How To Cure Scarlet Rot In Elden Ring

Let us help you in curing Scarlet Rot, one of the worst status ailments in video games history.

Scarlet Rot is the scariest ailment in Elden Ring. This status effect works like poison and drains your health constantly but at a much greater pace. Not only does it kill you in seconds, but there is a chance to contract it way faster than other status effects. However, like most status ailments, Scarlet Rot can be cured.

While you can’t avoid Scarlet Rot completely while discovering Caelid or its neighboring regions like Lake of Rot, you can still avoid your imminent doom with the help of our guide.

How to Cure Scarlet Rot

Once the Scarlet Rot ailment has built up, you will start losing your health at an alarming rate. You will have only a few seconds to react before you succumb to it. There are three ways to cure it once you are afflicted.

The first method is also the best one. You will need to consume Preserving Boluses to cure Scarlet Rot built up immediately. This item is a consumable that can be purchased, looted, and even crafted.

To craft a Preserving Bolus, you will need to find Armorer’s Cookbook 6 from the Sifora River Bank Site of Grace. Once you have the book, the recipe to craft Preserving Boluses will unlock. You will need the following items.

  • 1x Sacramental Bud
  • 1x Crystal Cave Moss
  • 2x Dewkissed Herba

These items are easy to obtain by scavenging. You can get Sacramental Buds from Caelid, Crystal Cave Moss from the dark and damp caves in Limgrave, and Sacramental Buds from the Sifora River region.

As you can craft an infinite number of Preserving Bolusesl and use them anytime you want, this is our preferred way to cure Scarlet Rot in Elden Ring.

The second method involves using the Speckled Hardtear in your Flask of Wondrous Physick. This crystal tear can be obtained by defeating Wormface mini-boss near the Minor Erdtree in the Atlus Plateau region. However, you can only use your Flask of Wondrous Physick only once per rest at any Site of Grace.

The third method involves using spells. Two spells, Flame, Cleanse Me, and Law of Regression, can cure Scarlet Rot immediately.

Flame, Cleanse Me can be obtained from a Fire Monk camp in Eastern Liurnia. It requires 12 Faith and 14 FP to cast with a proper Sacred Seal. However, this spell drains a bit of your HP every time you cast it.

Law of Regression Incantation can be obtained by giving the Golden Order Principia Prayerbook to either Brother Corhyn or Miriel. However, it costs 10000 runes, and you will need 37 Intelligence to cast it.

FYI

We have a detailed guide on the Law of Regression and how you can use it to cure any ailments and solve Radagon’s Statue puzzle.

These are all the ways you can use to immediately cure Scarlet Rot.

How to stop Scarlet Rot Build-Up

You can’t stop Scarlet Rot from building up completely, but you can slow it down. The only way to achieve this is by increasing your immunity, which can be done permanently in two ways.

  • Investing in your Vigor Stat beyond level 30. Once your Vigor goes beyond 30, every point invested in it will substantially increase your immunity.
  • Wearing armor that increases your immunity. It can be a shield, chest piece, Talisman or a headgear. Some famous gear to increase your immunity are Immunizing Horn Charm +1, Ant’s Skull Plate, and Coil Shield.
