Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Puts You in a Dark and Violent Place, Says CD Projekt RED

Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t have a release date yet but thanks to CD Projekt RED who keeps us excited with gameplay and story details every now and then. CD Projekt RED has shared a lot lately about the game and revealed that it’ll take you to a very dark place.

Stanis Swiecicki who’s a writer at CD Projekt RED talked about the game and its darker experiences with GamesMaster Magazine.

We’re putting all our narrative firepower into allowing gamers to experience their story, one in which their decisions will shape who their character really is. It goes without question, though, that the dystopian future we’re putting you in is a dark and violent place. Being in control of who you are and having it stay that way is what matters most. You’re never trying to save the world, it’s always about saving yourself.

In short, he says that the game offers a much darker experience than everyone is expecting it to be. You will be trying to save yourself rather than saving the world in the Night City so come prepared.

Cyberpunk 2077 consists of a lengthy story alongside with many side missions. Similar to what we saw in The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 side missions are going to have an impact on the main storyline.

Side quests are great opportunities for us to tell stories of our cyberpunk world. After all, despite not being a part of the main questline, they are still connected to the world and can elaborate on certain parts of it, like the characters.

CD Projekt Red has also confirmed that they will not pad out gameplay to extend playtime. Now that’s what they are exactly known for. They avoid repetition and bring unique experiences which is why The Witcher 3 turned out to be a huge success. It’s now time for them to do it once again with Cyberpunk.

Game’s Lead Designer, Miles Tost also talked about downgrade which happened to be the case with Witcher 3. Though he has now guaranteed that it’s not going to be the case.

There will be a lot of changes now and when the game launches but they assure that they will not release something they are not happy with.
