Elden Ring Tombsward Cave Walkthrough: Poison Marsh and Cookbook 8

The Tombsward Cave is a poison-soaked minor dungeon on the western side of the Weeping Peninsula, northwest of Castle Morne and south of the Fourth Church of Marika. Its floor is marsh, its enemies are mushrooms and giant rats, and its boss is a Giant Miranda Sprout that drops the Viridian Amber Medallion, the talisman that raises maximum stamina. It is not to be confused with the Tombsward Catacombs nearby, which have a Cemetery Shade and Lhutel the Headless.

Where the Tombsward Cave is

The Weeping Peninsula is the southernmost part of Limgrave, entered over the Bridge of Sacrifice. The cave lies in its western half, and two of our pages use its entrance as a landmark: the Sacred Tears guide sends you west from the cave mouth to the Fourth Church of Marika, where a Sacred Tear waits at the base of Marika's statue, and names the Weeping Evergaol as the church's nearest neighbour to the east.

Tombsward Cave walkthrough

Bring poison resistance, or the Flame, Cleanse Me incantation, before you go in; the medallion page calls it the one preparation the cave demands. The marsh poisons you as you wade, the mushroom enemies add to it, and the rats are the size of dogs. The rats are also the cave's rune farm: the Golden Runes guide says they drop several Golden Rune 2 and Golden Rune 3 between them. Two crafting materials grow here as well. The crafting guide lists the cave among the dark caves with Cave Moss and among the Poisonbloom spots, alongside the Miranda Sprouts themselves.

At a dead end, a corpse carries Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook 8. The cookbook guide lists its recipes as Poison Grease and Drawstring Poison Grease, which pairs neatly with the Poisonbloom you pick up on the way; Cookbook 9 is behind the imp seal in the catacombs next door.

Giant Miranda Sprout

The end of the cave is a large Miranda Sprout surrounded by many small ones. It attacks with magic beams and poison clouds, but its health pool is small, so it falls quickly once you commit. The reward is the Viridian Amber Medallion. Its +1 comes from the Margit who ambushes you south of the Outer Wall Battleground grace outside Leyndell, its +2 sits in a chest reached over the house roofs of Miquella's Haligtree, and its +3 is in the Darklight Catacombs in Shadow of the Erdtree; the medallion page routes all three, and the talismans guide lists the base version here.

Tombsward Cave FAQ

Is the Tombsward Cave worth doing?

For the medallion, yes: a stamina talisman that early changes how many swings and rolls you get, and the boss is one of the easiest in the dungeons guide. Just do not enter it without something to clear poison.
