Assassin’s Creed Mirage Apparently Delayed

A recent leak has hinted that Assassin's Creed Mirage might be getting a delay despite being slated to release this year.

A known leaker for Ubisoft games has tweeted that Assassin’s Creed: Mirage might be delayed, despite being slated to come out sometime this year. This leaker had previously revealed images from Mirage and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, so he has a reputation for being trustworthy. Whether they’re right, however, is another story.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage was announced back in September of last year, but since then we’ve had essentially no information about it, leading to the concerns that the game might be delayed. There are also hints that The Crew: Motorsport, another Ubisoft game, might also be getting delayed.

Mirage promises to be a return to the old form of Assassin’s Creed game after three different open-world titles, taking place exclusively in the Iraqi city of Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age and focusing around the former street thief Basim as he works his way up the ranks of the Assassins.

However, that’s pretty much all that we know about the game. Ubisoft has only released one trailer, the announcement one, and since then has been quiet about it on social media. If Assassin’s Creed Mirage is going to be delayed after all, it will likely be for a few months, if Ubisoft wants to keep the 2023 release window.

If Ubisoft wants to delay longer for a more polished game, however, we could see Mirage not releasing until 2024. It all depends on what Ubisoft wants. While the game is returning to the previous Assassin’s Creed style of being contained in a single large city, Ubisoft may want to make sure the city can actually still run well.

Whatever the reason, if the reports of a delay happen to come true, Assassin’s Creed fans will likely have to wait a bit longer for the series to return to its roots. Considering Ubisoft yanked itself off of the “yearly release” model when it started taking the series open world, hopefully fans will be patient enough to let them work on the game and really polish it up.
