Rumor: Official Xbox Scarlett Dev Kits Will Be Available After GDC 2019

Today we might be looking at the confirmed specs of Next Xbox which includes the use of AMD Chips, Raytracing and many more.

Today is a great day as we might be possibly looking at the confirmed specs of Xbox Scarlett aka Next Xbox. It’s not a secret that Microsoft is working on its next-gen console. When it comes to next-gen consoles like Xbox, the hardware is the first thing that comes to our mind and by the looks of it, Microsoft will not disappoint.

AMD has already hinted that the Next Xbox will be using AMD chips but it’s now confirmed by a verified ResetEra member. The user who goes by the name of hmqq started talking about Xbox Scarlet and said that most of the things mentioned in previous rumors are actually true. According to him, Next Xbox console will be using the storage, raytracing and more.

He claims that the official Devkit of Xbox Scarlett will be available after GDC 2019.

The hardware is partially true
Storage is true
Raytracing is true
Lockhart is not Streaming box
Xbox SoC codename is Anubis, check AMD’s plan
MS AI is not a part of the hardware, in other words, never heard of TPU or ASIC like it
How to implement Raytracing? See GDC 2019
Why they make a decision like Lockhart? See GDC 2019
Why there still no DevKit? After GDC 2019

Moreover, the upcoming Xbox is codenamed Anubis and comes with the following specs.

CPU: Custom 8 cores / 16 Threads Zen 2 CPU

GPU: Custom NAVI @12+ teraflops

Memory: 16GB GDDR6

Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD @ 1+GB/s

DirectX Raytracing + MS AI

Do take this all with a grain of salt as we can’t confirm anything until Microsoft officially announces it. Game Developers Conference or GDC is just a few months away so if it’s true, we might get to know about the next-gen Xbox console in March.

PS5 spec rumors are also coming in. According to the latest one, PS5 will have eight physical cores, a 3.2GHz boost clock chip, AMD Zen Architecture, and Navi 10Lite GPU. The next-gen console by Sony will be able to run games at 4K resolution with stable 60 FPS.
