How to Perform Mercy in Mortal Kombat 11 – Not Dead Yet Guide

There’s a new Finisher in MKXI alongside the iconic Fatalities and Brutalities of Mortal Kombat. Learn all about the new feature, Mercy, in Mortal Kombat 11 like how to trigger it and how does it exactly work.

Perform a Mercy in Mortal Kombat 11

In the earlier installments of Mortal Kombat franchise (except for MK3), you could only show your supremacy and dominance at the end of the round via a Fatality or a Brutality.

While that’s still an option, there’s a new finisher that lets you be a bit more humane. The Mercy Finisher allows your opponent to retrieve around 15% of their health as to give them a second chance at the fight.

Although this can be used honorably as to test your enemy’s true strengths, there’s no doubting most would use this feature to make their opponents even more humiliated than the standard Fatality.

With that said, here are a few reasons you should use Mercy at the end of the round:

  • You can earn the “Not Dead Yet” Trophy/Achievements by performing Mercy 10 times whether against online opponents or versus CPU in offline modes.
  • Performing Mercy 10 times will also reward you with Soul of the One Being orb which is one of the crucial items you’ll be using in your Krypt progress.
  • On its own, Mercy will only reward you with 15k points. However, since you can defeat your enemy again and perform another finisher, you can combine those points for a higher overall score.
  • It’s good to sometimes show your good side!

How to Perform Mercy in MK11

Before we describe how to perform a Mercy, you should know the rules around the feature. Firstly, you cannot perform this finisher twice.

Therefore, say you perform Mercy and then defeat your opponent to put them back in the “Finish Him” state; you can only perform a Fatality or Brutality at this point.

Secondly, you need to keep your distance from the opponent in order to execute Mercy. This essentially means you need to be mid-screen away from your opponent when inputting the commands for Mercy.

The way of doing it is to perform the following functions:

Hold L2/LT and press down three times quickly. Then release the trigger.

If you input the commands correctly, you’ll see a golden light shine across the screen along with the words “Mercy”. You perform a small taunt automatically before your opponent returns to fight.

Make it worthwhile! The last thing you’d want is to lose by giving your foe another chance!
