Far Cry 4 Lost Letters Guide: All Locations

Lost Letters in Far Cry 4 tells the story of Lieutenant Robert Barclay and his wife Charlotte from the early 19th century. Collecting all letters will help you earn rewards, unlock an achievement, and contribute to completing the story 100%.

There are 20 letters in total, chronicling correspondence between the two lovers. It will take you some time to get all the letters, so be patient.

Lost Letter #1 – Charlotte, June 1819

Location: Near the Hariyo Ghupa location, a lost letter is located above the cliff on the west side on the Far Cry 4 map.

Lost Letter #2 – Robert, June 1819

Location: Locate the entrance to Smuggler’s Portage and go inside. Keep going until you are in the middle of the area. Then, look around to find the skeleton with a bag holding the letter you are looking for.

Lost Letter #3 – Charlotte, July 1819

Location: In the bottom southwestern end of the map, you will find Kyra’s Slumber. Go behind this area to enter the cave that hides the lost letter.

Lost Letter #4 – Robert, Aug. 1819

Location: On the eastern side of the map, you will find Yashini’s Ecstasy. From this location, go to the stream inside the well. Inside the area, you will find a shrine to your left. Once you get to the shrine, find a demon statue, and you will find the lost letter near it.

Lost Letter #5 – Charlotte, Aug. 1819

Location: Get to Yalung’s Mind and enter the cave northwest of the area. Head to the back end of the cave to find the dead man with a bag.

Lost Letter #6 – Robert, Sept. 1819

Location: From the Yalung’s Rot, move directly northeast to get to the cave with the greenlit tunnel. Look for a ledge to find the entrance to the tunnel. Go inside, and you will find the lost letter.

Lost Letter #7 – Charlotte, Oct. 1819

Location: In the southwestern corner of the map, you will find Yalung’s Jaw; the lost letter is on the northwest side of the area on the right wall.

Lost Letter #8 – Robert, Nov. 1819

Location: At the southern end of the map, you will find Mansa Market, move southeast from that point to find a house. This house will take you to a cave that hides a lost letter in the end.

Lost Letter #9 – Charlotte, Nov. 1819

Location: Right from Kalinag’s Descent, head north beside the cave near the lake to get your first lost letter. This item is right under the face of the broken statue.

Lost Letter #10 – Robert, Dec. 1819

In the western end of the map, you will find a lost letter by crossing the stream from Yakshini’s Flesh. A longer route to this letter is from the Jhankri Ashram; move southeast and you will find the location of the lost letter near the stream.

Lost Letter #11 – Charlotte, Jan. 1820

Location: Move northeast from Yalung’s Seed to the location marked above. You will find the lost letter in the bag of the dressed-up skeleton at the cave’s back end.

Lost Letter #12 – Robert, Jan. 1820

Location: You will find the lost letter on a small island near Rato Lagoon.

Lost Letter #13 – Charlotte, Feb. 1820

Location: At Banashur’s Refuge, move northwest and straight to the back end. Now, locate a shrine and look for the letter on the front side of the shrine.

Lost Letter #14 – Robert, March 1820

Location: In the topmost north area of the map, you will find Keo Logistics. Move to the back side of the area in the northeast direction and you will find a house. Enter the house and look for the lost letter beneath the stairs.

Lost Letter #15 – Charlotte, March 1820

Location: This letter can be found inside the Sealed Keo Mine. Go inside the mine and head to the back end of the mine to get your lost letter.

Lost Letter #16 – Robert, April 1820

Location: Northwest of the Keo Rija Mine, you will find a stream. Travel to the southeast direction of the stream toward the Ghumantu Sherpa Camp, and you will find the lost letter in the skeleton’s bag sitting close to the water.

Lost Letter #17 – Charlotte, May 1820

Location: Go to Svargiya Takataki Camp and grapple on the ledge to your right. You should be headed towards a small tower with a flag on top. When you are close enough, look around the tower to find the lost letter.

Lost Letter #18 – Robert, June 1820

Location: Get to Kyra Ki Sansa and go to the bridge. Now go to the hills from under the bridge on the northeast side to find a dead man’s skeleton that is dressed up and has a bag with your letter inside.

Lost Letter #19 – Charlotte, June 1820

Location: In the top-most area of the map, you will find Yalung’s Belly. Follow the northeast direction to find a cave. The letter is placed in the central area on the back side of the cave.

Lost Letter #20 – Robert, July 1820

Location: In the top northeastern region of the map, you will find Lieutenant’s Rest up in the mountains. Once you find your way up the mountains, move to the northeast side of the cliff to find a cave. Go inside the cave and grapple to the top of it. You can spot the lost letter at the shaft’s top.

Far Cry 4 Lost Letters Rewards

If you have collected 4 lost letters, you will earn the Karma Bonus. After getting 8 letters, you will get an XP Bonus, and 10 letters will get you the Caretaker of Memory Trophy.

Collecting 12 lost letters will give you another Karma Bonus, and getting all 20 will give you an XP Bonus.

Far Cry 4 Lost Letters Not Working

Many players reported missing a lost letter (Robert, June 1819) because it did not appear on their map. The letter is located close to the river, and players easily overlook it.

To get to the letter’s exact location, simply move to the western region of the map. From Smuggler’s Portage, keep heading east until you find a dead man’s skeleton. This is where you will find the missing letter.
