Elden Ring Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel Walkthrough: Crystalian Boss

The Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel is the mine of northeast Liurnia of the Lakes, a wide web of passages worked by Glintstone Miners and closed off by a single Crystalian. It is the earliest of the four Crystalian fights, rated for level 30 on our boss page, and the prize at the end is the Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing 1, the item that turns the Twin Maiden Husks into an endless supply of low-tier upgrade stones. Between the door and the boss there are eight Smithing Stone 3, chests of Somber Smithing Stone 2, the Crystal Knife, the Shatter Earth sorcery and miners who can drop the Digger's Staff.

Where the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel is

The Smithing Stones guide gives the simplest directions: from the Liurnia of the Lakes Site of Grace, ride north along the coast and watch the cliff face for an indentation. Go into it and the entrance is right there. The progression route reaches it a little later, after the Erdtree Avatar at the Minor Erdtree and the Bell Mausoleum below the cliff, and the Walking Mausoleum page uses the tunnel mouth as a landmark: the gravestones along the cliffs west of it are where the Bellum Highway mausoleum can be boarded from a spirit spring.

Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel walkthrough

Take the elevator down. Turn right at the bottom for a chest holding a Somber Smithing Stone 2, close to the Martyr Effigy that marks the road to the Crystalian. Push on to the giant statue that stands beside the tunnel's Site of Grace; a second chest behind the statue has another Somber Smithing Stone 2, and the Somber Smithing Stones guide says the tunnel holds several of them in all. The Smithing Stones guide has one instruction for the rest of the mine: kill everything you meet, because the loot is spread across the enemies as well as the floor. A few of the miners near the entrance drop Smithing Stone 2, the Glintstone Miners drop Smithing Stone 3, and the early max-level weapon guide counts eight Smithing Stone 3 to pick up inside.

Two pieces of gear hide off the main road. The Crystal Knife is on the third level down, in a storage area guarded by marionettes; the daggers guide has you clear them and take it. Shatter Earth, the sorcery that sends a magic shockwave through the ground, lies on a corpse in the tunnel, according to the sorceries guide. The miners themselves have a chance to drop the Digger's Staff, a Glintstone staff that boosts stone digger sorceries and strikes rather than thrusts, and its page suggests farming them here until one falls. Cracked Crystal, the crafting material, is another pickup the crafting guide lists for this tunnel.

Ringblade Crystalian boss

Only one Crystalian waits behind the fog here, the Ringblade kind, and our boss page calls it a fight that does not deal much damage. It barely walks, bouncing about the arena and throwing its rings, with big deliberate swings up close and a small ring thrown when you keep your distance. The catch is the shell. Crystalians are immune to bleed and resist slash and thrust, so a strike weapon is the right tool, and if a one-handed weapon bounces off, two-hand it. Once the crystal around its body cracks it takes damage like anything else and every hit staggers it. The cheese on the boss page is a Heavy Greatsword with Starlight Shards: summon the Spirit Jellyfish as you enter, let it hold the boss's attention, and swing between dodges until it dies.

The Crystalian drops 3,000 Runes and the Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing 1. Give it to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold and they stock Smithing Stone 1 at 200 Runes and Smithing Stone 2 at 400 Runes, in unlimited amounts, which frees you from the Limgrave Tunnels and the merchants who each sell three. The bearing series continues with the second in the Sealed Tunnel outside Leyndell and the third in the Zamor Ruins.

Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel FAQ

Is the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel worth doing early?

Yes. The boss page puts it at level 30, the lowest of the four Crystalian locations, and the bell bearing it guards makes Smithing Stone 1 and 2 purchasable for the rest of the game. The dungeons guide files it under the tunnels and mines whose whole purpose is stones and the bearings that make them buyable.

Is this the same as the Sellia Crystal Tunnel?

No. The Sellia Crystal Tunnel is in Caelid, ends at the Fallingstar Beast and pays the Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing 1; the trap chest in the Dragon-Burnt Ruins sends you there. The Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel is in Liurnia, ends at a Crystalian and pays the regular Smithing-Stone bearing. The Digger's Staff can drop in both.
