How To Beat Midra, Lord Of Frenzied Flame In Elden Ring

Put Midra out of his misery with the help of our guide in Elden Ring.

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, is an optional boss in Elden Ring exclusive to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Hidden inside his manor beyond the Abyssal Woods, Midra tried to endure the hardships that were bestowed upon the Lord of Frenzy. Being frail, he failed the task and succumbed to madness. It is the divine duty of the tarnished to lay this boss to rest.

In this guide, we will tell you how to find Midra in Elden Ring and how you can defeat him easily by using our build specifically tailored for this boss.

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame Location

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, is the final boss of Midra’s Manse in Elden Ring. Midra’s Manse is a legacy dungeon found at the end of the Abyssal Woods area.

To reach Abyssal Woods, start from the Golden Hippopotamus site of grace in the Shadow Keep. Go up to the roof with the burning ships and then use the ladder to the left to reach the hidden area behind a waterfall.

Follow this path and unlock an illusory wall that will lead you to a coffin. Use the coffin to reach the Ruins of Unte. Follow the path to reach the Recluse’s River Downstream site of grace.

Drop down the ledge to enter the Darklight Catacombs. Traverse the catacombs and defeat Jori, the Elder, to reach Abyssal Woods.

Go through the area while avoiding the Undying Untouchables to reach Midra’s Manse in the western corner. This legacy dungeon is home to Midra, and you can find him at the very end.

FYI

You must first kill Midra in his human form to start the actual fight.

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame Stats and Weaknesses

Midra has 47,171 HP in Elden Ring with 124 Defense and 80 Stance. You can parry his attacks to land a critical hit, but you will need to do 3 parries.

Midra is weak to Slash attacks and Holy damage. However, he is immune to Sleep and Madness. You can also inflict Blood Loss upon this boss.

Midra is strong against Fire, Poison, and Scarlet Rot ailments. You can deal decent damage with Lightning Attacks in addition to Standard and Pierce.

Best Build for Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame

The best way to handle Midra in Elden Ring is by using a melee weapon that can induce Bleeding. Rivers of Blood and Uchigtana are the obvious choices here.

Invest in Dexterity and Arcane stats a lot. Use Lord of Blood’s Exultation and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia alongside the Shard of Alexander as talismans.

Wear the White Mask of Varre to increase your attack power in case of bleeding. Dexterity-Knot Crystal Tear, and Godrick’s Great Rune to further enhance your attributes.

You will get enough time to cast both Golden Vow and Flame, Grant me Strength when Midra transforms from human into a Frenzied Lord.

As this is a very difficult fight, make sure that you are at least level 15 for Scadutree Blessing. If you are not satisfied with this build, you can visit Rennala at the Academy of Raya Lucaria to change your attributes with the help of Larval Tears.

Phase 1 – An Angry Lord

Once you defeat the human form of Midra, he will immediately transform into Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. He will summon a yellow flame on its head and start using the thorned sword.

Midra always starts the first phase by blasting waves of madness energy from his head. This attack also has two turns, and you can avoid both waves by dodging forward.

You will get enough time to land a couple of hits once Midra is done using the attack. Midra also uses a 3-hit combo where he swings his massive sword once overhead, then from right to left, and then an uppercut.

This attack can be dodged by rolling backwards once, then rolling to the right and once again rolling towards the back of the boss. As Midra has no 360-degree attack to hit you when you are behind, this is your best opportunity to deal as much damage as possible.

Another attack involves Midra charging his sword and then sweeping it from right to left, followed by a Thrust attack. Dodge to the right and then into Midra to avoid both attacks.

Midra also uses the nail in its left hand to hit you twice. This attack is simple, yet fast. If you decide to use a parrying shield, you can easily get the timing of this attack and parry it.

One of the fast attacks involves Midra doing two really fast slash attacks, followed by a rush attack that leaves a trail of madness behind.

Dodge to the sides for sweep attacks and then dodge into Midra to create iframes. This will allow you to avoid the whole attack easily. However, this attack won’t leave any chance for you to attack the boss.

Midra also does a double spinning attack in the first phase. During this attack, Midra spins from right to left twice and then does the same attack again after a short while. This attack has zero tracking, and you can simply dodge the first one and move away to avoid the next attack.

One of the attacks involves Midra using four sweep attacks consecutively. It can be dodged by dodging in any direction four times.

Midra also uses a sweep attack followed by a burst of madness from his attack. This attack is then followed by another sweep. The timing for this attack is very slow, and you must time your rolls precisely.

Phase 2 – Lord of Explosive Frenzy

As Midra’s health reaches 70% in Elden Ring, he jumps into the air and comes crashing down, causing a massive explosion.

As soon as you see him rising, run to the other side. The lingering flames of frenzy after the explosion don’t do any damage. Go through them to land a couple of hits on Midra.

During the second phase, Midra also uses a grab attack. He jumps into the air and slams his sword into the ground. This is followed by nails exploding from the ground around him. If this attack connects, it can kill the players instantly.

Dodge to the side and then dodge again towards Midra’s back as soon as you see nails coming out from the ground.

Midra also uses a flaming sword sweep attack from right to left and then left to right. The second attack is delayed and a bit difficult to dodge.

However, it leaves room to land multiple hits before and after the attack. The final attack by Midra is also his longest one.

He does a sweep from right to left, then a sweep from left to right, followed by two fast sweeps, and then an overhead sweep with a delay. All of these attacks can be dodged by rolling at the correct time.

Once you understand all of Midra’s attacks in Elden Ring, the fight becomes a walk in the park. You can easily land hits on him while avoiding his attacks.

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame Rewards and Drops

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, drops 410,000 Runes in addition to the Remembrance of the Lord of the Frenzied Flame.

You can exchange his remembrance with Enia at the Roundtable Hold to either get the Greatsword of Damnation (weapon) or Midra’s Flame of Frenzy (incantation).

You can also consume the remembrance to get 40,000 Runes, which is ill-advised.
