Ubisoft skipped Assassin’s Creed last year in the hopes of reinventing the franchise and the amount of work the studio has put in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins shows in the gameplay demos we have seen so far like it’s smart loot system. Now Ubisoft has confirmed Tombs are coming back in Assassin’s Creed Origins.
In the latest issue of OPM, creative director Ashraf Ismail confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Origins will feature tombs that will feature a mix of puzzles and platforming, just like in Assassin’s Creed 2. He added that the tombs will be based on the real life counter parts.
We have quite a few tombs in the game, and they range from being classical puzzles to navigation puzzles and navigation challenges. A lot of them are actually built off of the actual true tombs that we’ve researched.
He revealed that the team consulted with historians about how the ancient tombs were constructed in Egypt to make the tombs feel authentic.
So we put a lot of effort into recreating these tombs. Everything that is actually known we’ve mapped it out, we have images, we have research that’s been done on tombs, we actually try to replicate it as close as possible. So for example, the Greek pyramid, all the chambers, all the corridors are an authentic representation. Now, of course, we have a bit of fun and go a bit further, like, what are the secret chambers that have not been discovered yet?
Also, game director Ashraf Ismail has ensured fans that the game features high-quality optional content. He added that there is a lot of optional content in the game and it is full of surprises.
Assassin’s Creed Origins is an upcoming action RPG in development at Ubisoft and is scheduled to launch on October 27, 2017, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
