To get the third piece of Smithing Stone 8, you have to move northwest from the location of Malenia, Blade of Miquella in Elden Ring.

You will encounter a few soldiers guarding a small platform. Defeat the soldiers and get on the platform to loot the corpse for another stone.

4) Head west from Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree to come across a small building near a statue. Head inside to loot a corpse for another Smithing Stone 8 in Elden Ring.

5) The fifth Smithing Stone 8 is obtained by moving east from the Haligtree Town Site of Grace. You must go inside the Gazebo to collect the stone from a dead body.

6) This region’s last Smithing Stone 8 is located on the southeast side of the Haligtree Canopy Grace. You must move toward the marked location to find a corpse sitting on the chair.

This is also a prime area to farm Smithing Stone 8 as the Haligtree soldiers here have a chance to drop the item. You can repeat the area several times to stockpile Smithing Stone 8

Mountaintops of the Giants

1) The first Smithing Stone 8 is found northwest of the Rune Bear in Elden Ring. You can also collect multiple other stones from this site, but you must follow a particular method to get the stones.

You must lure the Rune Bear toward the marked location and let it smash the statue that contains the Smithing Stone 8.

2) The second Smithing Stone 8 is situated in the middle of the snowy area. You will come across several white trees with their base covered with reddish flowers. You will find a corpse sitting next to one of the trees, and you just have to interact with it to loot the stone.

3) The Yelough Anix Tunnel is undoubtedly the best farming place for Smithing Stone 8 in Elden Ring. The tunnel is located next to the Astel, Stars of Darkness boss. Make your way inside it to gain 8x Smithing Stones in Elden Ring.

4) You can get one more Smithing Stone 8 by moving west from the Putrid Avatar location in Elden Ring.

You have to move through the snowy area to a range of mountains. At the base of them, a corpse will be placed next to a large tree. Loot the corpse to get one more stone.

5) The last marked location allows you to farm 3x Smithing Stone in Elden Ring. You have to move south from the Putrid Avatar location toward a statue near the river.

6) Using a teleporter located just west of the consecrated snowfield, you can enter Mohgwyn palace where you can pick up one Smithing Stone 8 near a tree in the swamp area.

You cannot break the statue on your own, so you must lure the nearby Land Octopi or the Giant Crab to break the statue. The broken statue will provide you with three more stones for your weapon upgrades.

Siofra River

1) You need to visit the large Cave guarded by Sanguine Noble to gain multiple Smithing Stone 8 in Elden Ring.

Once inside the Cave, move south from your enemy’s location to find a corpse sitting next to a wall. You need to loot it to gain 3x Smithing Stones in the game.

2) The Last Smithing Stone 8 is found on a corpse sitting next to a wall. You can reach the location by moving east from the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance Site of Grace.

Where to buy Smithing Stone 8 in Elden Ring

You can obtain the Smithing Stone 8 by visiting the Twin Maiden Husks in Elden Ring. This well-known merchant offers several resources, including the stones you require.

To meet the merchant, you have to move toward the Roundtable Hold, however, you must also have the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4 to initiate the purchase.

Moreover, you can hold a maximum of 99 Smithing Stones 8 and 999 such stones can be stored in Elden Ring.

Smithing Stone 8 Bell Bearing Location

Smithing Stone 7 and 8 can be purchased in unlimited quantities once you acquire the Bell Bearing for these items. Specifically, you need to acquire Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4.

This item is dropped by Godskin Duo, a boss where you have to fight two enemies Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble. They are found in Crumbling Farum Azula and you must talk to Melina to reach this area.

Offer it to the twin maiden husks and you’ll be able to buy an unlimited quantity of Smithing Stone 7 and Smithing Stone 8. The former for 2,400 runes each and the latter for 3,600 runes each.

Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone Locations (+25)

Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones are the pieces required to upgrade your regular weapons and shields by +25 levels in Elden Ring.

You can use these stones with your weapons at any blacksmith shop, but if you want to upgrade your special armaments, you need Somber Smithing Stones and Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones in the game.

These upgrade materials are more challenging to collect as you might face several enemies guarding these rare pieces. So come prepared by knowing the locations and dangers you might encounter while gathering these Ancient Stones in Elden Ring.

There are a total of 13 Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones scattered across the map in the base game, and Shadow of the Erdtree adds eight more, which are covered in the DLC section further down.

Miquella’s Haligtree

You can treat yourself by reaching the Miquella’s Haligtree area to obtain two Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones in Elden Ring.

1) You can get the first Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone by moving north from the location of Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree in Elden Ring.

There you will find a tower that you must climb to reach the top area. Upon exploration of the top of the tower, you will find a chest that contains this much-needed upgrade material.

2) Moving north-south from the Loretta location, you will come across Miquella’s Haligtree legacy dungeon in Elden Ring.

From here, a little movement toward the South will push you toward a hugging Statue. You are going to face 1 Crusader and  2 Misbegotten before looting the corpse below the statue for another Ancient Dragon Stone.

Mountaintops of the Giants

You can find four Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones in the Mountaintops of the Giants, a rather tough region that you can enter in the late game.

1) Head to the Church of Repose in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Once there, look directly toward the southeast and notice a massive skull. Climb up to the skull and go inside its mouth to find the first Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

2) After defeating the Night’s Cavalry, head directly to the west until you find the Yelough Anix Tunnel. From the Site of Grace inside the tunnel, head forward, take a right, and dropdown. Go into the area ahead, drop down, and loot the corpse to the left to get an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

3) Head to the Inner Consecrated Snowfield and rest at the Site of Grace until nighttime. Afterward, head straight towards the southwest from the Site of Grace until you reach the caravan.

You’ll encounter two mini-bosses near this caravan, known as the Night’s Cavalry. Defeat the two bosses to get an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

4) For the fourth Ancient Dragon Stone, you need to move north of the Great Wyrm Theodorix location. You will come across a large frozen waterfall just above the Magma Wyrm. You will find the last Ancient Stone of this area at the edge of the waterfall.

Crumbling Farum Azula

The Crumbling Farum Azula is the region full of dragons and Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones in Elden Ring. You can explore the whole area to get up to a total of three of them.

1) Once inside the dungeon, walk towards the southwest until you see a curved platform. You will be attacked by a Farum Azula Dragon as soon as you reach the platform. Defeat the dragon to get the first Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone from this dungeon.

2) Look for the Crumbling Beast Grace Depths Site of Grace in the dungeon. After finding it, go to the area above the grace site, and you’ll see a Beastman guarding a corpse. Defeat the Beastman and loot the corpse to get the second Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone from this dungeon.

3) From the Dragon Temple Rooftop Site of Grace, head towards the southeast and enter the plaza. At the very end of the plaza, you’ll see another Farum Azula Dragon. Defeat the dragon to get the final Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone from this dungeon.

Raya Lucaria Grand Library

1) This Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone can be obtained as a reward from the Sorceress Sellen questline, but only if you side with Witch-Hunter Jerren in Elden Ring.

You will find the Stone at the entrance of the Grand Library in Elden Ring.

Limgrave (Throne Room)

1) This Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone can be obtained as a reward for completing Nepheli Loux’s questline in Godrick’s Throne Room.

Where to buy Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone in Elden Ring

There are two merchants in Elden Ring that will sell you more Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones.

Gatekeeper Gostoc

1) The first one is Gatekeeper Gostoc who you can find in the Throne Room of Stormveil Castle in Elden Ring. Once you have completed his quests, you can purchase one Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone from him for a whopping 20,000 Runes.

Gurranq, Beast Clergyman

Gurranq, Beast Clergyman has the final Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone of Elden Ring. However, he is not your typical merchant. There are two ways to get the Stone off of him.

You can either trade your 9th Deathroot for his Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone or choose to kill him. The latter requires you to kill Maliketh first as a prerequisite. Killing Gurranq will also end his questline, so make sure to buy the Stone from him instead.

Smithing Stones in Shadow of the Erdtree

The Land of Shadow is tuned for the late game, so the expansion is generous with tier 3 and above and stingy with the low tiers. No new Smithing-Stone Bell Bearings were added, so the Twin Maiden Husks remain your shop, but the four Ruined Forges scattered across the Land of Shadow each hide a stack of stones and, in most cases, an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone in the furnace at the end.

Enemy drops are also far better than in the Lands Between. Golem Smiths, Black Knights, Fire Knights, Messmer Soldiers and Gravebirds all drop mid and high tier stones at rates between 5 and 10 percent, so any fort or ruin full of them doubles as a farm.

Smithing Stone 3 to 5 in the Land of Shadow

• Smithing Stone 3: Belurat, Tower Settlement in the Ulcerated Tree Spirit arena, Belurat Gaol near a Living Jar after the jar labyrinth, several inside the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, one by the Site of Grace in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, and a full 12 inside the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past.
• Smithing Stone 4: seven in the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, five in Taylew’s Ruined Forge, four in the Shadow Keep, two on a corpse near the bottom of the Dragon’s Pit, and one on a corpse before the archway on the western side of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.
• Smithing Stone 5: seven in the torture room of the Fort of Reprimand, four on the back wall corpse in the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, three in the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past, two in the Shadow Keep, two in the Lesser Magma Wyrm’s lair in the Dragon’s Pit, and more in Taylew’s Ruined Forge.

Smithing Stone 6 to 8 in the Land of Shadow

• Smithing Stone 6: nine in the Fort of Reprimand, eight of them in a single chest, six in the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past, three in Taylew’s Ruined Forge, and singles in the Belurat Gaol jar labyrinth, the Shadow Keep and the Stone Coffin Fissure.
• Smithing Stone 7: eight in the chest behind Black Knight Garrew at Fog Rift Fort, five across the Shadow Keep, and one reached over a collapsed column after the first ladder in the Ruined Forge Lava Intake.
• Smithing Stone 8: four in a chest up the tower ladder near the Lesser Omenkiller in the Fort of Reprimand, four in Enir-Ilim (two from a broken ledge and two on a roof corpse above the Spiral Rise Site of Grace), three behind the pyres near the Main Gate Plaza of the Shadow Keep, two behind Salza, Sage of the Fire Knights in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, and one in Taylew’s Ruined Forge.

Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones in the Land of Shadow

The expansion adds eight Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, which is nearly as many as the base game, so a second and third weapon can reach +25 without starting New Game Plus.

• Gravesite Plain: one from the furnace at the end of the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, one dropped by the Magma Wyrm at the bottom of the Dragon’s Pit, and one in the chest on top of the Suppressing Pillar.

Though they are hard to find in the huge world of Elden Ring, another issue that many players face is that upgrading a weapon from the start forces them to stick to that weapon and moving to a new weapon that they like can be a problem.

So, Elden Ring fixed this problem by making it so that you can buy as many smithing stones as you like, but this is not an option from the start.

To get this option to buy unlimited Smithing Stones in Elden Ring, you need Bell Bearing that will unlock smithing stones at the Twin Maiden Husks merchant at the Roundtable Hold.

Smithing Stone Bell Bearing Locations

Here are the bells that will unlock Smithing Stones for players in Elden Ring.

Smithing Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 1

The first bell bearing can be found in a mine in Liurnia. You need to head north from South Raya Lucaria Gate along the cliff on the east of the lake.

You will find a tunnel here, the Raya Lucaria Crystal Mine. Complete this mine and defeat the boss, Crystalian, at the end. Defeating this boss will give you Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 1, which unlocks Smithing Stone 1 and 2 for purchase.

Just a small tip, since you will be heading into a lot of mines for these bells, use magic weapons or sorceries to kill the miners.

Simple weapons deal next to no damage and make these mines unbearable. Any Magic Infused weapon or any weapon that deals some magic damage will do the job just fine.

Smithing Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2

The second bell bearing is found in a mine in Altus Plateau. You need to go to the Sealed Tunnel to get this bell bearing.

From the Outer Wall Phantom Tree grace that you get after defeating the two Tree Sentinels, head east to the small lake. Head down using the spirit stream or the rock formation, then head south of the lake.

Here, the entrance of the sealed tunnel can be found. The tunnel has many illusory walls, so whenever you can’t find the path to progress, start smacking the walls in the corners of the room to find them.

After the first illusory wall, next to the fire, turn right and open the chest to get the second bell bearing.

Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell bearing 2 allows you to purchase Smithing Stones 3 and 4 from the merchant.

Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3

The third bell is in the end game area. You need to progress to Zamor Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Even if you get there fast by bypassing most of the game, you need to have defeated the Draconite Tree Sentinel and obtained two great runes before you can actually purchase the stones.

Inside the Zamor Ruins, a simple underground room can be found which contains the bell bearing in a chest.
