CD Projekt RED Profits Totaled $33 Million In The First Half Of 2017

CD Projekt RED profits totaled over $33 million in the first half of 2017, meaning that the Polish studio responsible for the Witcher series is still raking in the dough, especially with their release of the new Gwent card game earlier this year. The studio is now worth over $2.2 billion.

Most of this money undoubtedly came from the games that CD Projekt RED is most known for, the Witcher trilogy, based on the book series by Andrezj Sapkowski. With the critical acclaim the series has gotten, along with the wild success (heh) of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED is currently not only worth over two billion dollars, but is also sitting on over $200 million in cash.

If that doesn’t seem like that much to you, take into account that in local money that is 796 million Polish złoty. Good Old Games, where their games are heavily promoted (and is also the main place where you can download the Gwent card game on PC) is responsible for around 3.5 million of that 33 million dollars.

When it comes to the general area of their profits, 97% of the CD Projekt RED profits have come from exported media. 60% of those profits come from various clients in the United States, while the other 37% is from Europe itself.

Considering that the Witcher series has made CD Projekt RED one of the biggest names in gaming, their next work, Cyberpunk 2077, is likely going to generate even more CD Projekt RED profits, especially since it’s a new property that they’ve been building up anticipation for for a very long time.

Hopefully we’ll get more information about Cyberpunk 2077 soon, but in the meantime, if you want to loose a few hundred hours then go pick up the Witcher series (preferably on PC since the original game isn’t available on consoles), or go play a few games of Gwent.
