Lynels are a kind of mini-boss in Legends of Zelda Breath of the Wild. There are many Lynels in the game in different locations. However, in order to complete the Lynel Safari side quest, the one we are going to hunt is the Red-maned Lynel in Zelda Breath of the Wild.
If you are unable to find the Red-maned Lynel or any other Lynel and can’t figure out how to defeat Zelda: Breath of the Wild Lynels, you have come to the right place.

Zelda Breath of the Wild Lynel location
While adventuring through the Zora region of Legend of Zelda BOTW, players will be tasked with a quest that has them collecting shock arrows. During this quest, players will encounter a Lynel, one of the most powerful enemies in the game. You have to hunt Lynel down and kill it.
Before starting the fight, players should speak with Laflat at the eastern exit of the area. Laflat is near the King’s chamber so shouldn’t be hard to find.
Talking to Laflat will start the Lynel Safari side quest in Zelda BOTW which tasks players with taking a picture of the Lynel. In order to safely take the picture without the risk of dying, the best strategy is to take the picture once the enemy has been defeated and before its corpse vanishes.
How to defeat Lynel in Zelda BOTW
When players are ready to fight the Lynel in Zelda BOTW, they can follow the eastern path and head towards the waterfalls to the left. Once players reach the mountain summit, they will see a Lynel and a cutscene will start.
As soon as the cutscene ends, players should change their stance to crouch or the Lynel will see them and start attacking.
In order to survive the fight, players should always keep a shield equipped. In Zelda Breath of the Wild, Lynel will occasionally charge towards the player and they need to time the dodge perfectly.
Following a Perfect Dodge, players can initiate a Flurry Rush to deal damage. Doing this a number of times will cause the Lynel to finally back off.
When at a distance, the Lynel will also use ranged attacks like Shock Arrows or Fireballs. Since his attacks can be difficult to dodge, players should always try to maintain a safe distance.
While at range, you can shoot it with arrows until it falls to the ground for a short while. During this time, players can climb on top of it and attack with melee attacks until the Lynel pushes players off and gets up.
Following this strategy a few times will finally result in the Lynel’s defeat and players can take its picture, loot the area for more items and then head back to Zora Domain to talk to Laflat.
Once they hand Laflat the picture, the Lynel Safari side quest will be completed and players will be rewarded Zora greaves in Zelda BOTW.
