Crystal Dynamics: Microsoft Has Been Great Partners For Rise Of The Tomb Raider

Crystal Dynamics’ Chris Johnston Microsoft has been a great partner for Rise Of The Tomb Raider, and they helped them to realize their vision for the game.

Back in 2013 Crystal Dynamics rebooted Tomb Raider franchise with Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and since then the franchise has been growing. While the reboot was released for all platforms simultaneously, its sequel, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, was timed exclusive for Xbox One in 2015.

While the game has released for PlayStation 4 and PC, there is no doubt that Microsoft played an important role in creating Rise Of The Tomb Raider. Now Crystal Dynamics has opened up about their partnership with Microsoft, and how the company helped the developers to realize their vision.

Speaking with We Write Things, Crystal Dynamics’ Chris Johnston said that Microsoft helped them to make the game they really wanted to make, and they are great partners.

[Microsoft] helped us realize our vision of Tomb Raider and the game we wanted to build. They are great partners to work with. We have a long history of working with Microsoft and we were able to deliver a great game that we’re really proud of.

Yeah I think it helped with general awareness and like I said Microsoft has been great partners with us. They helped us realize our vision of the game we wanted to create.

Crystal Dynamics is not the only developing studio that has praised Microsoft as a great partner. As Platinum Game’s Hideki Kamiya said that partnership with Microsoft has been interesting, with the amount of resources they can make available for a big vision is impressive.

Speaking of partnerships, Hideo Kojima has partnered with Sony for his upcoming game, Death Stranding. Recently Kojima admitted in an interview that the reason why he partnered with Sony was because Sony offered him their trust.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration edition is now available for PlayStation 4 along with  new content and VR support.
