Bosses
Look at what this bucket actually holds and one thing jumps out before any of the fights do. Every boss with a page of its own belongs to Extinction or Genesis, the two expansions that replaced the Island's arena ritual with something else entirely. The Broodmother, the Megapithecus and the Dragon get named all over this wiki, on the Fjordur artifacts page, in the obelisks guide and inside the cave locations roundup, but not one of them has a fight page here. What survives instead is the endgame of the two DLCs, and the three pages line up as a ladder rather than a list.
That ladder has a rule the Island never had. On the Island you kill the boss. On Extinction you are supposed to leave it alive, and every point of damage you deal on the way is deducted from what you end up owning.
The three fights at a glance
| Fight | Where it starts | What it wants first | What you keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ice Titan | Ice Terminal at 6.7, 85.8, reached through a cave mouth at 20.3, 62.2 | 100 Corrupt Hearts, 10 Spinosaurus Sails, 10 Therizino Claws, 1 Artifact of the Void | A Titan with a platform saddle and a cockpit, if you held back |
| King Titan | The King Titan Terminal, north of the map near the snow cave | Trophies from the three lesser Titans, 300 Corrupt Heart, 10 Alpha Tyrannosaur Tooth, 20 Titanboa Venom | Loot, an Artifact Pod, and the trophy that unlocks the next tier |
| Master Controller | HLN-A, once every Genesis objective is done | No tribute at all, only Code-Keys pulled off the corpses mid-fight | An implant and fifteen character levels |
Ice Titan: the fight you must not win too hard
The Ice Titan is not standing anywhere waiting for you. It has to be called up at the Ice Terminal, which sits deep inside a Snow Biome cave entered at 20.3 Latitude, 62.2 Longitude, and the Artifact of the Void you need for the offering is lying in that same cave at 13.5, 84. Bring it back to the terminal at 6.7, 85.8 with the hearts, sails and claws and the Titan arrives.
Then the awkward part. You cannot tame a Titan you have killed, and every wound you open while stripping its corruption is permanently subtracted from the health of the creature you end up riding. The three corrupted nodes sit on the ankle, the right shoulder and the chest, and our page recommends going after them in that order with a Mek in rocket mode, or with Tek weapons and assault rifles if the Mek ammo bill puts you off. Do too much collateral damage and the Titan dies, which means starting the whole offering over. What you get for the restraint is a mount with a platform saddle and a driving position built into it.
It is not invincible once tamed. Its attention wanders the moment another creature walks past, which is your window to heal, and there is a blind spot down its right side that is safe right up until the right hand comes down on you.
King Titan: the fight that needs the other three first
The King Titan cannot be approached cold. Its terminal wants trophies crafted from the Ice, Forest and Desert Titans, so the other three are a prerequisite rather than an alternative, and our Extinction Titans guide is where the Forest and Desert routes are written up, with cave mouths at 11.8, 39.0 and roughly 87, 70. On top of the trophies the terminal asks for 300 Corrupt Heart, ten Alpha Tyrannosaur Tooth, twenty Titanboa Venom and a Spinosaurus Sail, with a Giganotosaurus Heart added for the Alpha tier. The hearts come off the corrupted wildlife covered in our corrupted creatures guide.
The tiers are strictly sequential. Gamma has to fall before Beta can be summoned, and Beta before Alpha, and each win hands over the trophy that buys the next attempt. Inside, the arena is capped at ten players and twenty creatures between them, and the clock runs sixty minutes. Bring more than twenty tames and the game either refuses to start the event or leaves the surplus behind.
Two details are easy to get wrong. The Mega Mek only works in the Alpha arena, so hauling it to Gamma wastes the build. And when the timer expires, everything still inside is destroyed, whatever it is and whatever state it is in, so the last minutes are for looting the Artifact Pod and leaving rather than for one more swing.
Master Controller: an endgame with no shopping list
Genesis breaks the pattern completely. There is no terminal and no tribute; you talk to HLN-A, pick Gamma, Beta or Alpha, and the only entry requirement is having finished the expansion's objectives. The currency is generated inside the fight.
Four stages, all built on the same loop: kill Corrupted Avatars, walk over the Code-Keys they drop, deposit them. The first two stages want eighty each. The last stage drops the price to forty, and each deposit opens a window in which the Master Controller can actually be hurt, which is why our page advises thinning the mob before you hand the keys over rather than after. Come with area weapons, preferably Tek, and keep moving. Finish it and you leave the simulation with an implant and fifteen levels.
What Extinction expects of you across all four Titans
The Titan rules are shared, and they are unusual enough to be worth learning once. Every summoned Titan arrives at level 1500 and cannot be levelled any further, so the number you finish the taming with is the number you keep. You may only hold one tamed Titan at a time. The tame is on a clock rather than permanent. And in every case the corruption nodes are the target, not the health bar, with the Forest Titan wanting its shoulders destroyed before its chin and the Desert Titan only exposing its back nodes after it throws a lightning strike.
The practical read is that Extinction's bosses are a taming problem wearing a boss fight's clothes, which is why our creature coverage and our boss coverage keep pointing at each other. If you want the wider picture of what Extinction puts on the map, the creatures guide and the locations guide carry the rest, and the wiki hub lays out which map to be standing on.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no Broodmother or Dragon page here?
Those are Island and Valguero arena bosses, and this folder documents them through the artifacts and obelisks that summon them rather than through fight pages. If you are chasing their tribute lists, the artifacts page and the obelisks guide are where the requirements are written down.
Can the Ice Titan be killed instead of tamed?
Yes, and it drops respectable loot for it. The trade is that killing it ends the attempt, and a new one costs the full offering again.
Do I have to beat the lesser Titans to reach the King Titan?
Yes. The terminal is built around their trophies, so the Ice, Forest and Desert Titans are steps on the way rather than optional side content.
