Items

Three item pages, and the useful way to read them together is by distance from a shop counter. Capitale can be bought outright with gold or earned the slow way through Blood Money work. Of the eighteen moonshine ingredients, exactly half are sold by the Catalogue or by Madam Nazar and the other half have to be picked off a bush or dug out of a bottle map. And the nine recipes those ingredients make can be ranked by how many of their three slots force you to leave town, from none at all to all three.

Capitale: gold gets you there fastest

Capitale is the currency of the Blood Money content, and our Capitale page is really a price list of shortcuts. The fence sells 10 Capitale for 3 gold bars, and his Hired Gun Kit, at 5 gold bars, comes with another 10 on top of the ammo, consumables and gun oil. The Quick Draw Club pass pays 25 Capitale at its rank 6 and 40 more at rank 23. Everything else is looting: the Blood Money missions Guido Martelli hands out from the garden in Saint Denis never pay Capitale directly, but they put you among the bodies, lockboxes, stashes and treasure chests that do.

Crimes are the second door into that loot, and they open by riding up to four contacts marked with the Blood Money icon: Anthony Foreman in the north-east of Saint Denis, Sean Macguire south of Blackwater, Joe east of Emerald Ranch and James Langton north-west of MacFarlane's Ranch. Meeting them also unlocks Free Roam Missions. The money goes back out on Opportunities at 15, 20 and 25 Capitale for the standard, hard and ruthless versions, so one fence purchase buys most of a standard job and the two Quick Draw Club payouts cover a ruthless one with change.

Ingredients: nine bought, eight picked, one dug up

You need a Moonshine Shack before any of this matters; how to get one is in our mechanics guide. With the shack owned, our Moonshine Ingredients page places all eighteen inputs, and it stresses that its spots are simply the easiest, not the only ones. Grouping them by who is holding them turns a location list into a shopping plan.

Two trips do most of the foraging. The south-west of Valentine holds Blackberry, Wild Mint and, on the plains, Ginseng in one loop, and a ride around Saint Denis collects Vanilla Flower and Evergreen Huckleberry. Vanilla Flower is worth the detour more than anything else on the list, because it appears in three different recipes.

Recipes, ordered by how many bushes each needs

Our Moonshine Recipes page gives nine recipes at three ingredients each, with the later ones gated by Moonshiner rank or by the Bootlegger story. Cross it against the ingredient sources above and one recipe stands out: Wild Cider is the only moonshine you can make without picking anything, since Apple comes from the Catalogue and Currant and Ginseng from Madam Nazar. At the other end, Wild Creek needs three wild plants, one of which does not always spawn.

Which recipe pays best is not something our pages settle. The recipes page says only that stronger moonshine earns more per batch, and our stronger moonshine guide ties that strength to the Condenser and Polished Copper upgrades rather than to any particular flavour, with flavourings adding to the price after the upgrade. So the honest advice from what we have is to buy the upgrades first and choose the recipe by which bushes you are already riding past.

Two ingredients we cannot place

The recipes page asks for Canned Berries in Berry Mint and for Agarita in Agarita Sunrise, and neither appears anywhere on our ingredients page. The four canned goods it does list are apricots, peaches, pineapples and strawberries, and Agarita is absent altogether. Treat both as open questions rather than as items you have somehow missed; the two tables above mark them so you do not plan a run around them.

Everything here is paid for in one of the game's three units, and the Red Dead Online guide lays out which purchases want rank, which want dollars and which, like Capitale and the shack itself, only take gold. For the fastest routes to that cash, our money farming guide is the place to start.
