How To Find And Defeat Promised Consort Radahn In Elden Ring

Become a god by defeating the Promised Consort Radahn in Elden Ring.

Promised Consort Radahn is the final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree in Elden Ring. Promised to Miquella as his consort in the golden days, Radahn must return from death to fulfil the prophecy and guide Miquella to godhood.

Shadow of the Erdtree offers a plethora of new enemies and bosses, defeating some of which is a Herculean Task. However, nothing and no one comes closer to the monster known as the Promised Consort Radahn. Not only is he the most difficult boss designed by FromSoftware to date, but he is also the most difficult video game boss of the last decade.

In this guide, we will tell you how to reach Promised Consort Radahn and how you can take him down with our guide. We have also outlined a method to cheese this boss if all other methods fail. So, let’s get started with the battle of a lifetime.

Promised Consort Radahn Location

Promised Consort Radahn is the final boss of Enir-Ilim in Elden Ring, the final dungeon of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This boss is not optional, as you must defeat it to conclude the DLC.

To reach Enir-Ilim, you must first defeat Messmer the Impaler to receive his kindling. Then travel to the Church of the Bud to kill Romina, Saint of the Bud.

Go to the back of the church to find the sealing tree. Burn it with the help of Messmer’s Flame, and you will be transported to Enir-Ilim. The path to the Promised Consort Radahn is straightforward from there.

Promised Consort Radahn Stats and Weaknesses

Promised Consort Radahn has 46,134 HP, and he is weak to Scarlet Rot and Frostbite. He is also susceptible to Holy damage, but only in the first phase.

Other than that, Radahn is strong against all types of attacks and is immune to Sleep and Madness. He has 125 Defense and 120 stance. You can parry his attacks, but you must parry him three times to break his stance for a critical hit.

He has the highest stats of any boss in Elden Ring or any FromSoftware game, making him almost impossible to defeat at first glance.

How to Prepare for Promised Consort Radahn

As the fight with the Promised Consort Radahn is the final fight in Elden Ring, the developers have made sure to throw everything at you and test your patience.

For this fight, we recommend that you be at least level 220 with 15 Scadutree Blessings level. Don’t confuse Blessing level with the number of Scadutree Fragments.

Invest in Vigor and Endurance stats, as you will be needing both a lot. Make sure that you have at least 60 Vigor with 40 Endurance. Use a fully upgraded Keen Backhand Blade +25 for this fight alongside the Fingerprint Shield.

Invest in Dexterity stat to make your weapon more powerful and versatile. We have a detailed build for the Backhand Blade that can help you immensely with this fight.

If you are looking to mix things up a bit, get the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman in addition to Golden Braid. These talismans will help you absorb most of the physical and holy damage.

Great Jar’s Arsenal is also a good choice to ease the equip load. Apply Frost to your weapon to inflict a status ailment upon the Promised Consort Radahn.

Mix Opaline Hardtear and Crimson Bubbletear in the Flask of the Wondrous Physick to further enhance your defenses. Also, use a fully upgraded Erdtree Seal to cast the following incantations before the fight.

You can also summon Sir Ansbach and Thiollier for this fight if you are following their quests. However, this will make Radahn even scarier to deal with. The best summon for this fight is Mimic Tear, as it can spam grease on its weapons throughout the fight.

Use any gear that allows you to absorb as much physical and holy damage as possible, while still allowing you to fast roll. If everything else fails, use a fully upgraded Spear of the Impaler with Jellyfish Shield to cheese Promised Consort Radahn (more on that later).

FYI

This is an extremely difficult fight and took me over a week with multiple builds. You can visit Renalla at the Academy of Raya Lucaria and use Larval Tears to change your build. Try different ones until you find one that suits you the best.

Phase 1 – The Young Lion

During the first phase of the fight, Radahn will fight alone in his young form. This is actually the soul of Radahn placed inside Mohg’s body by Miquella, as evident by some attacks and his arms.

Radahn mostly uses physical attacks during this phase in addition to some gravity magic and bloodflame. He uses twin swords that he can swing at massive speeds and drain all of your stamina with a few hits.

FYI

Despite carrying a shield, we recommend that you still focus mainly on dodging the attacks.

The fight always begins with Radahn spinning in the air and coming crashing down at the player’s location. This attack can easily be dodged by moving to the left, and you can inflict massive punishment afterwards.

From there, all of his attacks are random and extremely powerful. One of his attacks is where Radahn drags his swords on the floor and jumps into the air. He will then throw gravity rocks at you.

Dodge forward and then run to the right once he starts throwing rocks at you. Don’t attempt to dodge or block this attack as it will kill you.

Another attack is when Radahn is near the players. He jumps and rolls in the air and comes down, slamming both his swords. This attack can easily be dodged, and you can punish him afterwards.

However, there is a small caveat. He sometimes does a second jump roll, which allows him to damage the players if they start attacking after the first.

The worst attack is when Radahn does a massive hit combo with a surreal dance. These attacks can’t be blocked as they will leave your stance broken after the third one. Dodge back and learn the pattern, as most of them are delayed attacks.

This combo covers the whole arena, so there is no running away from it. However, it allows you to deal massive amount of punishment afterwards.

Radahn also does a sword cross attack that can be avoided by dodging forward. You can land a couple of hits after it.

Radahn also does a quick sidestep followed by a sword swipe. It is followed by a trail of bloodflame (Mohg’s attack), leaving a trail of explosions. Make sure that you move behind Radahn to avoid this attack.

TIP

Don’t summon Mimic Tear during the first phase, as it will make the fight much more difficult.

Another devastating attack by Radahn during this phase is a dual-blade uppercut. If this attack connects, Radahn follows it up with a dual slam attack. This attack can easily kill you even if you have 60 Vigor.

The only way to dodge this attack is by rolling sideways. Never roll backwards, as this will make sure that Radahn hits you with the uppercut.

The most painful attack of the first phase is Gravity Pull. Radahn will raise his swords and pull you towards him. If you fail to dodge, he will summon spikes from the ground, which deal massive damage to the players.

The only way to avoid this attack is by dodging. As soon as the wave of gravity appears, dodge to any side. This is a frame-perfect dodge, and failing it can have disastrous effects.

These are all his attacks during the first phase. Luckily, all of these attacks can either be dodged or blocked. It is perfectly possible to survive this phase without taking a single hit. Sadly, this phase only lasts for a small duration.

As soon as Radahn’s Health goes down to 65%, a cutscene will trigger, marking the beginning of the second phase.

Phase 2 – A War with the God

Miquella will appear from the door to heaven and start controlling Radahn as his puppet. This will grant the Promised Consort Radahn the holy powers.

TIP

Make sure that you have the Great Rune of Miquella equipped to avoid sudden death.

The second phase always starts with Radahn stretching his arms and floating in the air. A massive area around him will start glowing, followed by a massive explosion. The only way to avoid this attack is by running as far away as possible.

Summon your Mimic Tear at this point. Radahn’s moveset changes drastically in this phase. He will do a Dash attack where he moves across the arena and hits the player multiple times with Holy Attack.

Run sideways and turn 180 degrees to avoid this attack. Radahn will also do the Meteor attack, where he will go airborne and throw meteors at you. However, this time it will be followed by him attacking you multiple times from his position.

He will send his apparition towards you multiple times with slam attacks. This attack can instantly kill the players, even if they block. Run backwards for the first three attacks and dodge forward for the next two.

Radahn will do a 6 or 5-hit combo during this phase with the same surreal dance. However, he will summon pillars of Holy Light every second attack with an AoE holy attack with the last hit. This combo is extremely deadly, and if you fail to dodge at least three hits, you will be dead on the spot.

Most of the hits can be dodged by rolling forward. However, for the last attack, wait for the signs to appear on the ground and then roll sideways towards the back of Promised Consort Radahn.

The uppercut slam attack now also summons Holy Light, which deals additional damage. Don’t try to block these attacks. You will end up losing more health than imagined.

Another attack by Radahn during the second phase is known as Promised Consort. During this attack, Radahn raises both its words and they shine with holy light. He does three delayed attacks after it followed by a massive explosion.

Radahn also does a grab attack where he lunges forward and grabs you. This attack doesn’t deal any damage, but Miquella puts a debuff on you in the form of a crown. If Radahn catches you again, Miquella will steal your heart, resulting in instant death.

You can avoid the grab attack by dodging sideways. However, if you get caught, use Miquella’s Great Rune to remove the debuff. It will save you from instant death in case you get caught again.

As soon as Radahn’s health drops to 25%, he does a massive explosion attack. He goes out into the stratosphere and comes crashing down with an explosion that covers more than half of the arena. This attack also kills you instantly.

The only way to avoid this attack is by running in the opposite direction and as far away as possible. Wait for a few seconds as this attack has shockwaves afterwards.

Radahn also throws discs of holy light towards you from afar. This attack is extremely fast and can deal massive damage on impact. You must dodge sideways in extremely fast fashion.

These are all the attacks during phase 2, and most of these attacks can kill you instantly. Once you learn all of his attacks, you can take him down by chipping away at his health.

Promised Consort Radahn Cheese in Elden Ring

If you are still having any difficulty in defeating the Promised Consort Radahn, you can always try the cheese method.

Equip a greatshield, preferably the Jellyfish Shield, and apply magic to it to absorb as much Holy Damage as possible. Take out Spear of the Impaler and start poking at Radahn while blocking.

This is extremely important that you poke Radahn with a spear while he is attacking, and your shield must be up. This way, you won’t take any damage but will lose stamina at an alarming rate.

For this reason, invest a lot in Endurance stat and equip Two Headed Green Turtle Talisman to recover your stamina fast. This is the best method but it still won’t guarantee the win. Keep trying this method and soon you will be able to take down the Promised Consort Radahn.

Promised Consort Drops and Rewards

Upon defeat, the Promised Consort Radahn drops 575,000 Runes and the Remembrance of a God and a Lord. You can exchange this remembrance with Enia at the Roundtable Hold to either get the Greatsword of Radahn (Light), the Greatsword of Radahn (Lord), or the Light of Miquella.

However, the greatest reward for defeating Radahn is the seal of badass approval from us for overcoming the most difficult boss in the history of gaming.
