Xbox One Sales Numbers Make It The Worst Selling Console In Japan For 2018

Xbox One sales numbers from Japan are in and it is clear that Microsoft has lost the battle to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Xbox One has struggled to in the land of the rising sun, Japan. Since its release 4 years ago, the console has failed tremendously in Japan. As a result, every year, it is among the worst selling gaming hardware in the country. The gaming console from Microsoft is the worst selling gaming hardware in Japan for 2018, according to the recent sales numbers.

Microsoft managed to sell only 15,339 Xbox One units throughout the year. Since its release back in 2014, total Xbox One sales in Japan stand at 102,931.  The latest Xbox One sales numbers truly paint the picture of Microsoft’s current state in Japan. Will the next Xbox change things? Well, it’s hard to say since games are what sell consoles and not empty PR words.

Microsoft’s first-party exclusive line up has been the pinnacle of mediocrity this console generation. Games like Crackdown 3, Quantum Break, ReCore, and others didn’t manage to be commercially or critically successful.

As a result, the sales numbers for the Xbox One itself drop across the board. While it did manage to win second place in the West, Japan hasn’t been too kind to Microsoft’s gaming console.
