Mechanics
Our two pages on how Far Cry 4 actually works, crafting and the alternate endings, look unrelated until you notice they are both price lists in the same currency. Every bag tier names the animal that has to die for it and how many. Every ending names the person who has to die, or be let go. Kyrat sells nothing for money on either page; it sells for bodies, and the two tables below are the receipts.
What each bag costs, tier by tier
Ten pieces of kit can be crafted and all but the holster run four tiers. The first three tiers of every bag are paid in ordinary skins, one to five of them, and the fourth is paid with a single hide from one of Mr. Chiffon's Kyrat Fashion Week beasts, which is why our side quests guide treats those nine contracts as shopping rather than sport. The table gives the recipe and where our pages put the rare animal.
| Bag | Tiers 1 to 3 | Tier 4 hide | Where that beast lives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon Holster | 3 Tibetan Wolf, 3 Malayan Tapir, 3 Honey Badger | None; three tiers only | |
| Wallet | 2 Bharal, 3 Assam Macaque, 4 Asian Rhino | Mad Devil, the wolf | A cave by Keo Gold Storage, bow or auto cross |
| Loot Bag | 3 Sambar, 3 Pig, 4 Demon Fish | Ghost Bear | Keo Pradhana Mine, shotgun |
| Syringe Kit | 2 Wild Boar, 3 Tibetan Wolf, 4 Malayan Tapir | Sky Tiger | A cave at Barnali's Textiles, assault rifle |
| Bait Bag | 2 Dhole, 3 Yak, 5 Bear | Gulo, the honey badger | Pranijigat School, LMG |
| Ammo Bag | 2 Wild Boar, 3 Bharal, 4 Clouded Leopard | Shadow Leopard | The plateau at Keo Logging Camp, assault rifle |
| Throwables Bag | 2 Yak, 3 Dhole, 5 Bengal Tiger | Black Water Dragon | Beside the Kyra Tea Weigh Station, any explosive |
| Explosives Bag | 2 Asian Rhino, 3 Snow Leopard, 5 Sambar | Thick Skin, the elephant | Rajgad Gulag, fire |
| Heavy Ammo Bag | 2 Bengal Tiger, 3 Bear, 4 Snow Leopard | Not given; our page lists it as N/A | |
| Quiver | 1 Pig, 3 Clouded Leopard, 4 Honey Badger | Tenzin, the dhole | Kyra Tea Terraces, bow or auto cross |
Add the first three tiers up and the bill is 93 ordinary skins from 16 species, and our crafting page publishes that total species by species; we checked every line against the recipes and all sixteen agree. Bears and sambars are the dearest at eight each, then a block of five species at seven: Bengal tiger, clouded leopard, honey badger, snow leopard and Malayan tapir. Asian rhino and Tibetan wolf cost six, bharal, dhole and yak five, demon fish, pig and wild boar four, and the Assam macaque three. Only the loot bag states what a tier buys, 60 items at the first step and 90 at the second; every other bag simply says more.
Two cells in that table are blank, and they are worth reading together without joining them. The heavy ammo bag is the one four-tier bag whose final material our page does not know, and the Karkadann is the one Fashion Week beast whose hide appears in no recipe. Our pages never connect the two, so neither do we; if you want the rhino's hide to be the missing entry, that is a guess, not a fact from our pages. Where to farm the rest is spread across the hunting quests, whose supply contracts have you shooting boars, sambars, bharals and yaks anyway, and the rare animal contracts themselves.
What each ending costs, and who pays
Our endings page counts four, and the price of each is a person. One of them costs nobody at all and is the reason the phrase secret ending exists: sit still at Pagan Min's dining table when he excuses himself, wait about fourteen minutes after you gain control, and he returns to walk you to your sister's resting place, where placing your mother's ashes beside her finishes the game. The other three all begin the same way, with the Golden Path quests done, Amita or Sabal backed, the Royal Guard beaten and Pagan's statue toppled before you walk into his palace.
| Ending | What you do in the palace | Who dies | What you get told |
|---|---|---|---|
| The fifteen-minute ending | You never reach it; you waited at the table | Nobody | Nothing, but you bury the ashes as asked |
| Let Pagan go | Lower the gun | Nobody | He names you King of Kyrat and tells you about Lakshmana, your mother and your father, then leaves by helicopter |
| Kill Pagan inside | Shoot him | Pagan Min | The credits, and nothing about Lakshmana |
| Shoot the chopper | Lower the gun, then fire at the helicopter as it leaves | Pagan Min, after he has talked | Everything from the second row, then his death |
There is a fifth bill hidden in the setup line. Backing Amita or Sabal is written on our page as killing the other, and the post-credits scene is the receipt: kill Amita and Sabal runs the Golden Path from Jalendu Temple, where he has started initiatives to make people see their mistakes; kill Sabal and Amita runs it from Tirtha, recruiting and pressing families to come forward. The page describes what each does and does not say which is better, so nothing here does either.
One more thing depends on the palace choice. The last of Mohan Ghale's journals sits on a table in a room you only enter if Pagan lives, so a run that shoots him inside forfeits a collectible; our collectibles guide has the details. Pagan is also a fortress ruler, and his seat at Rajgad Gulag is graded alongside the other three in our towers and fortresses guide.
Questions our pages can answer
How long do you wait for the secret ending? About fourteen minutes from the moment you can move, without moving. Our page calls the result finishing the game in fifteen.
How many endings does Far Cry 4 have? Four on our page, plus two post-credits scenes decided by which Golden Path leader you killed.
Do the bags need a specific hunt? Only the fourth tier does, one named beast per bag; the first three tiers are common animals you will meet on the way to anything else. Where all of this sits in a full run of Kyrat is on our Far Cry 4 guide.
