Besides squad mates, Mass Effect Andromeda offers players numerous characters which can be romanced, including Avela Kjar. Avela is an Angaran historian who players meet when they first visit Aya; and in this guide, we will help you woo them.

First Conversation
Avela can only be romanced by male Ryder and the romance options start appearing from the very first conversation players have with her on Aya. To meet her, players need to visit Evfra and then make their way down to the dock to find Avela. At this point, she offers Ryder several different quests, completing which will unlock different layers of the relationship.
To start off the romance, players should select the “To meet people like you” dialogue choice when talking to Avela on the docks. The second opportunity to advance the relationship comes during Recovering the Past mission. Players need to go to the museum on Aya and then talk to Avela there.
Flirting
The third trigger to advance the relationship is during Forgotten History mission and players will once again need to go to the museum on Aya and chat with Avela Kjar. While talking to her, players need to make sure they select all the following dialogue choices:
- I did it for you
- You got it
- Not everything, thanks to you (This is possible after returning the instrument)
- Hope it helps my chances (After players return the figurine)
If players fail to select any of these dialogue choices, they will not be able to advance further in the relationship and will fail the chance to romance Avela. If successful, the next chance to romance her would be during Journey to Meridian when players will get an email from her.
After reading the email, players need to head to the waterfall on Aya, speak to Avela and then choose the option to go for a second kiss thus culminating the small fling with her.
