True 4K/60 FPS Isn’t “Necessarily A Standard” For PlayStation 5 And Next-Xbox

While it hasn’t been a full year following the launch of Xbox One X but, Microsoft is already working on next-Xbox and there has been a talk of the PlayStation 5 on the internet.

Not only that, both Microsoft and Sony have been pushing for true 4K gaming, however, some devs don’t agree that true 4K gaming should be a standard for next-gen consoles.

Speaking with Gamingbolt, Stian Willums talked about next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony Interactive Entertainment.

He noted that devs don’t have many expectations for next-gen consoles, like the PlayStation 5, to support true 4K gaming.

He added that PlayStation 5 and the next-Xbox will definitely feature more power that will allow developers to renders realistic visuals for video games along with other features.

We don’t have too many expectations. But some thoughts are that they’re obviously going to be more powerful and support better graphics, but also be more intractable and easier to share whatever you do and play with others, [and] the social [features].

When asked about if PlayStation 5 and the next-Xbox will prioritize true 4K/60 FPS he replied that it won’t be a standard for next-gen consoles and if it is then it is not something that should be taken for granted.

Might as well be, everybody wants the best visuals they can get, but it’s not necessarily a standard people should take for granted. I know many who would be satisfied with whatever they can get with what they have as well.

Speaking of PS5, the upcoming console might be using the Ryzen processor.

Sony’s compiler expert Simon Pilgrim is apparently working on AMD Ryzen “znver1” microarchitecture support and interestingly no Sony product uses the Ryzen CPU which indicates that PlayStation 5 will make use of the Ryzen CPU.

Do you think next-gen consoles should focus on true 4K gaming or just focus on better visuals and frame rates? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
