Conan Exiles Named Thralls: Where Tier Four Crafters Spawn

There is a point in Conan Exiles where your benches stop improving because of anything you do. You have the recipes, you have the materials, and the numbers still will not move. What is missing is a person. Named thralls are the fourth tier of crafter, they are the only ones with proper names rather than a numeral after the job title, and putting one on a bench changes what that bench is capable of making rather than just how fast it makes it.

What a named crafter is worth

The tier ladder is steep at the top. As our thrall capturing guide sets out, a tier one crafter is about ten percent quicker, a tier two adds a saving of roughly a quarter on materials, and a named tier four cuts the material bill in half while working half again as fast. Halving the material cost on a bench you are about to run several hundred crafts through is not a small optimisation.

The bigger prize is access. Recipes exist that no amount of knowledge points will give you and that only appear when a named crafter is standing at the station: epic armor, the flawless weapon versions, and hardened steel variants among them. That is why the thrall hunt is part of gear progression rather than an optional side activity, as our armor guide explains for the flawless tier in particular.

Where they stand

SettlementFactionBest known for
SepermeruRelic HuntersThe widest range: armorers, alchemists, carpenters and smelters
Mounds of the DeadHeirs of the NorthNordheimer fighters and smiths
The Black GalleonBlack HandZamorian thief crafters, and captains up on the deck
New AsagarthHeirs of the NorthSeveral named spawns, plus steel bars off almost every body

All four are marked on our camps and NPC locations page, which lists 85 settlements across nine factions and colour codes them by how dangerous they are. The four above are the purple end of that key, which is the point: the largest settlements carry the most spawn slots, and spawn slots are what you are really farming.

Sepermeru has the best odds

If you are only going to learn one route, learn this one. Sepermeru is the Relic Hunter city, and our camps page covers it as five named districts: the Temple Quarter, Waterside, Southlake, Westwall Prison and Westwall. Sweeping the whole city rather than raiding one corner of it is what makes the trip pay, and a clean full sweep commonly turns up five to eight named thralls. Relic Hunter captains appear in the city interior and around the Aviary.

It is also, as our main Conan Exiles guide warns, a city well enough guarded that only a high level and properly equipped character should attempt it. Go in at the wrong level and you will donate your gear to it.

A word on the odds

Outside guides will sometimes tell you a particular settlement guarantees a named spawn. Our own camps page is more careful, and it is the version we stand by: a desirable thrall is never guaranteed anywhere, the chance simply rises with the number of spawn slots a place has. The Mounds of the Dead is about as reliable as this game gets, and it is still a roll.

Plan accordingly. A named thrall run is a route you repeat, not an errand you complete, and the right expectation is several passes through a large settlement rather than one lucky visit.

Match the thrall to the bench

Named crafters carry specialisations, with titles such as Shieldwright, Edgesmith and Tempersmith, and each one bends a different part of what the bench produces. Capturing a superb armorer does nothing for your furnace. Work out which bench is your bottleneck first, then go hunting for that job specifically, rather than dragging home whoever you happened to knock out.

The capture itself is unchanged from any other thrall: truncheon, bindings, wheel of pain, food in the wheel. Our thrall capturing guide covers the process and how to identify each job on sight. The Isle of Siptah works differently enough to need its own page, since the island hands you thralls through surge events instead of asking you to raid anybody. Our Isle of Siptah thralls page covers both kinds and what they cost.
