Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana Location in Elden Ring

Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana can only be obtained as a drop after defeating the Ancient Dragon Man boss inside the Dragon Pit.

To find the Dragon Pit, start from the Castle Front site of grace near Castle Ensis. Go south and follow the path down until you reach Dragon’s Pit in the southeast region.

This is a small dungeon with a lot of massive drops. Keep going forward until you come across a massive drop. Jump down into the darkness, as it won’t kill you. Turn back and you will come across a fog gate. Go through it to meet the boss.

Ancient Dragon Man is a small, nimble boss who uses Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana as his main weapon. This boss has a generic moveset with some slashes and dodges. Summon your Mimic Tear to make this fight easier.
Once down to 50%, he will start using the weapon skill. Make sure that you use jump and slam attack as it works wonder against all NPC bosses.
Once defeated, the Ancient Dragon Man drops 130,000 Runes and the Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana in Elden Ring.
Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana Stats and Requirements
Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana is a Dexterity-based weapon that requires 15 Strength and 20 Dexterity to wield. It has D scaling with both stats.

The unique weapon skill of this great katana is Dragonwound Slash, which costs 18 FP. You can also charge this attack to send a wave of energy towards your enemy. This weapon also causes passive blood loss build-up (55).
You can’t infuse this weapon with any Ash of War or apply any magic or grease to it either. The Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana can be upgraded up to +10 with the help of Somber Smithing Stones.
At its base level, it deals 152 Physical attacks, which can be increased to 372 at its highest level. This weapon does 30% more damage against dragons and 15% more damage against ancient dragons.
Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana Best Build in Elden Ring
For this build, we will be using a fully upgraded Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana as a two-handed weapon. As this is an endgame build with character level over 200, distribute your attribute points as follows.
- Vigor: 50
- Endurance: 35
- Strength: 50
- Dexterity: 50
- Faith: 25
Equip the following talisman to make this build even more powerful.
- Godfrey Icon. Increases the attack power of charged attacks and skills by 15%.
- Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman. Increases the defense against physical attacks.
