The Sims 4 Business Career: Management Against Investor, Every Rank

Business is the base game's office job and one of its better paid, and the decision that matters arrives at level 7, when the career splits. Management keeps climbing the corporate ladder toward Business Tycoon. Investor peels off into trading and ends at Angel Investor for slightly more money. The ranks below level 7 are identical either way, so nothing is lost by putting the choice off until the game asks.

The Shared Ladder And Then Management

LevelJob titleDaily pay
1Mailroom Technician§128
2Office Assistant§160
3Assistant to the Manager§184
4Assistant Manager§280
5Regional Manager§424
6Senior Manager§600
7Vice-President§720
8President§1,072
9CEO§1,608
10Business Tycoon§3,000

The Investor Branch

LevelJob titleDaily pay
7Future Trader§896
8Hedge Fund Manager§1,160
9Corporate Raider§1,744
10Angel Investor§3,248

Compare the two columns at the moment of the split and Investor is ahead immediately: §896 against §720 at level 7, and it stays ahead at every rank after it. The gap at the top is §248 a day. Management's argument is not the salary, it is that the daily work is ordinary office work rather than the stock research the trading side expects.

Skills, Traits And The Daily Task

Logic is the skill that carries this career, and the Genius trait is worth taking at creation for exactly that reason, since it speeds a Sim's way up the logic bar. Charisma matters on top, because a business Sim spends a good deal of the week talking to other Sims. The Self Assured trait is the other pick worth making: a confident Sim handles the decisions the job throws up better than a nervous one.

The Investor branch adds research to the routine. Your Sim will want to be at a computer looking at stocks rather than socialising, which is the practical difference between the two paths once the fork is behind you.

Where It Sits Against Everything Else

§3,248 a day puts the Investor branch inside the top ten paying jobs in the game, and our highest paying jobs list ranks it there on a weekly figure of §12,992 for eight hours across four days. That comparison is the useful one, because a career that pays less per day but works more days can beat it over a Sim week.

If you would rather not spend Sim weeks getting there, careers.promote Business moves your Sim up one rank each time it is entered once cheats are enabled, and our career cheats guide has the enabling steps for PC, Mac and both consoles.

Business Career Questions

Which Business branch pays more?

Investor, at every rank from the split onward, finishing at §3,248 a day against Management's §3,000. Management is the choice for a Sim you would rather have socialising than studying the markets.

When do you choose a branch?

At level 7, on promotion out of Senior Manager. Everything before that is shared, so the first six ranks commit you to nothing.

What unlocks along the way?

Business rewards include the ability to invest in stocks from a home computer, which our career items guide lists among the rewards worth having, and it explains how to unlock every career's objects at once. The rest of the roster is on our careers guide.
