Microsoft Flight Simulator XO19 Demo Ran On GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GPU

The Microsoft Flight Simulator Demo during XO19 was running on a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GPU and 32GB of RAM. Is that anywhere close to its system requirements?

Microsoft Flight Simulator is arguably one of the most aspiring projects recently and its demo during XO19 proves it. Not only is its concept intriguing, including satellite imagery to make it more realistic, but its build is also rather impressive. According to a player checking out the demo during Microsoft’s presentation, it needs 32GB of available RAM and a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to run perfectly. That’s of course what Microsoft used to show the game at its brightest.

Making a game as realistic and as vibrant as Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn’t come easy. The standards of gaming, especially in terms of simulation, have risen drastically. As a result, the company has to come up with a powerful enough hardware setup to show off its visual supremacy. One Reddit user who was lucky enough to try out the Microsoft Flight Simulator demo during XO19 was diligent enough to check out the specifications of its PC build and the outcome is impressive. According to his post, the game was running on a computer with a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GPU, 32 GB RAM, and an Intel Core i7 processor, presumably a 9700k.

Even though the build sounds rather terrifying, we are not sure that this is even close to what the system requirements for Microsoft Flight Simulator will be. Given the fact that it includes uber-realistic imagery of earth, we’d expect it to be “power-hungry” but an 11GB graphics card looks like a big stretch.

Let alone the 32BG RAM installment. However, we’d love to see the game shine under a high-end setup than make it suffer due to poor specifications.

Interestingly, the concept of Microsoft Flight Simulator goes well beyond what we knew was possible with simulation games. The project’s head Jorg Neumann has told PCGamesN that they could add the Amazonian fires and terraform the areas depending on real-life events now. To be able to get a completely realistic view of the earth in any game though, we should wait another 5 years for location technology to keep up, according to him.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is expected to release on PC and Xbox One sometime in 2020.
