Pillars Of Eternity 2 Launch Trailer Released As Game Hits Wider Internet

The Pillars of Eternity 2 launch trailer has been released now that the game’s release date has finally arrived. The game is the sequel to Obsidian Entertainment’s breakout RPG hit Pillars of Eternity, which originally released on the PC back in 2015. Pillars of Eternity 2 promises a lot more gameplay as well.

Players in the Pillars of Eternity games take on the role of a being known as a Watcher, someone who can peer into the souls of others and see the memories of their previous lives (as the series’s afterlife is cyclical, with people reincarnating into different bodies after death). After stopping a plague in the nation of Dyrwood that was causing children to be born without souls, players are thrust into a new adventure.

Eothas, the god of light and rebirth that was originally thought to be dead, has returned to life in the form of a massive statue underneath the player’s stronghold of Caed Nua. Now, players must hunt Eothas down to the Deadfire Archipelago aboard a ship in order to find out answers. The game’s story will also be influenced by choices made in the previous Pillars of Eternity game.

The Pillars of Eternity 2 launch trailer gives us a pretty good look at the game, including the locations we’ll be visiting, the party members we’ll be taking along (which includes Eder and Aloth from the first game), and some more of the strategic gameplay that was pioneered in the first game.

Obsidian has been busy in the years since the first Pillars of Eternity game came out, releasing the RPG Tyranny back in 2016), so them finally being able to release Pillars of Eternity 2 is likely a good breath of fresh air for the studio…at least until they get down to patching problems and developing DLC.

You can watch the Pillars of Eternity 2 launch trailer further up the article, and can pick it up now on PC, and will be coming to the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
