Items

Four of our Skyward Sword pages are lists of things Link picks up, and each of them answers a different question about the pile. The items locations and upgrades page gives a location line for 35 of its 68 entries and a Scrap Shop recipe for another dozen, the Gossip Stones page places its eight stones by region and island, the Heart Pieces page sorts all 24 by what each one asks for, and the Gratitude Crystals page splits its 80 between twelve quests and fifteen night-time pickups. So this guide walks the map instead of the inventory screen: what waits in the sky, then what each of the three provinces hands over, then the handful of things that have no map location at all because a Flame or a trial gives them. The recipes come after, written material-first so you can read them off a treasure count.

Skyloft and the Sky

Skyloft hands over the first four things for free. The Practice Sword comes from the knight instructor in the Sparring Hall once your Loftwing goes missing, the Goddess Sword waits on its pedestal inside the Goddess Statue after Zelda is pulled down to the surface, the Sailcloth is Zelda's gift for winning the Wing Ceremony race, and Fledge gives the Adventure Pouch along with the Hero's Tunic. Everything else in the sky is bought, and the seller decides the currency. The Bazaar takes rupees: Wooden Shield 50, Iron Shield 100 once Skyview Temple is cleared, and the Sacred Shield after the first fight with the Imprisoned. Beedle's flying shop takes rupees too, at higher prices: Bug Net 50, Life Medal 800, Bug Medal 1,000, Adventure Pouch Expansion 300, and the Extra Wallet. Batreaux's House takes Gratitude Crystals, which is where the wallet ladder lives.

Medium Wallet5005 crystals givenBatreaux
Big Wallet1,00030 crystals givenBatreaux
Giant Wallet5,00050 crystals givenBatreaux

Those four figures are not prices, they are points on a tally Batreaux keeps, which matters because the game holds 80 Gratitude Crystals in total: he counts what he has been given and produces the next reward as that count goes past each point, so the Tycoon Wallet at 80 means every crystal in Skyward Sword, and our Gratitude Crystals page has the full ladder. The Cursed Medal arrives at the same mark as the Big Wallet; it raises the odds of treasure and rupees in the field at the price of locking your Adventure Pouch, potions included. The Heart Medal and Rupee Medal come from unnamed sky islands, and the Treasure Medal sits in a Goddess Cube chest on the Northeast Island; those three have no vendor. The Potion Shop stocks Air, Stamina, Revitalizing, Heart and Guardian Potions; the shops page has the rupee prices and the enemies and shops guide pairs each one with the fight it is for. A Fairy in a bottle counts as a potion here: it revives Link and restores six hearts. Four of the eight Gossip Stones are up here as well: inside a cone on the island southwest of Skyloft, up the waterfall east of town by Clawshot, on a small island south of Bug Island, and in the thicket on Bamboo Island.

Faron

Faron gives Link his first ranged tool and his first dungeon item. Bucha, the Kikwi elder, hands over the Slingshot and the Seed Satchel together once the missing Kikwi are found; the Beetle is the reward for the Stalfos inside the egg-shaped chamber at the heart of Skyview Temple; the Whip is the Ancient Cistern's dungeon item; and the Water Dragon's Scale, which lets Link swim underwater, comes at the end of the forest's Silent Realm trial. Two Gossip Stones and three of the four Goddess Walls are in this province: a stone and a wall share the path outside the Sealed Grounds shrine, a second stone stands beside the Ancient Cistern entrance at Lake Floria, and the other two walls are down the entrance stairs of Skyview Temple and in the Cistern's western whirlpool room.

Eldin

Eldin is the province of digging and fire. Ledd gives the Bomb Bag, with Bombs in it, for help against the monsters in the Earth Temple; a Mogma hands over the Digging Mitts once the pieces of the Earth Temple key are dug up; the Fireshield Earrings, which let Link stand the heat, are the volcano's Silent Realm reward; and the Mogma Mitts, the Digging Mitts' only upgrade, are a Fire Sanctuary dungeon item rather than a Scrap Shop job. The Eldin Gossip Stone is on a platform west of the Earth Temple entrance. No Goddess Wall on our page is in Eldin.

Lanayru

Lanayru holds more of the list than either other province. The Gust Bellows are the Lanayru Mining Facility's dungeon item, the Bow and the Quiver come together aboard the Sandship, the Clawshots wait at the end of Nayru's Silent Realm, and one of the desert's Ancient Robots turns the Beetle into the Hook Beetle. Zelda gives the Goddess's Harp in the Temple of Time. The Hylian Shield, the one shield the page calls indestructible, is at Lanayru Gorge and is earned by winning eight straight fights in the Thunder Dragon's challenge. The last Gossip Stone is in the Lanayru Caves, before the exit to the Gorge, and the last Goddess Wall is on the Sandship: follow the Clawshot targets from the far mast after coming down from the crow's nest, and a chest with a Heart Piece sits beside it.

No Map Location: The Sword and the Bow

Three entries never get a place because a Flame gives them. Farore's Flame turns the Goddess Sword into the Goddess Longsword with more reach and power, Nayru's Flame makes the Goddess White Sword and widens dowsing, and Din's Flame makes the Master Sword, which repels evil. The Bow climbs the same way without a recipe on our page: Iron Bow, then Sacred Bow at the Scrap Shop. The Big Bug Net is the third upgrade the page lists with no recipe.

What the Scrap Shop Charges

The Scrap Shop sits in the Bazaar and takes treasures plus a rupee fee; the potion infusions take insects instead. Our items page gives a full recipe for twelve upgrades. Fourteen treasure types appear across the nine equipment recipes. Monster Claw and Amber Relic are each in four of them, Ornamental Skull, Dusk Relic and Blue Bird Feather in three, and the other nine in one or two. The three shield lines each climb twice, and the third rung is where the fire and electricity resistance comes from: the Braced Shield blocks fire and electric attacks, while the Fortified Shield is the strongest iron shield and still does badly against electricity.

The potion side is smaller on the items page and larger on the shops page. The items page prices three infusions: Stamina Potion +1 takes one Faron Grasshopper, two Gerudo Dragonflies, two Sky Stag Beetles and three Volcanic Ladybugs plus 20 rupees; Heart Potion +1 takes one Volcanic Ladybug, three Blessed Butterflies and one Woodland Rhino Beetle plus 20 rupees; Heart Potion +2 takes one Eldin Roller, one Sand Cicada, three Deku Hornets and three Blessed Butterflies plus 30 rupees. The shops page repeats the first two, agreeing on every count, and adds recipes for the Guardian, Revitalizing, Revitalizing ++ and Air infusions that the items page names without pricing, so every infusion has a recipe once the two pages are read together. What the infusions do is on the items page: the Heart Potion goes from eight hearts to a full heal and then to two servings, the Revitalizing Potion from four hearts and a shield repair to eight hearts and then two servings, the Stamina and Air infusions run for three minutes, and the Guardian infusion blocks all damage while it lasts. Insects are caught with the Bug Net, so the net and the 1,000-rupee Bug Medal that marks bugs on the map are the purchases that pay for this table.

Capacity Upgrades That Skip the Recipe

Ammunition holders grow by a fixed step each time. The Extra Quiver adds five arrows per upgrade, the Extra Bomb Bag five bombs, and the Extra Seed Satchel ten Deku Seeds, the last of those sold by both the Scrap Shop and Beedle for 100 rupees. The Adventure Pouch Expansion adds one gear slot for 300 rupees at Beedle's. None of these carries a treasure list on our page, so read them as rupee purchases and keep the treasures for the shields and the Beetle. The Skyward Sword guide puts this table next to the enemies that make each rung worth buying.
