Single Player Bethesda Games Are Part Of The Company’s DNA Says Pete Hines

Single player Bethesda games are part of the company's DNA according to Pete Hines, even though Fallout 76 might be one of the more anticipated games.

One of the things that Bethesda is best known for is making massively open-world single player games. This is enough that Pete Hines, a big player at the studio, even says that the single player Bethesda games are part of the company’s DNA, even with Fallout 76 coming up sometime soon.

Though Fallout 76 is going to be a multiplayer-exclusive title, Todd Howard has said several weeks ago that Fallout 76 will be the odd man out of the studio’s games, and the next Fallout game will be returning to the wide-open single player worlds that their other games have been.

The studio even focused on single player Bethesda games at its E3 conference, outside of spending a good while on Fallout 76. Along with a new Elder Scrolls game (though we have no idea of where it will take place), they also announced Starfield, a new single-player space game. Several weeks prior to E3, Bethesda also announced Rage 2, another single-player game that is part of an open world.

Adding to those, Doom Eternal, the sequel to the 2016 reboot of the classic first-person shooter, and Wolfenstein: Young Blood, the third entry in that reboot, are also going to be single-player games, both of which had their predecessors be massive successes for their story campaigns in spite of a lack of multiplayer or lackluster multiplayer.

With all of the single player Bethesda games that are going to be coming out, Fallout 76 seems even more like the odd man out among their various other games, but hopefully even if it is just a one-time thing Bethesda will be able to make Fallout 76 a great game that everyone can enjoy.

Fallout 76 will be releasing for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on November 14 of this year. If you’re waiting for something like Doom, Wolfenstein, Elder Scrolls 6, or Starfield or Rage, you’ll have a bit longer to wait.
