You Will Likely See More PlayStation 4 Remasters, Says Sony

PlayStation 4 will likely get more remasters in the future, according to SCEE boss Jim Ryan.

This generation we have seen plenty of games that were a blast-from-the-past. PlayStation 3 games were brought to PlayStation 4, while Xbox 360 titles got remastered for Xbox One.

The most recent example is the God of War III for PS4, and the upcoming Gears of War Ultimate Edition for Xbox One. Microsoft and Sony look pretty satisfied with bringing remasters to current-gen platforms, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more.

We don’t yet know much about Microsoft’s future plans for remasters, but Sony says PS4 will likely get more. Speaking at Gamescom, SCEE boss Jim Ryan said:

We know that there are lots of PS4 owners that have either never played games before or used to have an Xbox or a Nintendo who have never had the chance to play something like the Uncharted trilogy. But it has to be a great game if we’re going to go to the trouble of re-mastering. I can’t talk specifically, but I think that it’s very likely that there’ll be more.

I agree with Ryan on many PS4 users coming from Nintendo or Xbox platforms. However, in order to keep them loyal to the brand Sony should invest more in first-party stuff, rather than remasters.

Do you think Sony should release more remasters for PS4? If so, which games would you like to see?
