Assassin’s Creed 3 Crafting Recipes Guide – How To Craft Items

Crafting items through recipes has become an integral element for adventure and RPG games lately, and the simple enjoyment and goodies obtained from the art is extremely rewarding.

Crafting in Assassin’s Creed 3 holds an equally robust stature, with criteria and requirements similar to conventions. It expands the bomb-crafting art found in Assassin’s Creed Revelations, and applies that successful formula to a much large range of items.

For more help on Assassin’s Creed 3, read our Outfits, Naval Missions and Almanac Pages Guide.

Homestead and Crafting

The crafting is handled through the accounting book menu, which can be accessed in the study room of your homestead manor. However, this isn’t the only place – thankfully, the homestead is easily accessible to you from just about any general store.

Crafting greatly contributes to your Homestead community, which in turn allows you to get more recipes, more material, and hence more crafting options.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Crafting Recipes

Crafting recipes are found either lying around the map, or can be discovered by hit and trial (randomly mixing different ingredients/items together).

The former is an extremely tedious process for finding desired recipes for specific items, while the latter is easier, but can be costly as the ingredients are lost completely after a failed attempt.

If you’re too lazy to find all the recipes, or don’t want to risk discovering them yourself, then feel free to use this list of craft-able items and their recipes.

This is pissing me off. Every single artisan I have is leveled up to their max, and I have every resource I need, but when I try to craft an item it says i’m missing resources. For ex., if i wanna make bread, I have the innkeeper, eggs, flour, and milk but i’m still “missing resources” HELP!

    • KrazyFace

HELP!!! I’m on Sequence 7, I have most of what Artisans I have on level 3 BUT in the crafting screen they’re all still level 1!!!

I can’t find anything or anyone who knows why but it’s driving me BONKERS!!!

      • D-Money

this may not help, but not every homestead person is an artisan. many of them are just suppliers. the artisans are the innkeepers, the blacksmith, the tailor, the doctor and the woodworker. you dont get to level them up or even find some of them until later sequences. i apologize if you already knew this.

    • Ghost12

It is also cool on how many items you can craft. Does anyone know if you can actually wear the clothes you craft like if you craft the fine clothing, can you wear it

      • D-Money

all foods, clothing, war supplies and medications cannot by used; only sold through convoys at high prices.

    • Anersonal

i´m at seq 9 and all my artisans are lvl just my medic thath is lvl 2

      Where do you get buttons?

    • Przemo

im the only 1 that most of pc keys doesnt work in crafting menu? “CTRL” doesnt work “SPACE” doesnt work i can pick what i want to craft but when it says press SPACE to craft nothing happens like button doesnt work and also i cant exit crafting menu by pressing CTRL i have to alt+f4 and start game again. Any ideas?

      • Przemo

sorry i ment CTRL for clear and BACKSPACE for exit

      • jk

Having the same problem and no apparent solution. Every once in a while the space did work, but it appeared the UI might have been unhappy that I opened crafting but could not craft anything. In any case, it’s stupidly buggy.

      • jk

Exact same thing is happening to me. I did not have materials to craft anything yet and maybe the UI didn’t like it. SPACE let me bounce around between recipes sometimes, but no other buttons worked and couldn’t even exit to animus. Stupidly buggy.

      • abugroza

        welcome aboard mate

      • Cake

The way to stop the keys from glitching up is to use only the keyboard when navigating the menu. If you avoid using the mouse, the interface won’t glitch up.

    • jake

How do I even gain resources?
For example, it says that iron is available, but I still can’t craft recipies, because I lack iron?

      • D-Money

you have to stockpile your resources before crafting with them. you can do this either through pickpocketing the people who would have that item (rich people or non-rich people) or by choosing the stockpile option from the top menu in the accounting book.

    • Rory

I can only seem to be stick with one artiastian (the first woodworker guy) how do I find other artisans..? Cheers

    • gabriel

how do you make more arrows

    • Reow

You missed the Food item that involves Bear Grease, Milk and (I think) Vegetables. Can’t remember what it’s called.

      • D-Money

that would be poutine, a stereotypical Canadian dish/side. fries with gravy and cheese. and now im hungry.

    • Steve

      What are fox flints?

    • Kari

Where the heck do you get flour from?! Thank for the list!

      • Reow

You craft it. When you get the recipe, it will appear under Materials.

    • Jaden

How do I get special iron ingots?

      • Reow

By completing homestead missions for one of the characters. I think it’s Norris, but it might have been Big Dave. Also, once the game is over, there is a chest that looks like a crate half-way up the cliff behind the stable of the homestead (it glows but doesn’t show a chest icon).

        • Jake

You don’t have to complete the game to find the chest

        • Jake

You don’t have to complete the game to find the chest it’s there as you access the homestead

    • Jaden

Jow do I get special iron ingots?

    • Nathan

Please Note, To make dyes, you need Vegatables, Not beeswax

    • Guest

Where can I find sewing threads?

      • keith

sewing threads were actually crafted for me, I didn’t realize I found a recipe and upon looking at what to craft, I came across sewing threads. Now I have big pouches :)

        • nohelp

that didnt answer the question where do you get sewing threads???

          • hawkxflash

            ellen+wool= Sewing threads

once u have made one u can simply buy it from the stockpile

    • ka243

For each crafting recipe, could you please say where to get the specific components required for each one? It would be a lot easier to find out how to specifically get an item we want this way. Thanks.

How do I level up artisans?

      • http://segmentnext.com Zawad Iftikhar

        • jonkow

          • Reow

It’s around then that you can start levelling them up. Don’t worry if you can’t yet, it’s very late-game.

          • Amazazing

Have you looked in Boston and New York and the frontier not all are on the homestead and some are needed before you can do another homestead I have everything done at sequence 11 but I had a lot of it done at sequence 10 look around and you should find more missions
