Monster Hunter World On Switch Apparently Won’t Be Happening For Now

There's no guarantee of a version of Monster Hunter World on Switch, as Capcom has said they're currently focusing on the current versions.

A version of Monster Hunter World on Switch is apparently not going to be forthcoming, according to Capcom. The company apparently wants to focus on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions for the time being, and says there isn’t much room to say anything about a Switch version of the game.

According to one of the game’s directors, Kaname Fujioka, the company wants to make the game the best that they can for the hardware that they originally intended. That means that for now Capcom can’t add more resources to a version of Monster Hunter World on Switch. However, there’s nothing that says that after the game releases on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 that they can’t start working on a port.

More recent Monster Hunter games (as in the last five years) have been making their way onto various other platforms, such as the Nintendo 3DS with Monster Hunter Generations and Monster Hunter 4. The jump from just the Playstation 4 to the Xbox One is another big jump that the series will be making, and hopefully it’s successful enough to keep Monster Hunter games multi-platform.

However, there’s also the possibility that if there is a version of Monster Hunter World on Switch, that Nintendo might have to cut things out. Despite the existence of massive games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Nintendo Switch has often had to have things cut from ports on it, such as removing the story mode of FIFA 18 when it got ported.

Whether this will happen with Monster Hunter World if it gets ported over to the Switch remains to be seen, but until then be on the lookout for when Monster Hunter World hits the Xbox One and Playstation 4 on January 26 of next year, and on PC platforms sometime later.
