Items
Two of our God of War pages are inventories. One lists the enchantments that slot into Kratos's armor, the other the materials that pay for every upgrade Brok and Sindri sell. Both give a source for every entry, and that source is the useful way to read them, because it answers the question a player actually has at the shop counter: if I spend this now, can I get another one? Some sources answer yes for as long as you have Hacksilver, some answer yes if you go and fight again, and a good many answer no, once, and only there. This guide sorts both lists on that line.
Enchantments: 55 Unique Pieces By Who Hands Them Over
The enchantments guide opens with 60 perk descriptions, from Defender's Cooldown to Destroyer's Health Burst, and then lists 55 named unique enchantments with a rarity and a location for each: 16 Rare, 24 Legendary, 14 Epic and one, Sigil of the Weapon, that carries no rarity label. Randomly generated enchantments can also be bought at the Huldra shops, and the page prices them in two currencies at once: 3,000 Hacksilver plus 2 Enchanted Dust for a common one, 10,000 and 10 for a Rare, 15,000 and 50 for a Legendary, and 15,000 with 250 Dust for an Epic. Sorting the named ones by source gives the table below.
| Source | How many | Can it give a second one? | Which |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bought from a shop | 13 | Yes, for Hacksilver | The ten Fiery and Frozen Shards (Dagr, Logi, Aurvandil, Jarnsaxa, Hyrrokkin, Hymir, Buri, Borr, Bestla, Hroor), each tied to one Runic Attack and boosting two random stats, plus Mark of Brilliant Force, Glowing Gem of the Nine and, at the Muspelheim shop, Muspelheim's Eye of Power |
| Dropped by an enemy type | 9 | Yes, wherever that enemy stands | Fire, Lava, Frost, Forest and Stone Ancients (Fire Sigil of Focus and of Might, both Frost Sigils of Focus and Defense, Seidr Sigil of Toughness, Fragmented Heart of Alfheim), two Soul Devourers (Seidr Sigils of Runic Power and Protection), a Hel-Traveler (Valkyrie's Bane) |
| Dropped by a named Valkyrie | 9 | No, each Valkyrie dies once | Kara (Heart of Midgard), Gunnr (Feathers of the Fallen Servant), Geirdriful (Heart of Vanaheim), Gondul (Leviathan's Eye), Rota (Asgard's Shard of Existence), Sigrun (Njord's Temporal Stone), Hildr (Heart of the Valkyrie), Olrun (Ivaldi's Corrupted Mind), Eir (Eye of the Winged Chosen) |
| Favor reward | 7 | No | The Imprisonment of Otr, The Flight of Fafnir, Second Hand Soul (from its Soul Eater), all the Wayward Spirits favors together (Tyr's Shard), Deus Ex Malachite, The Fire of Reginn, and a coffin opened during Hail to the King |
| Treasure map dig | 7 | No | The Turtle's Tribute, Hunter's Kingdom, Kneel Before Thor!, Don't Blink, The Historian, The Last Place They'd Look, Njord's Oarsmen |
| A coffin | 7 | No | Stone Falls, the Rune Vault, Landsuther Mines, one near Thamur's Corpse, one in Helheim, the Foothills (Blades of Chaos needed), the Secret Chamber of Odin (Eye of the Outer Realm, +7 to every stat) |
| Found in a place | 3 | No | The Wildwoods Hidden Chamber (Heart of Svartalfheim), Northri Stronghold (Hamingja Essence), and Niflheim's Center Chamber Legendary chest, which costs 2,500 Mist Echoes to open (Eye of Niflheim) |
Twenty-two of the 55 can therefore be had again, and 33 are single finds. The Valkyrie row is the one to read twice, because the nine Valkyries the page names are also where our materials guide sends you for Asgardian Steel, so those nine fights pay in two currencies at once, and neither payment repeats. The Ancients row is the opposite case: the same Frost Ancient that drops Frost Sigil of Focus on The Mountain has a cousin at Northern Dock dropping Frost Sigil of Defense, and Ancients can be fought again for the materials guide's Rubble and Heart.
One entry on the page reads wrong and is left for an editor rather than quoted here. Sigil of the Axe is labelled Axe Throw Mastery but its effect text describes a Burn damage increase, which is the Fire Mastery effect; the two Epic and Legendary Axe Throw Mastery entries nearby say 6 percent to axe throws, maxing at 18. Until someone checks it in game, treat the Sigil of the Axe row as unconfirmed.
Materials: 44 Crafting Resources On The Same Line
The materials guide gives a location, a use and a farming note for 44 crafting materials, then a list of 15 tradeable stacks with shop prices and eight special items that raise stats directly. Applying the same repeatable-or-not split shows that most of the materials that upgrade armor and weapons can be farmed, while most of the materials that upgrade a single pommel or talisman come from one dig or one favor.
| Source | Repeats? | Materials | What they upgrade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coffins and large enemies, by stage of the game | Yes | Soft, then Solid, then Hardened Svartalfheim Steel | Armor and the Talon Bow |
| The Lake of Nine, in the water and in coffins around it | Yes | Aegir's Gold (dug from a boat by Atreus where the water shimmers), World Serpent Scale Fragments and Scales | Armor and Runic Attacks; common and rare pommels |
| Realm Tears, closed by fighting what comes out | Yes | Dust of Realms, Pure Essence of Realms | Talismans |
| Shop exchange | Yes, while you have the currency | Frozen Flame for Niflheim's chilling mist, Chaos Flame for Muspelheim's Raging Inferno | The Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos |
| Enemy families | Yes | Traveler's Grisly Trophy and Armor Shard, Ancient's Rubble and Heart | The Traveler and Ancient armor sets |
| Niflheim chests, Legendary chests included | Yes | Mist Echoes, Niflheim Alloy Fragment, Haze Weave, Aesirbane | Niflheim armor, pommels and talismans |
| Muspelheim trial chests | Embers from the chests after the trials; Crest of Flame from the impossible trials, the Greater Crest for Silver or Gold on Impossible Trial 6, the Crest of Surtr for Gold on it | Smoldering Ember, Crest of Flame, Greater Crest of Flame, Crest of Surtr | Muspelheim equipment |
| Valkyries | No, one steel per fight | Asgardian Steel, and Perfect Asgardian Steel from the high-level ones | Valkyrie armor, pommels and talismans |
| Treasure maps | No | Leiptr Alloy (also dropped by Magni and Modi, and listed a second time as the map-cache material for Valkyrie gear), Eternal Frost, Unyielding Cinders, Unstable Ore, Glacial Catalyst | One pommel or talisman each: Grip of Tanngiost, Ymir's Breath, Explosive Grips of Fire, Grips of the Cursed Flame, the Charm of Infinite Storms |
| Favors | No | Corrupted Remnant (Unfinished Business), Offering to Tyr (Anatomy of Hope, Dead Freight, Hammer Fall), Dragon's Fury, Screams of the Innocent and Ultimate Sacrifice (Hail to the King), Rusted Royal Armor (Ivaldi's Protection) | The Versatile Warrior's Handle, and shop trade-ins |
| Set pieces of the world | No | Dragon Tear (one from each of three freed Dragons), Oblivion Stone (Konunsgard chests), Pristine Dust, Ore and Scales of the Realm (Stone Falls, Iron Cove, Light Elf Outpost) | Two Epic talismans, Hraezla Farmadr's Grip, powerful armor |
| Nornir chests | No, three each | Idunn Apple, Horn of Blood Mead | Maximum health and maximum rage |
Enchanted Dust is the material that joins the two pages. The enchantments guide prices every generated enchantment partly in Dust, and the materials guide says Dust comes from breaking enchantments down on the shop's sell tab, with higher-tier enchantments yielding more. Read together, that is a loop: the 22 repeatable enchantments above are also the Dust supply for rolling new ones, and the 33 single finds are the ones never to break.
The tradeable list at the end of the materials page carries shop prices for stacks of steel, gold and scales, but several stacks appear twice at different figures: a single Hardened Svartalfheim Steel at 40,000 Hacksilver and again at 10,000, Soft at 250 and 1,000, Solid at 2,500 and 10,000. The page does not say which figure is a purchase and which a sale, so the prices are not repeated here. The eight special items are clearer: Mark of the Dwarves arrives on its own with Runic +4, and seven Yggdrasil's Dews sit around the Lake of Nine and the Lake of Light in Alfheim, each worth +2 to one stat, two of them to Cooldown and one each to Defense, Luck, Runic, Strength and Vitality.
Spend Order
The split tells you what to protect and what to burn. Steel, Aegir's Gold, scales, Ember and Mist Echoes come back, so armor and weapon upgrades can be bought as soon as the shop offers them. A pommel or talisman that wants Eternal Frost, Unyielding Cinders, Glacial Catalyst or a Dragon Tear is a one-time decision, because the map cache or the Dragon that supplied it will not do so twice. The same is true of every Valkyrie drop, which is why the enchantment a Valkyrie leaves behind is worth slotting rather than dismantling. What each upgrade actually does to Kratos's fight, and which tool the enemies guide sends you in with, is the subject of our enemies and upgrades guide, and both halves meet on the God of War hub.
