As the name suggests, these side quests basically require you track down a monster and hunt it down. These side quests are triggered by speaking with ‘tipsters’ who are the owners of various restaurants, eateries, and diners in the game’s world.
It is important to note that you can only actively track one hunt at any given time, but once completed, the hunt can be turned in at any tipster. Every hunt in the game has a recommended Character Level which is something you should pay attention to.

Final Fantasy XV Hunts Locations Guide
As a general rule of thumb, you should always go for a hunt whose recommended Character Level is equivalent to you. As you continue to complete hunts, you gain Hunter Rank which rewards you and unlocks tougher hunts.

Hunter Rank
Everyone starts at Hunter Rank 1 which increases with the amount of hunts completed. Each hunt in the game rewards players with a specific number of stars which increase the Hunter Rank.
Achieving a higher Hunter Rank is not only required to gain access to high-level hunts, but also provides one-time rewards. The list below outlines all Hunter Ranks, required stars, and one-time rewards.

This hunt requires Character Level 5, is found in Hammerhead, requires you hunt down Mesmenir x5, and rewards you with 980 Gil, ,1 Hi-Elixir, and 1 Star.
Gorgers in the Dust
This hunt requires Character Level 7, is found in Hammerhead, requires you hunt down Flexitusk x3, and rewards you with 1,570 Gil, 1 Iron Bangle, and 1 Star.

This hunt requires Character Level 15, is found in Hammerhead, requires you hunt down Jumbo Flan x1, 2,390 Gil, 1 Megalixir, and 2 Stars.

This hunt requires Character Level 22, is found in Hammerhead, requires you hunt down Anaklaban x3 and rewards you with 3,350 Gil, 1 Megalixir, and 2 Stars.

This hunt requires Character Level 7, is found in Longwythe Rest Area, requires you hunt down Goblins x7 and rewards you with 1,740 Gil, 1 Hi-Elixir, and 1 Star.
The Hunter Slaying Herd
This hunt requires Character Level 8, is found in Longwythe Rest Area, requires you hunt down Magnanir x2, Mesmenir x4 and rewards you with 1,830 Gil, 1 Hi-Elixir, and 1 Star.
Squash the Squirmers
This hunt requires Character Level 14, is found in Longwythe Rest Area, requires you hunt down Flan x5 and rewards you with 2,280 Gil, 1 Hi-Elixir, and 2 Stars.

Hunting Tips and Strategies
In this section of the guide, I have provided some general tips and strategies which you can effectively apply to all operations.
- Try to use Astrals for the toughest enemies
- Always have healing items i.e. healing potions, antidotes
- Always rest and have meals for stat boosts before a hunt
- Use Finishers as much as you can to cut off appendages, stagger, etc.
- Magic is incredibly powerful in FFXV, craft powerful spells to get rid of hunts
- You should always go for a hunt which is equivalent or a tad above your Character Level
- Use element-imbued weapons and Ignis’ Enhancement to take advantage of weaknesses
- Before a battle starts, stay outside the battle boundary to fill the tech bar and then start the battle
- Make sure to use CC to clear out group of enemies using Greatsword AOE or various AOE spells
