Shadow Of War Dev Working On A New Sci-Fi Title, What Happens To Shadow Franchise?

Monolith Productions is the developer behind the Shadow of Mordor and last year’s Shadow of War. It seems that the studio moving away from the fantasy franchise as the job listing suggests that Shadow of War dev is working on a Sci-Fi title.

According to the job listing, the studio is looking for “an experienced and highly skilled writer”. The writer will join the narrative team and will “contribute to the development of our next project”.

The listing is asking for an individual who “posses a deep literacy in games, film, literature, and television, and a love of fantasy and science fiction games”.

This indicates that the future of the Shadow series might be in danger. Shadow of War dev is clearly looking to develop a Sci-Fi game.

However, take it with a grain of salt until Monolith confirms it. But, it will be interesting to see what the studio brings in the sci-fi genre.

Shadow of War launched last year and was criticized for having microtransactions despite being a single-player game. Monolith removed these microtransactions earlier this year.

According to the studio, microtransactions didn’t allow the team to fulfill their vision for the game. Not only that, devs also rebalanced the game accordingly following the removal of microtransactions.

It allows you to miss out on the awesome player stories you would have otherwise created, and it compromises those same stories even if you don’t buy anything. Simply being aware that they are available for purchase reduces the immersion in the world and takes away from the challenge of building your personal army and your fortresses

Speaking of fantasy titles, recently a trailer for Harry Potter RPG leaked online. The trailer showcased character creation screen, combat, spells, Hogwarts itself and more.

The trailer was quickly taken down, cementing the fact that a new Harry Potter RPG is in the works. However, speculations started to make rounds suggesting that Rocksteady is working on the game.

Warner Bros is yet to reveal the game along with the developer working on the Harry Potter RPG. According to report, Avalanche Studios is working on the RPG.
