Great Stars is one of the best hammers in Elden Ring and is more than capable of melting any bosses, even in the DLC. It is basically a Strength weapon that benefits the melee players and inflicts bleeding upon enemies.
In this guide, we will help you locate Great Stars Hammer and explain the best builds it can go with.
Great Stars Location
Great Stars can be obtained from two locations in the base game. The first location is a treasure chest on a moving cart driven by two massive trolls. The said cart is in the Altus Plateau region, south of Road of Iniquity Side Path Grace.
From the site of grace, travel southeast to locate the moving cart surrounded by many enemies. Make sure to be well-equipped, as there is also a pumpkin-head mini-boss around the cart.
To obtain the second Great Stars Hammer for a dual-wield build, you need to find and defeat Magnus the Beast Claw NPC. He can be found inside the Writheblood Ruins in the Altus Plateau region.
To reach these ruins, travel southeast from Road of Inequity Side Path Grace, east of the Minor Erdtree. Go to the northern part of the ruins to locate his invasion sign. If you are not following Varre’s questline, the sign won’t appear.
Upon defeat, Magnus the Beast Claw drops a Great Stars Hammer and 1x Somber Smithing Stone 6.
Great Stars Stats and Requirements
Great Stars causes Blood Loss to build up (55) upon enemies, and each strike restores some of the players’ health. As a Strength weapon primarily, you will need 22 Strength and 12 Dexterity to wield Great Stars Hammer successfully.
Its unique skill is Endure, which increases your poise temporarily at the cost of 9 FP. Great Stars hammer weighs 10, making it a bit difficult to wield two if you don’t have sufficient load capacity.
Great Stars Hammer can be infused with Ashes of War and can be upgraded up to +25 with the help of smithing stones. We recommend using Prelate’s Charge ash of war to use with it to not only inflict maximum possible damage but also recover a lot of health in the process.
Best Build for Great Stars Hammer in Elden Ring
As a strength weapon with C scaling, we recommend investing in Strength stat as much as possible. The ideal Strength for this hammer is 70-80.
As Great Stars can also inflict bleeding, we also recommend investing in Arcane up to 50. This will allow you to deal with Blood Loss on enemies much more quickly.
For Ash of War, we recommend using the ones that allow you to deal with multiple strikes at once. For this purpose, our recommendations are.
- Prelate’s Charge
- Wild Strikes
- Cragblade
For Talismans, we recommend using Talismans that increase your equipment load (as we are going with two Great Stars hammers) and increase your attack.
- Great Jar Arsenal (increase max equipment load)
- Ritual Sword Talisman (increase attack by 10% at full health)
- Lord of Blood’s Exultation (increases attack power by 20% if bleeding occurs in your vicinity)
For Cracked Tears, we recommend using Crimson-Sapping Cracked Tear. It increases health recovery from each attack you land on an enemy.
We don’t recommend any infusion with this weapon, but you can try Cold or Heavy if you want some variety.
