Cyberpunk 2077: Big Pete’s Got Big Problems Walkthrough

Help solve some unfinished business for Dakota Smith.

A mechanic working for the Raffen Shiv just arrived in Badlands and Dakota Smith wants him gone. Work with Dakota Smith to get rid of the mechanic in the Big Pete’s Got Big Problems gig in Cyberpunk 2077.

Gigs are side activities that help V get a hold of eddies, street cred as well as rare items for upgrades. They range from helping out a fellow companion to taking up guns for hire such as the Cyberpunk 2077 Big Pete’s Got Big Problems.

In this guide, we’ll take a look at how to unlock and complete the Big Pete’s Got Big Problems in Cyberpunk 2077.

How to unlock and start “Big Pete’s Got Big Problems”

Once your Street Cred hits level 5, wait for Dakota Smith to contact you. She will ask you for a hitman, which will start Big Pete’s Got Big Problems in Cyberpunk 2077.

Take up the gig and reach the southern part of Badlands to begin the side quest. The location is shown in the map below.

You can find Big Pete at this map location in Cyberpunk 2077.

How to complete Big Pete’s Got Big Problems in Cyberpunk 2077

Use your waypoint and travel to the New American Autoworks garage in the southern part of Badlands. The garage is heavily protected by 2 turrets, 9 Raffen Shiv members, and a few security cameras.

There are now two ways to complete Big Pete’s Got Big Problems in Cyberpunk 2077. You can either take out the guards in stealth or go in guns blazing. Whichever way you decide, your next objective will be to locate Big Pete himself after you are done with the outside security.

Big Pete can be found in the basement under the garage which can be accessed by heading into the garage and looking for a door on the left side right next to a vending machine. Open the door and confront Big Pete.

A common bug that many players have faced in Big Pete’s Got Big Problems is Pete not spawning in the basement. It is recommended to manually save your game before you head into the basement to save you from this issue.

Big Pete’s Got Big Problems choices and consequences

Big Pete will immediately start begging for mercy and realize that V is the one who saved his brother. You will have three options to deal with Big Pete.

You can either kill or spare him. The third option sees you sparring him as well but by taking a bribe that gets you twice as much as Dakota offered at the start of the mission.

Choosing from any of the three choices will have no effect on your side gig. The only difference will be how much money you walk out with.

How to deal with Big Pete in Cyberpunk 2077?

If you choose the first choice, you’ll wind up shooting Big Pete and the contract will be closed.

The second option lets you spare Big Pete’s life and in return, you don’t take a bribe from him. Dakota will contact you and be a bit surprised but the mission will be completed nonetheless.

The third option is the best one yet as it works well for both parties in the instance that V gets paid a total of $5410 Eddies and Big Pete gets to live. Taking up the bribe also cancels the contract with Dakota as Big Pete won’t scam people anymore.

Many players have reported that if you go in guns blazing and appear hostile to Big Pete, he’ll directly attack you and the dialogues won’t be prompted resulting in killing Big Pete. A fix to that is to make sure not to initiate combat while approaching Big Pete.

Should you kill Big Pete or not in Cyberpunk 2077?

Killing Big Pete has no effect on either the mission or your story ending in Cyberpunk 2077. We recommend not killing him so that you can take his bribe for some extra money.

However, if you are role-playing, Dakota will be fairly impressed if you do choose to kill Big Pete. If you spare him, she will seem both surprised and disappointed as she expected you to be “tough as nails.”

Once Big Pete’s dealt with, exit the yellow circle emitted on your map and wait for Dakota to call you to complete the Big Pete’s Got Big Problems gig in Cyberpunk 2077.
