Microsoft has now confirmed that its E3 press conference will be held on June 9, 2019. The press conference will start on Sunday at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET before the expo begins. As always, the press conference will be streamed live via Xbox’s official Mixer channel, Youtube, Twitch, and Facebook.
At the event, Microsoft is expected to talk in-depth about previously revealed games, upcoming projects, and show trailers of titles that are scheduled to arrive in 2019. Microsoft’s Major Nelson has also confirmed that this year’s press conference is the company’s “biggest E3 presence ever”.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has made it clear on Twitter that this year’s E3 is very special to the computer giant and it’s going to be very interesting. Microsoft’s newly acquired studios including Undead Labs, Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, Compulsion Games, and Playground Games will also have something to show.
Here’s what Spencer said about E3 during the latest episode of Inside Xbox:
We’re the only platform holder with a live stage show, and I feel some responsibility for that and want to represent gaming. Our new studios are going to have things to show, some of which nobody has ever seen before.
With Sony out of E3, Spencer has already confirmed that they will go big at E3 as they are not holding back.
There was some news about E3 back in the fall. We had a discussion internally about, ‘Should we go big?’ ‘Should we save some money?’ ‘What does that mean?’ We decided, no [we’re not going to save money], we’re going to do our thing. We’re going to go and be as big at E3 as we’ve ever been. I love that opportunity
Spencer has teased that they are going to talk about the future of Xbox at the event. As revealed before, the company has multiple Xbox systems in development (rumored to be Anaconda or Scarlett). We are also likely to hear about Microsoft’s Project xCloud at the event which now has a competitor in the form of Google’s Stadia.
We are also going to get an exclusive look at upcoming Xbox titles like Halo 5 and Gears 5. There’s plenty of reasons to watch the press conference live.
Personally, I’m looking forward to know about Xbox Anaconda at the event since Sony has already confirmed the PlayStation 5. That’s because Microsoft will be taking full advantage of E3’s live press conference to convince gamers into buying its next-gen console. With that said, we might also get our first look at Microsoft’s next-gen console because why not.
