Quests

Hitman 3 hands Agent 47 six destinations, and each one is a box of contradictions: a tower, a manor, a nightclub, a rain-soaked street, a vineyard and a moving train. This guide puts all six in campaign order, says who you are there to kill, and points you at the page that covers each part of clearing them out.

Hitman 3 Missions Walkthrough

Nothing here is missable. You can go back to any destination whenever you like, which is the only reason a first run matters less than it feels like it does. Play the story once for the plot, then treat each map as the puzzle box it actually is.

Mission stories, and the two maps that have none

Four of the destinations run on mission stories, the scripted opportunities that walk you into a target's blind spot. Dubai has three of them, Chongqing has three, and Dartmoor has three that between them let you play detective, crash a photoshoot or attend a funeral. Mendoza has the most, with The Tour, Closing Statement, Eyes on Target and Over the Top all pulling in different directions.

Berlin and the Carpathian Mountains have none at all, and both are better for it. Berlin drops you at a fuel station with no map markers and ten enemies who look like everyone else. The train is a corridor, so the improvisation happens in what you carry and what you pick up on the way.

Challenges, Mastery and the trophies attached to them

Challenges are the currency of every map. Finishing them pushes up that destination's Mastery Level, which is what unlocks new starting positions and the gear you get to smuggle in, and the gear carries over to every other map once it is yours.

Most maps ask for Mastery Level 20, and the good news buried in our challenge lists is that you do not need a clean sweep to get there. Roughly 85 percent of the list is enough. That gets you the Great Outdoors trophy in Dartmoor, Warehouse Veteran in Berlin and Vineyard Virtuoso in Mendoza. The Carpathian Mountains are the exception: Last Stop only wants Mastery Level 5, which is about three quarters of its shorter list. One warning worth repeating, because it costs people entire evenings: challenge progress does not register unless you are playing online.

Hidden areas and shortcuts

Every destination hides rooms that only count once you have physically stood in them, and each one has a trophy waiting at the end of the list. Dartmoor asks for 22 and pays out No Stone Unturned, Berlin asks for the same number and gives you Followed the Trails, Chongqing wants 29 for Surveillance Master, and Mendoza is the marathon at 45 areas spread over seven levels for Master the Terroir.

Shortcuts are the smaller collection, around 15 across the game with roughly three on each map, and they are worth chasing early for a practical reason: once you crack one open it stays open on every future run of that level. A ladder you unlock on a scouting run is a ladder you can drop down on the run that counts.

After the campaign

The story is not the end of the contracts. The Gluttony Gobble escalation sends you back to Chongqing across three levels, each one asking you to feed a golden pig statue a shopping list of food that only drops when you kill the right masked NPC with the right implement. Clear all three and you walk away with the Profligacy Suit, the Maximalist Shotgun and a sedative disguised as bubblegum.
