Xbox One X FreeSync Display Support Tested, Is It Worth It?

Microsoft has promised the free-sync support for Xbox One S and Xbox One X and currently, Xbox insiders have the access to this feature, however, folks at Digital Foundry have tested the Xbox One X FreeSync display support to see if the free-sync for the Xbox One X is worth it or not?

For those who don’t know, French display support for Xbox One S and Xbox One X will remove the screen tearing during gameplay while allowing to play games at variable framerates.

For the purpose of this testing the monitor used was “Asus VP28U” which is not a perfect monitor to test the Free-sync support on the Xbox One X but, it does the job.

The games used to test the Xbox One X FreeSync display support were Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, The Vanishing of Ethen Carter, Hitman 2016, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy 15 and more. The results of the test vary from game to game which you can check out in the video below.

Speaking of the Xbox One X, a job listing has emerged suggesting that Microsoft is working on the next Xbox that might feature a new type of DRAM and GDDR6 as the main memory.

According to the job listing, Microsoft is considering a new type of DRAM and GDDR6 memory for the next Xbox iteration. According to the listing, the company is looking for a Senior Engineer for DRAM memory solution who will be working alongside the Xbox hardware development team.

Furthermore, according to Collin Moore, the next Xbox might not see a complete hardware upgrade or architectural change but could be iterative one like the iPhone. According to Moore, Sony and Microsoft might follow a formula followed by Apple for its cellphones.
