Events
Both of Ravensthorpe's seasonal festivals work the same way. You play minigames, the minigames pay tokens, and the tokens buy a fixed catalogue of cosmetics that disappears when the festival ends. What separates them is arithmetic: how much the full list costs, and how fast the fastest activity earns.
That is worth working out before you start, because the answer decides whether you can clear the shop in an evening or need to come back several times.
The two festivals side by side
| Yule | Sigrblot | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost of the full catalogue | 720 tokens | 1,040 tokens |
| Best single activity | 20 for the archery competition | 75 for a tournament run |
| Roughly how many runs | 36 | 14 |
| How long it runs | 21 days | Until 19 August |
| Who you buy from | Norvid, in a tent left of the Yule Brawls | The festival vendors after Sunniva's cutscene |
Sigrblot's catalogue is about 45% more expensive than Yule's, but its best activity pays nearly four times as much per attempt, so it is comfortably the faster of the two to clear. Our Sigrblot page says as much directly: get into the tournament, beat a set of enemies for 75 tokens, and repeat. Yule's equivalent, the arrow competition, tops out at 20, with the drinking game at 10 and the brawl at 5 per win.
Where the 1,040 comes from
The Sigrblot page states 1,040 tokens as the total needed to buy everything, and then lists the prices. Add the list up and you get 1,060, which is twenty more than the stated total.
The gap is explained earlier on the same page. Three of the settlement cosmetics are braziers at 20 tokens each, and the page notes that completing The Final Offering quest gives you one Brazier for free. Take one 20-token brazier out of the shopping list and it comes to exactly 1,040. The stated total already assumes you have done the quest, which is a small thing but it is the difference between budgeting for fourteen tournament runs and fifteen.
The rest of the Sigrblot catalogue breaks down as a Hunting Falcon at 200, the Srofnung weapon at 300, a Watch Tower Scheme at 110, Baldr's Offering plus the three braziers at 20 each, four Flame and Steel tattoos totalling 220, and five hair and beard styles at 30 apiece. The two big-ticket items are half the bill on their own.
Getting in the door
The two festivals gate differently, and Sigrblot is the stricter of them. It needs you to have reached England, to have finished either the Ledecestrescire or the Grantebridgescire story arc, and to have a settlement at level 2 or higher. Then walk over to Sunniva, who waits on the settlement's eastern edge and starts the whole thing with a cutscene.
Yule asks only that you have completed the opening of the game up to the point where you reach the settlement in England. Since a level 2 settlement costs 45 raw materials and 600 supplies per structure, Sigrblot effectively expects you to have done some raiding first while Yule does not.
What you are actually buying
Almost all of it is cosmetic, and it is worth being clear-eyed about that before committing fourteen tournament runs to it. Yule's 720 tokens buy the four-piece Mōdraniht Ceremonial Outfit at 60 a piece, five tattoos at 20 each, a Ceremonial Seax and a Ceremonial Shield at 150 apiece, and a set of settlement decorations at 15 to 20 each: a garland, a sacrificial altar, tree ornaments, a fire pit and the Yule Beech Tree.
Sigrblot's list is the same shape with one exception. The Hunting Falcon at 200 tokens replaces your raven, which is the only item across either festival that changes something you look at constantly rather than something that stands in the settlement. If you are only going to buy one thing, that is the one that stays visible.
Both catalogues are time limited and neither returns the tokens afterwards, so the sensible order is expensive items first. Buy the falcon and the Srofnung before the tattoos, and treat the settlement decorations as what you spend the remainder on.
