The Sims 4 Culinary Career: Chef Or Mixologist, Every Rank And Wage

Culinary is the career for a Sim who was going to spend their evenings at the stove anyway. Every rank rewards the cooking you would have done for free, and because the skills it wants are the ones that also keep a household fed, it is one of the few jobs where the grind and the housekeeping are the same activity.

The First Five Ranks

Note the §9 raise between the two dishwashing ranks, which is the smallest daily step up any career on our careers guide offers. The career only starts paying properly once the fork is behind you.

The branches trade places twice. Chef leads at ranks 6 and 7, Mixologist edges ahead at 8 and 9, and then Chef finishes §490 a day clear at the top. Over a whole career the cook wins, but a Sim who stops at Drinkmaster is doing better than one who stopped at Executive Chef.

The Skills Behind It

Cooking and Mixology carry the shared ranks, which is why the level 4 job is literally called Mixologist regardless of which branch you eventually take. After the split each side adds one: Gourmet Cooking for the chef, Charisma for the mixologist, who is dealing with customers as much as with drinks.

Both skills train at home. A Sim cooking dinner every evening and mixing drinks at a home bar is doing career preparation, which is not true of, say, the Rocket Science an astronaut needs.
