Fortnite CrossPlay For PS4 Players Still Not Happening

Sony Cheif Executive believes that PlayStation 4 is the best gaming experiene one can have hence their is no need for Fortnite Crossplay.

Sony is completely certain that the best gaming experience is indeed given on its console. The demanded Fortnite crossplay feature has yet again been put down by PlayStation 4 creators. Fortnite crossplay has been continuously wanted by players of the battle royale game but as Sony not been impressed by the reasons for it ever since.

The basic argument put forward by Sony is that players are able to have the ultimate gaming on PS4 so they don’t need to turn to other consoles to make their experiences whole.

The even more frustrating thing about Sony’s strict policy about Fortnite crossplay for the user-base was not being able to switch user accounts.

Xbox and PC users have this option.

Fans even got to the point where petitions were launched online for Sony to allow Fortnite crossplay. On the other hand, Sony faced the backlash with a resolute stance. Sony’s Chief Executive, Kenichiro Yoshida established that they cannot afford to compromise on their standpoint on PS4 being the best gaming console. He recently spoke on Fortnite crossplay in Berlin at the IFA technology show:

On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that’s our belief

But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform.

The battle royale game has gathered a huge user-base of 125 million players becoming a gaming phenomenon in the process. This broad player-base is wanting an even more interconnected gaming experience but other console developing companies can’t do anything other than blaming Sony for preventing Fortnite crossplay.

While acknowledging the abilities of rival companies in the gaming industry, Yoshida stated:

I think competition is always good. Healthy, fair competition is always good for the industry and growth, I think competition with Nintendo and Xbox is a healthy situation.

Yoshida further commented on the future of PlayStation VR, which has sold 3 million units so far:

Virtual reality is a completely unique experience and still evolving, VR is still in the very early stage and one potential evolution of VR is a mixed reality. One of the issues with VR is that you can’t see outside, it’s a little bit dangerous – you have to sit down to use it. Also, (there also comes the issue of) VR motion sickness. So there is a lot of room of room to improve in VR experiences and you will see the change and the improvement.

It looks like Sony won’t be allowing crossplay any time soon.
