From Software isn’t resting on its laurels very much after the amazing release of Dark Souls 3. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne, gave a lot of information out to the Taiwanese website GNN, including a new From Software IP.
While Dark Souls 3 is unquestionably the last Dark Souls game, Miyazaki gave out a lot of information about the games, such as From working on two new DLCs. However, we don’t really know what the titles of any of them are, not only with the Dark Souls 3 DLCs but also the new IP.
Bloodborne, the last new From Software IP that was released in March last year, proved to be a highly anticipated, critically acclaimed game that had a lot of anticipation building up on it before it was officially announced at E3 2014, under the rumors of a game called “Project Beast.”
Miyazaki has also discussed the prospect of a return to Demon’s Souls, the RPG that put From Software on the map with its difficulty. Considering From has found a much better work in Dark Souls and Bloodborne, we can expect more RPGs like them in the future, though whether From can top itself in that regard is something that remains to be seen.
Either way, we’ll most likely be finding about the new From Software IP at an E3 at some point in the future (possibly 2017’s) but until then we’ll just have to speculate. It could be a new Souls-like game or a fantasy game like King’s Field (where From got its Moonlight Greatsword weapon from), or it could go completely off the rails and end up being something like Metal Wolf Chaos. It might even be a sequel to Bloodborne.
Either way, we can at least trust that whatever From Software decides to put out as a new IP we can be assured that it’ll be a very polished and amazing game.
