This Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Max Health Guide will help players understand the new system and the best way to increase their health and stamina pool to survive against tougher enemies.
In The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Hearts act a bit different from the system in previous games of the franchise. While they still increase Link’s health and make sure he can withstand more damage before having to refill his health bar, the way to increasing the health bar works differently this time.

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Max Health
Instead of picking up Pieces of Heart that combine to make a full Heart Container, players will have to find Spirit Orbs in Breath of the Wild.
The Pieces of Heart system has been completely abandoned and not only do players now need to find the orbs to increase their health but also visit statues to complete the process.
Players need to gather four Spirit Orbs before they can add one extra heart to their health meter.
By the time they complete the tutorial section of the game, they will have already acquired 4 orbs and will get a quest to travel to a shrine and pray there. Upon praying, Link will have the option to either increase health or stamina, which is used to jump higher and glide.
Spirit Orbs can be acquired by completing the numerous Shrines scattered across Hyrule. Climbing atop high places like Sheikah Towers will let players see more of their surroundings.
A glowing red light will mark the shrines, which the players still haven’t cleared, and they can be visited to pick up more Spirit Orbs.
Once players have at least four spirit orbs, they can go to any of the goddess Hylia statues and pray there. The statues are in main towns, Temple of Time, Hateno Village, Goron City, Rito Village and multiple other locations.
If you’re in desperate need of some redo-ing your health and stamina increase, then head over to the Horned Statue in Hateno Village. It is just west of the Myahm Agana Shrine on the the right of the village entrance.
Interact with the statue and you learn that you can sell a heart container or stamina upgrade for 100 rupees and then purchase the upgrade for 120 rupees, essentially allowing you to respec for 20 rupees.
Cooking up meals and elixirs will provide you with boosts to health and stamina for a bit.
