When Is Apex Legends Coming To Nintendo Switch? Respawn’s Project Lead Has the Answer

Will Apex Legends come to Nintendo Switch? Respawn Entertainment's Drew McCoy says that while there are no current plans, you can never say never.

In a recent interview with Wired, Respawn Entertainment’s Project lead Drew McCoy said that the studio is working on “a lot of things” right now and there is nothing to announce yet about a Switch port of Apex Legends.

Nintendo Switch fans have been practically begging Respawn Entertainment to make a Switch port of the hit Battle Royale game Apex Legends for quite a while now. Although Respawn is aware of the interest among fans, they say the studio is not ready to announce anything yet.

“If [Apex Legends for] Switch was coming, we would tell you, and we would blast it across the world. We are hearing all the Switch players who say they want the game,” he said. “I can’t make any promises right now. We have a lot of things that we’re working on, so stay tuned for anything in the future. But currently, we don’t have anything to announce.”

The wording McCoy used is very interesting. Although he says he can’t make any promises right now, he doesn’t deny that the studio won’t ever work on an Apex Legends Switch port in the future. In fact, his statement kind of works as an assurance to all Switch players that keep your fingers crossed and “stay tuned for the future”.

There is a huge player base behind the Switch alone. Apex Legends is doing quite well in the Battle Royale market at the moment with reaching over 500 million players. A Switch port for the game is a huge opportunity for both Respawn and EA.

But then again, Apex Legends isn’t the only game on Switch. Of course, there is Epic Game’s Fortnite, which seems to be doing quite well on all platforms, including the Switch.

A lot of companies are recognizing the potential of Switch, its portability allows players to access games and services on the go. It is a huge opportunity for publishers to cash in on. Just quite recently The Walt Disney Company announced that its new streaming service “Disney+” will be coming to consoles including the Nintendo Switch.

Although there are no announcements for Apex Legends coming to the Nintendo Switch right now, McCoy says “so stay tuned for anything in the future”.

Apex Legends is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
