The Sims 4 Social Media Career: Internet Personality, Public Relations

Social Media forks earlier than most careers, at level 4, and the two halves could hardly be less alike. One turns your Sim into an online celebrity whose job is followers. The other puts them in corporate communications, where the work is managing what other people say. The money is not close, so it is worth knowing which is which before the game offers the choice.

The First Three Ranks

§96 a day is one of the thinner starts in the game, and the first three ranks are shared, so they commit you to nothing.

Internet Personality

Public Relations

The gap is not subtle. Public Relations doubles the Internet Personality wage at the moment of the split and never gives that lead back, and a Spin Doctor earns §1,011 a day more than an Internet Superstar. Our highest paying jobs list puts that Spin Doctor salary inside the game's top ten on a weekly figure of §12,684, for seven hours across four days. Internet Personality is the roleplay choice rather than the earning one.

Skills And Daily Tasks

Three skills carry this career: Charisma, Writing and Mischief. Charisma and Writing do the obvious work on both sides, while Mischief suits the tabloid end of the job in a way the corporate branch politely does not discuss. The daily tasks split with the branches: a public relations Sim is asked to network with journalists, while the personality branch is measured in followers, so the work is posting and building an audience.

That follower requirement is the practical catch of the glamorous branch. Our highest paying jobs guide notes that the public relations route wants maxed Charisma and Writing plus several thousand followers, so neither half of this career is quick.

Which Social Media branch is better?

Public Relations for money, comfortably, at every rank from level 4 onward. Internet Personality is the better fit for a Sim you are playing as a streamer or influencer, and it caps at §2,160 a day.

When does the career split?

At level 4, after Clickbait Writer, which is earlier than most careers in the game and means the decision arrives before you have much of a feel for the job.
