God of War Freya’s Cave, Sanctuary and Helheim Walkthrough

During this chapter of the quest, you will be attempting to get as many resources as you can from Freya’s house. Since you will now be with Atreus and will have access to his Shock Arrows, there will be many different areas that you can access and many different goodies that you can unlock for yourself.

Let’s go ahead and see precisely what it is that you need to find in this area and whether or not it is imperative to the story. After that, you can move on to the next chapter and have the actual fighting begin.

Freya’s Cave

At the beginning of the chapter, you will have the option to explore the entire cave once again. This may seem like a waste of time, but the fact is that you have new tools at your disposal and that could be used to get your hands on a lot of new gear.

Of course, this entire section is optional so you can decide to skip ahead if you only want to get to the end of the story and are not interested in all of the shiny loot.

As for the items that you can find in here, you can read up on all of them in our various different God of War Guides. You can find a cipher chest, a chest, a coffin, a Legendary Chest, and a Mystic Gateway among many other pieces of loot.

Once you have collected all of the loot that is available in the cave, you will be ready to move onto the Sanctuary.

Freya’s Sanctuary

You will remember that when you visited this place earlier on in the Journey, there was a Nornir Chest that we were unable to open. Well, now you can. Move over to the Nornir Chest. It can be located by moving down from the top of the well and going past Freya’s house to the stone tower.

Here, you will have to use your newly acquired wind powers to transfer the Winds of Hel from the trap up high on the tower to the trap on the other side of the tower.

Then, go to the upper plateau and go to the Nornir Chest while transferring the wind. Keep on transferring the wind from the traps. Towards the end, you will come upon a spinning trap which will rotate the runes as long as the trap has the wind to power it.

Once you have the wind in the trap above the Nornir Chest, you will be able to see the runes which need to be displayed on the ledge. The shape of all of the runes is the same but the direction that they are pointing in changes.

From here, carry the winds of Hel back to the trap on the ledge and use your Leviathan Axe to change the spinner panels and display the runes as they were displayed on the Nornir Chest.

Capture the Winds when you have the perfect rune and run back to the Nornir Chest before your 10 seconds run out. If you manage to get there in time, you will be able to sling the energy into the trap over the chest and will be able to open the Nornir Chest.

From here on, return to the well and get back down into the cave. Slowly make your way to your boat and decide whether or not you want to go to Helheim with Atreus.

Helheim

The next part of the story is sort of already underway. However, that does not mean that you cannot go off the path and take a trip to Helheim to get your hands on some of the gear that is to be found over there. If you do decide to go to Helheim, remember that you can find an Artifact, a Chest, a Coffin, a Legendary Chest and a Raven in there.

As you would expect, all of the aforementioned collectibles are already available in our other God of War guides and you can find them with ease if you want to. You will be able to collect all of the Brooches that you have missed in the area right now since you have all of the gear that you could possibly need.

Helheim is a cold and unforgiving place, and Atreus will soon start to yearn for the warm climate of Midgard. Once you are done with everything that you need to do on Hel, use the Realm Travel Room to return to Midgard and continue on the main story path.

That is all we have for our God of War Freya’s Cave, Sanctuary and Helheim Walkthrough Guide. Let us know if we missed something using the comments section below!
