Locations
There are only two kinds of place in Odyssey that you have to go out of your way to find: the 22 tombs scattered across Greece and its islands, and the Arena. Everything else on the map either comes to you through a quest or is a region you clear on the way past.
Every guide to the tombs sorts them by region or alphabetically, which is no use to anyone, because nobody clears tombs in map order. You clear the cheap ones when you happen to be nearby and you plan a trip for the expensive ones. So this page sorts them by what each one actually asks of you, from the tombs you can walk straight through to the ones with water and puzzles in them. The Arena joins the same page because it is the one location gated by a number rather than a navigation problem.
The arithmetic first, because it is the question everyone asks and nobody answers: every tomb pays exactly the same, which is 1 Ability Point and 5,205 XP for deciphering the stele at the end. Clearing all 22 is therefore 22 Ability Points and 114,510 XP, and no tomb is worth more than any other.
What clearing this bucket actually pays
Because the reward is flat, you can decide up front how many tombs you want and stop there. There is no completionist bonus waiting at 22 and no tomb that pays double, which means the short ones are strictly better value for your time than the long ones.
| Tombs cleared | Ability Points | XP | What that is worth in practice |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | 5,205 | One extra ability slot filled sooner than the level curve would have given it to you |
| 5 | 5 | 26,025 | Enough to finish a single combat or hunter tree early |
| 10 | 10 | 52,050 | The realistic target if you only take the straight runs and the single-hazard tombs |
| 15 | 15 | 78,075 | Everything except the water tombs and the furniture puzzles |
| 22 | 22 | 114,510 | Every tomb on the map, including the two underwater ones and the well entrance |
The Arena pays differently. There is gear from each champion, a legendary item and a cultist clue from Titos, Skoura's own spear from the final duel, and the Achievement for beating the five gatekeeper champions. Full routes for all 22 tombs are on our tombs locations guide, and the fight-by-fight detail is on our Arena location guide.
Every location sorted by what it asks of you
The tiers below come from our own route notes rather than from any timer. A tomb is in Tier 1 if the route contains nothing but doors, stairs, holes and a wooden barrier. Tier 2 adds one hazard, meaning snakes or a trap floor. Tier 3 means a piece of furniture you have to move. Tier 4 means water, a well, or several of those stacked on top of each other.
| Location | Tier | Where to start looking | Boat needed? | What is in the way |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parmenon Tomb | 1 | Right below the City of the Champions, right of the Eagle Viewpoint | Yes | One barrier, then a hole. The shortest route on the page |
| Destroyed House of Oinomaos | 1 | North of the Valley of Olympia | No | One barrier and a flight of stairs |
| Tomb of Alkathous | 1 | West of the Valley of King Lelex, near the Leader House | No | One obstacle to climb |
| Tomb of the Daughter of Atlas | 1 | Straight west of Mount Psophis | No | One obstacle and a wall hole |
| Pheidon’s Tomb | 1 | A cave by the statue next to the Leader House, City of Argos | No | Pots blocking the path, then a barrier on the wall itself |
| Tomb of the First Pythia | 1 | Parnas, near the Temple of Apollo | No | A climb, then a broken wall you have to attack |
| Waterfall of Styx | 2 | North of Mount Psophis, right of the Valley of Olympia | No | Two snakes before you can reach the stele |
| Tomb of Orion | 2 | Directly north of Oropos Heights | No | Snakes and floor traps |
| Tomb of the Forgotten Hero | 2 | North of Helot Hills toward Zarax Point, near the beach, up the hill | No | A trapped room, then two wall holes |
| Tomb of Polybotes | 2 | Below Pharmakela Bay, Southern Sporades | Yes | Traps in the final room |
| Tomb of Brizo | 2 | Delos, beneath the Sacred Lands of Artemis | Yes | A snake sitting on the hole you need |
| Mycenaean Tomb of Ajax | 2 | Directly below the Isle of Salamis | No | Three flights of stairs and a ceiling drop |
| Alkaios Tomb | 3 | Above Atoll Point on Paros, on the beach | Yes | One cupboard to push aside |
| Abandoned Tomb | 3 | Directly below Sky Fall Lakes on Lemnos | Yes | A cupboard on a lower floor you must pull before going back up |
| Agamemnon’s Tomb | 3 | Below the Palace of Agamemnon, in the jungles | No | Furniture dragged to a spiked wooden wall and climbed |
| Stony Sepulchr | 3 | West of Affluence Bay, visible from the Eagle Viewpoint to the north | No | Three cupboards, all moved left, plus traps |
| Tomb of Orpheus | 3 | Directly north of Ancient Pearl, below Lesbos | Yes | A statue to climb and four cupboards to align |
| Tomb of Eteokles | 3 | About 50m north-west of the Sacred Plains of Demeter | No | Two snakes and a giant cupboard repositioned twice |
| Giant Heroes Burial Ground | 4 | Just above Marble Bay on Naxos | Yes | A ceiling hole that drops into water, then a cupboard |
| Artemision Tomb | 4 | North of Euboea, north of Artemision Point, right to the end | Yes | An underwater stretch, a trapped room, a cupboard and two more stair climbs. The longest route on the page |
| Tomb of the First Champion | 4 | Above the Forgotten Swamps, below the Erymanthos Foothills | No | Entered by climbing down a well, then a cupboard climb, snakes, a room whose entire floor is a trap, and a memorial wall you have to strike |
| Tomb of Eurypylos | 4 | Not recorded on our page | Unknown | A movable cupboard, a hole hidden behind pots, and traps throughout |
| The Arena | Level gated | Pephka, on the extreme southeast edge of the map, near the eastern coastline | Yes | Not a puzzle at all. Six fighters between level 22 and 50 |
Tier 1: the straight runs
Six tombs contain no puzzle, no water and no hazard worth naming. Parmenon Tomb is the shortest thing in the game: break the barrier, take the stairs, take the first left, slip through a hole and the stele is there. Destroyed House of Oinomaos and Tomb of Alkathous are barely longer. Pheidon’s Tomb is the odd one, because the last barrier is set into a wall rather than across a corridor, so people walk past it. If you are collecting Ability Points opportunistically, these six are the ones to detour for.
Tier 2: one hazard, no puzzle
These six are still linear, but something in them will hurt you. Waterfall of Styx makes you fight two snakes before the final turn. Tomb of Orion has snakes and traps in the same stretch. Tomb of the Forgotten Hero opens into a room with a trap in it and then hides the exit behind two separate wall holes. Tomb of Brizo puts a snake directly on the hole you need to slip through, so it has to die first. The Mycenaean Tomb of Ajax has no hazard as such but does have the most vertical route in this tier, three flights of stairs up to a room with a hole in the ceiling that you then climb back down through.
Tier 3: the furniture puzzles
Six tombs make you move something. Alkaios Tomb and Abandoned Tomb are single cupboards, though the Abandoned Tomb is the one people get stuck in because the cupboard is down a set of stairs you then have to walk back up. Agamemnon’s Tomb is a variation: you drag furniture to a spiked wooden wall and use it as a step. Stony Sepulchr wants three cupboards all moved to the left before the path behind the last one opens, and Tomb of Orpheus wants four aligned. Tomb of Eteokles is the most elaborate of them, with the same giant cupboard pulled, left behind, and then pulled again from a second position.
Tier 4: water, a well and the long ones
Four tombs are genuinely a trip. Giant Heroes Burial Ground drops you through a ceiling hole into water and makes you swim the first half. Artemision Tomb does the same in the middle of a much longer route that also includes a trapped room and a cupboard, which makes it the longest single route we have written up. Tomb of the First Champion is the strangest entrance in the game, a well you climb down, and it then stacks a cupboard climb, snakes, a room whose entire floor is a trap, and a memorial plaque you have to strike to open a wall.
Tomb of Eurypylos belongs here on route length, but we should be straight about it: our own page records no location for it. The interior directions are complete, the map reference is not, so treat it as the one tomb you will have to stumble across rather than navigate to.
The five things every tomb is built from
Once you have done three or four of these, you stop reading routes and start recognising parts. Odyssey assembles all 22 interiors out of the same small kit, and knowing the kit is faster than knowing the map.
| Obstacle | Where it shows up | What to do about it |
|---|---|---|
| Wooden barriers and cracked walls | Nearly every tomb, usually just past the dark entrance | Hit them. The cracked ones look like scenery, which is why Pheidon’s Tomb and Tomb of Brizo catch people out |
| Pushable furniture | Alkaios, Abandoned Tomb, Agamemnon’s, Stony Sepulchr (three), Orpheus (four), Eteokles (one, moved twice), First Champion, Eurypylos, Giant Heroes Burial Ground | Either it hides a doorway or it is a step up to something. If a room looks like a dead end, there is furniture in it |
| Snakes and floor traps | Orion, Eteokles, Waterfall of Styx, Brizo, Polybotes, Stony Sepulchr, First Champion, Eurypylos, Forgotten Hero | Snakes can be killed or walked around, except where one is sitting on the hole you need. Traps want you to slow down, and the First Champion has a room that is entirely trap floor |
| Ceiling holes and one-way drops | Ajax, Agamemnon’s, Brizo, Orpheus, Abandoned Tomb, Artemision, Giant Heroes Burial Ground | These are usually the route, not a hazard. If you are circling a room with a hole in the ceiling, go up and come back down through it |
| Water and the well | Giant Heroes Burial Ground and Artemision go underwater, Tomb of the First Champion is entered by climbing down a well | Nothing special is required beyond swimming, but they are the three entrances people fail to recognise as entrances |
The tombs you need a boat for
Eight of the 22 sit on islands, and because they are spread across the Aegean rather than clustered, they are much cheaper to do as one sailing run than as eight separate detours. Working roughly west to east that is Alkaios Tomb above Atoll Point on Paros, Giant Heroes Burial Ground above Marble Bay on Naxos, Tomb of Brizo beneath the Sacred Lands of Artemis on Delos, Tomb of Polybotes below Pharmakela Bay in the Southern Sporades, Tomb of Orpheus north of Ancient Pearl below Lesbos, Abandoned Tomb below Sky Fall Lakes on Lemnos, Artemision Tomb north of Artemision Point on Euboea, and Parmenon Tomb below the City of the Champions.
Three of those eight are Tier 3 or Tier 4, so the run is not a quick one, but it pays 8 Ability Points and 41,640 XP if you clear the lot. If you are going to be at sea anyway, our naval combat and ship upgrades guides cover getting there in one piece, and several Cult of Kosmos targets roam the same waters.
The Arena: the one location gated by your level
The Arena is not a place you find by exploring. It comes to you through the bounty system: hunt down a few mercenaries with bounties on their heads and you are sent an invitation, which starts the side quest They Just Want Cruelty and tasks you with finding the Arena without making its location known. The fastest specific route to that invitation is killing Talos the Stone Fist on Kephallonia, who drops the Arena letter outright, which is covered on our mercenaries guide.
The Arena itself is on an island in Pephka, on the extreme southeast edge of the map, near Pephka’s eastern coastline. The gatekeeper offers you five champions, and beating all five earns the Achievement. Skoura is not one of the five: he is the Arena’s old leader and is fought afterwards, through the follow-up quest Heroes of The Arena, by taking the Mystery Opponent option.
| Champion | Level | The hazard in that fight | How to handle them | What it pays |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Klaudios, King of the Bandits | 22 | Spiked pillars rising out of the ground | Bait enemies into the pillars. He throws smoke bombs, which your bow’s targeting reticule cuts through, and his attacks poison, so avoid rather than trade. The waves get harder as the fight runs | Gear, and the legendary Arena Fighters Gauntlets |
| Belos, the Beast of Sparta | 29 | Small fire pits around the edge | Light your arrows in the pits for a burn effect and keep re-lighting your weapons. Watch for his shield charge, which hits hard | Gear, and credit for a Cult of Kosmos kill |
| Evanthe, the Huntress | 36 | Wolves | Never let the wolves reach you. Clear the minions first, then use the barricades as cover and answer with arrows | Gear |
| Titos, the Rock of Athens | 43 | Fiery pillars and a large firepit | Clear the minions, then dodge his dashes and arrows. Parrying him is very hard, so use heavy attacks to get through the shield | A legendary item and a cultist clue |
| Vasilis, the King of the Arena | 50 | Perimeter spikes, pillars, fire and death pits | Push the very tough waves into the death pits. He leaps at you with sword and shield and drinks a potion to heal, so keep attacking through the heal and lean on status effects | Gear, and the fifth Achievement kill |
| Skoura, the Hero of the Arena | 50 | None. A straight duel with no minions | A long fight with a lot of tricks in it. Avoid his spears and knockbacks and grind him down | His spear |
When to come back
The level spread is wide enough that this is two visits, not one. Klaudios at 22 is comfortably an early trip and worth making for the Gauntlets alone. Belos at 29 doubles as a Cult kill, so it is worth clearing on the same visit. Evanthe at 36 and Titos at 43 sit in the middle of the campaign, and Vasilis and Skoura at 50 are an endgame trip. There is no penalty for leaving and coming back, so take the first two early and treat the rest as a milestone.
Fighting the arena itself
Every champion fight uses the arena furniture, and the fastest kills come from the room rather than your build. Sparta Kick into the spikes is the single most efficient tool here. Shield-Breaker and Second Wind are the other two abilities our page calls out, and the fire pits in Belos’s fight can be used against anything else in the arena too. Gear matters more than usual because the level floor is high: our legendary armor and legendary weapons guides cover what to bring, and clearing every level of the Arena unlocks the Arena Fighter’s Set.
Quick answers
What do I get for all 22 tombs? 22 Ability Points and 114,510 XP, because every tomb pays 1 Ability Point and 5,205 XP and none of them pays more. There is no separate completion bonus.
What does deciphering an Ancient Stele actually do? It is the interaction at the end of the tomb that hands over the reward. Reaching the stele is the whole tomb; the fight, if there is one, is a snake.
How many tombs are on islands? Eight of the 22, which is why they are worth batching into a single sailing trip rather than visiting one at a time.
Do I need to be a certain level? Not for the tombs. They are navigation, not combat, and the only enemies in them are snakes. The Arena is the opposite: no puzzles at all, and a level floor of 22 that climbs to 50.
