How to repair weapons in Zelda Breath of the Wild

In BOTW, while you can repair some weapons, there are many base weapons that you cannot repair. Fortunately, the game displays “bad weapons”, as these weapons are on the verge of breaking, so you can plan things accordingly.

As these weapons can’t be repaired, the best use you can make of them before the break is throwing them toward the enemy. No matter what, this will make you lose that weapon permanently, but they were going to break, so why not?

Now, if we talk about the weapons that can be repaired, Master Sword is a special mention in Zelda BOTW. This weapon doesn’t need to be repaired as its high durability never lets it break. Considering its high durability, you should not rely on it entirely, as once used, it takes 10 minutes to recharge. The total recharge then has a durability of 200 hits.

Repairing rusty equipment

In Breath of the Wild, rusty equipment can be repaired, including Rusty Shield, Rusty Halberds, Rusty Claymores, and Swords. Therefore it’s best to keep these weapons for big fights. To repair these weapons, you need to make use of Rock Octoroks.

Rock Octoroks, before attacking the Link inhale the air. So take advantage of it as you throw a rusty sword or anything in its stomach. It will spit out a new, repaired weapon as it inhales that air.

This is the best way to get the Traveler versions of shields or any other weapons, but sometimes it also privileges you with a royal weapon.

How to repair Champion weapons

In Zelda BOTW, you will get different champion weapons on completing different divine beasts. These weapons were used 100 years ago, but they also get damaged after a while. Fortunately, you can get these weapons repaired by an NPC in the hometown of the Champion it belongs to.

The mighty two-handed spear “Lightscale Trident and Ceremonial Trident” that you will get after “The Ceremonial Song” and the “Divine Beast Vah Rutta” can also be repaired. When damaged, take them to Zora Blacksmith, and he will repair them.

You will require five flints and a Zora spear to repair each one of these tridents, so don’t forget to hoard the flints in Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Apart from the aforementioned champion weapon, here is a list of the remaining champion weapons that can be repaired, along with their costs:

Hylan Shield is the best shield in Zelda BOTW. It has a 90 defense rating but can’t be repaired. You can purchase the new Hylan shield for 3000 Rupees once the Hylian shield has been added to Hyrule Castle. You can purchase this replacement from a shop in Tarrey town run by Grante in Zelda Breath of the Wild.
